  2. The latest renderings show a pavilion on Broad St - I'll bet that's where the restaurant goes.
  3. My brother had to shop in the Husky department at Sears when we were kids....
  4. I'd rather see the UDF site redeveloped. I'll bet if the ugly mansard roof on the Mercedes place was removed you would see the 2nd story. Opportunity for apartments there. I agree about the first floor residential conversion back to retail. When I lived in Glen Echo in the 90s I would walk to the coffee shop that was right on the corner. Common Grounds I think? Indianola is scheduled to be repaved in 2024 and will include bike lanes. Looking at the most recent plans I could find, the bike lane is northbound only between Arcadia and Hudson. Looks like the southbound is routed onto Arcadia and then south on Summit. Looks like the drive lanes are 10' wide - this can slow down traffic.
  5. I just love these comparisons! "They've also moved 700,000 tons, or 1.4 billion pounds, of rock and limestone, that's the equivalent of 5,833,333.33 Pablos"
  6. The Continental Centre project is underway. The alley to the north of the building is cordoned off and the plaza is fenced.
  7. I believe the green area above is all City Schools property.
  8. Anything is possible. This could be a similar rehab and addition like the Barrett School site on the south side. The school district thought about selling this property a few years ago but decided to hang onto it. I agree with reconnecting 4th Ave. It would be nice to connect Dennison as well.
  9. The additions to the school are bad, but the original building is from the late 1800s. It was the first North H.S.
  10. I would hate to see historic homes replaced by 5 over 1s. There are a few opportunity areas left in the SN to infill away from High. It's definitely happening along the W 5th corridor. Several blocks between 5th and 3rd are densifying. Broadview is a good example as well as the stuff behind the View on 5th. Same in South Campus along 9th and 8th. I could see W Norwich developing like this too. I agree that Downtown and Franklinton offer the best opportunity for full blocks of dense housing. There are nodes that are getting there. I really like what's going on around Topiary Park and the library. There are still tons of parking lots to get rid of!
  11. The proposed building I was referring to is at 9th and High, not Lane. Incidentally, I heard from someone who attended the UDC meeting said the Lane and High (CVS) project is also dead. The developer apparently pulled out of the project. Has anyone else heard this? This is disappointing, but I also blame the developer. They could’ve focused on the CVS site by eliminating the 300+ parking garage.
  12. As much as they would like to deny this, there's a 6 story building under construction immediately to the south. The precedent has been set.
  13. The floor to floor height of residential is lower than office. They must have shrunk the lobby level as well. Still - a good looking building!
  14. I seem to remember Buck Reinhart talking about it when he was mayor.
  15. Ugh. This has idea been floated before, basically connecting the county seats in the counties surrounding Franklin. I think it's a horrible idea.
  16. Hasn't it been mentioned here that Lykens' projects are traditionally slow?
  17. Needs more redundant driveways

I attended an event in the rooftop bar of the Hilton. Wow. What a view!!
  19. The northern end of that area includes run down apartments that could stand to be redeveloped in a more efficient way. These were crappy 25 years ago.
  20. Or, maybe, just Tri-Village, like it used to be known as. 5xNW doesn’t roll off the tongue
  21. The Airport comment is strange. A new terminal will be built at the airport to replace the old terminal. The runways will remain as-is. This was planned well before the Intel announcement.
  22. OK, this is really a cool performance piece by local muralist Mandi Caskey (AKA Miss Birdy), filmed by Outsider Video.
