The row houses are being wiped out in this proposal. If you look on drawing A-100 on the link above, you'll see a lower level parking garage occupying the entire site with the exception of the building at Norwich & High that they don't own. I think it looks OK, I like how it steps down towards the north.

^Weird - the Business First article says the building was built in 1951. They're off by 22 years - I believe it was built in 1973.

The Edington on W. 1st at Fairview appears close to completion. Pretty good looking building.

I initially thought is was located by the North Market - the lot is about 25' wide and maybe as deep.

Where on Spruce St.? I kind of like this - there's a lot of infill this size in Chicago when you get away from the Loop. Edit - Never mind - 112 Spruce at Armstrong. Weird location.

Ongoing window installation and Pride Parade

Window installation is going quickly on the south façade were the buck hoists were removed.

I got to 100 before my eyes gave out. I know I missed several in IV along N 4th St. There's also a lot of single family homes in IV that I missed. I'll bet the actual count is over 200.

Harrison House is about to get Loewendicked. Equipment on site and a giant earth ramp is installed on the north side. I guess they need the ramp so their equipment can reach the top?

Don't you understand?? These towers will block out the sun and cause irreparable damage to migratory bird routes in the Atlantic Flyway!!

I think this is roughly where Polaris Amphitheater was (in blue) and the parking was in the red area? Interesting how there are still remnants in the Google Maps view.

High St had these from 1980-1986. They were very difficult to clean and were full of broken glass. Most cyclists rode on High St and not in these lanes.

The buck hoists (exterior construction elevators) have been removed. That means the internal fright elevators are operational. The south façade will be completed soon. The green roof looks good too.

As I recall the Time Warmer (now Spectrum) building needed 80’ caissons to penetrate through the landfill. That’s expensive foundation work for a 5 story building. While I like the repurposed land, mixed use and density, I find Grandview Yard as a whole kind of boring.

There are also tunnels connecting the Statehouse to adjacent towers on Broad and High Sts., the courthouse complex beneath Mound and Edwards recently built one beneath Gay connecting the Citizens building to the Nicholas. I may have missed a few. They all keep commuters off of the streets further dampening street life.

It seems reasonable to me. There's a lot of work below grade to construct a taxiway to support the weight of aircraft. Depending on soils, there may be excavation as deep as 3' or more. Then you replace it with aggregate of various layers. The concrete it self is about 12" thick with steel reinforcing. I'm sure the concrete mix is different as well - it's not like pouring a sidewalk!
