  1. I think it would be a difficult building to adapt to anything other than office. The floor plate is too wide. I have a vague recollection that President Ford was at the ribbon cutting for this building in 1976.
  2. In person, the community center is really impressive. The photos don't do it justice. The entire project, as a whole, is pretty nice. I would think the weak links are the parking deck and the apartments on Northwest Blvd.
  3. In true Columbus fashion, the building will probably be torn down for a parking lot..../jk

1926 or so aerial shot of Broad and High. At the top you can see ongoing foundation work for the Leveque tower. When completed, it was the 5th tallest building in the world.
  5. That's a stub to connect to the extension of Lester once the Town and Oak bridge portion of the project begins. Same time as the weird Parsons improvements.
  6. ^^1551 N 4th used to be the Sugar Shack, a live music venue in the 60s and 70s (before my time). Bob Seger was a regular performer. This stretch of 4th could be such a nice node in the neighborhood.
  7. ^Other Saraga locations are on Morse Rd and Cleveland Ave in Northern Lights. It's an awesome store!
  8. It's easier to get to know your Commissioner - I know the current and last 3 from my district.
  9. Full architectural/structural/MEP drawings are not usually completed until after Commission approval. That takes time on larger projects. A developer does not want to pay for complete drawings until they know the project is approved.
  10. It is one commission with 9 districts. Each district votes for their own commissioner. District 1 is at the south end and District 9 at the north. https://www.clintonvilleareacommission.org/learn-about-the-cac/commission-districts-2/
  11. Probably should rewatch City Nerd's video on apartments next to interstates....
  12. I hope this venture is a success! Here's what new owners plan for former Neighborhood House on Near East Side https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2025/02/19/opportunity-zone-moses-realty-plans.html?cx_testId=7&cx_testVariant=cx_31&cx_artPos=3#cxrecs_s
  13. I wouldn't worry about it - the majority of the commissioners are pro-development. The Zone-In change would bypass the commission on a lot of stuff anyway.
  14. ^Technically, this site is in Columbus. Originally it was built by Duke Realty for a company called Sterling Software. It's a project I worked on 30 years ago. 😬
  15. Carry out? They should call it Andy's as a tribute!
  16. ^Ha! Simultaneous posts!

1930: Beginnings of construction of the state office building on Civic Center, now home to the Supreme Court of Ohio. The view is to the southwest with Front St (with the row of parked cars) on the left. The Town St bridge is at the top. There’s a White Castle at the bottom right!!
  19. Is this from an article? Do you have a link?

  21. Per Zone-In, this area allows 5 story buildings, 7 story if there's and affordable component with no minimum parking requirement. It's a big site and should be redeveloped - same with the CVS site next door.
