  1. It always surprises me you can see the Columbus skyline travelling NW before Hamilton Rd.
  2. ^Driving piles to start shoring the excavation!
  3. It's pretty bad that there's not a door on the corner but I'll bet it has more to do with CVS's demands than Casto. Doesn't CVS keep the High and Dodridge door locked most of the time?
  4. I read the 159.4B figure and thought, wow, that's great for the state! A lot of good industrial jobs spread around the state! And then I read the small print that 140B of that was in Central OH and was just floored.
  5. If I'm reading that right, that's a massive building footprint. I don't think that's the answer either. It reminds me of this building on Dublin Rd. minus a parking garage:
  6. I imagine it was mostly rural, but not too far from the industry around Whitehall and E 5th Ave.
  7. Yup, and I fully agree. High and Indianola need a ton of work
  8. My south Clintonville walk score is 83. It includes a movie theater, 3 groceries, 4 used record stores, and lots of other shops, bars and restaurants. Pretty good I think. Can High St be better? Hell yes! It’s a mess and it could be so much better. High St could also use a road diet to slow down traffic. Hopefully the new zoning code will help spur higher density developments.
  9. It started life as the Western Electric Columbus Works and Bell Labs in 1957. It was huge. It cranked out a lot of rotary phones back in the day.
  10. Pablo replied to KJP's post in a topic in City Discussion
Columbus is awful with street trees.
  11. OH is building a MOB atop a parking garage at Riverside, that's nothing new. Should be the same at Grant. I don't like the fact that 6th is being closed. Superblocks are a thing of the past - with this closure a pedestrian cannot walk north/south from Town to State between S. 4th St and Grant Ave. without cutting through private property. If anything super blocks should be broken up.
  12. It depends on allowable DUs per acre. I don't think the Dublin developer is voluntarily holding the unit count down, they are limited to what Dublin allows. Developers generally want to jam as many units on site as possible that will still be profitable. (there's nothing wrong with being profitable). That said, maybe the allowable density is higher here on Sunbury.
  13. If there is no HOA, the homes will evolve in appearance over time creating interest. Additions, different colors, tree growth.... Of there is an HOA, the blandness is permanent.
  14. Probably want to wrap up most of the garage work first.
  15. There are lots of small houses in Old North.
  16. That area of North Campus is quirky, Pomeroy Place, Medary and Deming all do weird things between Clinton and Blake.
  17. I stumbled onto a tear down/new build in Old North. This is replacing a 2 story home from 1920. I don’t necessarily have an issue with this. What I find interesting is the relationship to the house to the right. (If both were on the same parcel this would be illegal.) This is how an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) would fit onto a lot, typically on an alley. There are a lot of blocks in North Campus and South Clintonville that could accommodate ADUs, increasing income for the property owner, increasing neighborhood density and perhaps affordable housing. I doubt this will be affordable but an apartment over a garage might be. Here’s hoping the new Columbus zoning code allows this!
  18. Don’t know, probably rent
  19. It's not the greatest, but there are some townhomes facing the park.
  20. If voters had passed COTA's 2020 plan back in the 1990s, this would have been the light rail line from downtown to Westerville.....
  21. I think the curb cut might be necessary due to the eventual construction of Elijah Pierce Ave along 71. Of course, a better solution would be to replace this building as you said.
  22. Here's a list: https://www.motortrend.com/price/under-30000/
  23. I drive a 24 year old car. Maintaining it is less expensive than new car payments and new car insurance. The key is to get a vehicle with known longevity. Next year I can get historic plates!
