  1. Meh, looks like a typical, freeway oriented, car dependent suburban development.

  3. ^That's outside of MKSK's office - looks like a company event.
  4. The churches are now for sale: https://columbusunderground.com/two-university-district-church-properties-for-sale-bw1/ The one at Maynard and Indianola can be yours for $995,000.00 https://www.commercialexchange.com/listing/30155539/2350-Indianola-Ave-Columbus-OH-43202
  5. The lobby of the old building is awesome. I poked my head in there a few weeks ago.
  6. Yes, the "c" in façade has a cedilla hanging off the bottom. Blame the Visigoths.
  7. Awesome - now all Grove City needs is a light rail connection to downtown Columbus! The track is there! 😃
  8. Man, that's a tough place for retail unless it's a destination restaurant.
  9. This building on Grandview isn't bad either - it's a bit longer than I would like to see. I've been reading a lot of stuff about Strong Towns and the key to solid development (economically and aesthetically) is incremental development. Multiple developers over time and no block long projects. Hopefully the new Cbus zoning code will enable smaller developers to do smaller projects.
  10. Now that Clintonville is OK with a bit more density, I can't help but think how High St can be improved. I ran across a project on Chicago Yimby and thought it could fit at Lakeview and High - a much better use than a transmission shop. The tax service could move into one of the retail spaces - I don't think it needs 11 parking spaces! The subway site across the street is another excellent candidate, where the subway could take one of the retail spots. The two Chicago buildings aren't architectural showpieces, but they don't need to be. They provide additional density (with 1/2 the parking required) and create a street wall reducing the visual scale of High St (7 lanes wide at this location). Similar to the Weber & High project, it's right next to a bus stop on the busiest route in the city. What I like about these buildings is that they are not a block long building. They're neighborhood scaled. Here's the Chicago project: https://chicagoyimby.com/2022/09/updated-plans-revealed-for-two-building-development-in-logan-square.html
  11. Wonder when they'll get around to rebuilding one of the most visited branch in the system - Whetstone.
  12. I don't mind two grocers being that close to each other - Lucky's and Giant Eagle are across the street from each other in Clintonville. I do like your suggestion of putting Aldi in the first floor of a residential building. Here's one on Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago:
  13. POTUS checks out Intel renderings. (from 10TV's FB page)
  14. Trees have been removed on the south side of the parking lot, along Vine
  15. Johnstown recalled their mayor - there's a lot of drama. I'm not sure if this had anything to do with the changes Intel is creating for the City. https://myfox28columbus.com/news/local/recall-election-and-intel-groundbreaking-has-johnstown-at-a-crucial-point-licking-county-president-joe-biden-semiconductor-plant More background info here: https://www.newarkadvocate.com/story/news/local/2022/08/28/johnstown-residents-vote-tuesday-on-removal-of-council-members/65457187007/
  16. ^But what about rural aesthetics??
  17. Maybe this project was the can opener needed to approve similar projects along High St.
  18. ^Per http://columbusrestauranthistory.com/ the OSU locations was an IHOP from 1966-1986 I remember going to the Bexley location and how sticky the syrup rack was at each table. But I digress. I don't think the massing is that bad. The rendering is awful - looks like it's from sketch-up. I imagine there will be more refined renderings as the project progresses. I agree with @NW24HX - increase the height on Lane and lower on the Norwich side to step the project down to the neighborhood. The Catholics next door need to up their game 😃
  19. Welp, here's the new project some were pining for over in the Random Developments thread.
  20. And it’s up. The crane is centered on Summit St heading towards downtown.
