Columbus is growing, need more housing. The demographic info is very interesting, especially about Linden, along Parsons and Northland. You should watch it - It'll give you insight into why we need more housing, something you rightly espouse.

I found this to be very informative. It's worth the 45 minutes.
  3. Man, just like Chambers, Chesapeake needs curbs and sidewalks on both sides of the street. I kind of like how this area, bounded by King, North Star, Kinnear and Kenny is rapidly densifying - kind of under the radar compared to other areas of town.
  4. Low density single family homes are the worst economically for smaller towns. The infrastructure is expensive to maintain over the long run. Same with strip centers. Towns get so much more tax income with denser developments. I'd recommend reading articles from Strong Towns. https://www.strongtowns.org/
  5. I'm pro sign too. It's like the Wonder Bread sign - the sign lives on even though the bakery is gone. Remember when the ME burned out in the word HOME on the Dispatch sign? Hilarity ensued!
  6. The Dispatch is starting a weekly newsletter to track Central Ohio development. Wonder how much info they'll crib off of Urban Ohio? 🤣 dispatch.com/newsletters
  7. Columbus Dispatch editorial staff to join other departments in Brewery District "The Columbus Dispatch is moving its editorial department from Capitol Square to the Brewery District, where it will join other Dispatch departments. “This move will bring the Dispatch staff together in one location so we can work more effectively as a team serving the community,” said Edwina Blackwell Clark, executive editor of The Dispatch. “Reporting on stories that matter and providing a forum for diverse community voices continues to be our sharp focus as the largest newsgathering organization serving central Ohio.’’ The editorial staff will join advertising, marketing, and USA Today Network Ventures at 605 S. Front St. Blackwell Clark expects the move to be completed by the end of June." https://www.dispatch.com/story/news/2023/05/10/columbus-dispatch-to-move-from-capitol-square-to-brewery-district/70199763007/
  8. It's the State of Ohio, they are exempt from zoning and historic commissions.
  9. Google's three Central Ohio data centers put the region in rare company. Here's why the tech giant is high on Columbus. https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2023/05/03/google-data-centers-followup.html
  10. To be fair, before covid and the advent of on-line classes, the parking lots were full. It is a commuter college after all. Moving forward, maybe CSCC realizes they do not need as much parking and are looking at new opportunities?
  11. Just behind BSS Waste, the porta-potty people.
  12. Well, not the entire building, just the additions.
  13. How dare you question the wisdom of the traffic engineer. 🤪
  14. It's supposed to be a flock of starlings in a random flight pattern (Get it?? Starlings on Starling street?? 😐). The rendering looks like a couple of whales, but the actual installation looks like a blob. Are the individual birds visible in person?
  15. Kind of a cool view out from the Kroger produce department. Zoom in and look out the windows - a little hard to photograph but it’s evident in person. On the left is The Verve well underway at King and High, in the middle is The Common, and soon the Peer will fill in the windows on the right.
  16. An enabling project for the new tower? Gotta make up parking lost during tower construction and for new staff for the tower.
  17. I think the surface parking lot at Gay and Third is ripe for redevelopment too.
  18. Induced demand. Need to improve our public transportation first or concurrently.
  19. An update in CBF on the Continental Centre. It's up to 409 units! Historic conference room and bathroom on the 24th floor?!? https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2023/04/27/cover-story-office-to-residential-conversions.html?cx_testId=40&cx_testVariant=cx_10&cx_artPos=3#cxrecs_s
  20. Chambers Rd needs curbs and sidewalks on both sides of the street.
  21. Carmentonave. Yes, it’s contrived, but eventually the name will take over.
  22. There are farm fields on west campus and around Don Scott airport - is that rural?
