  1. Nice long article about recent projects, history of the near east side and what's next. https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2022/04/14/near-east-side.html?cx_testId=40&cx_testVariant=cx_10&cx_artPos=7#cxrecs_s
  2. ^This board could have provided council with the same analysis!

    Thought this was interesting:
  4. Disposable architecture. How old is the Miller's building? 9 years? These new builds can be torn down too in the future for a T.O.D. project.
  5. Just doubled the units - helps more people. 4 duplex houses shown in red (8 three bedroom units) and 8 studios / 1 bedroom units in the renovated existing building. Plenty of room for a shared green space and parking off of the alley.

Ohio Republicans introduce House Bill 616, their version of Florida's 'Don't Say Gay' law https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/news/2022/04/05/ohio-republicans-introduce-version-floridas-dont-say-gay-bill/9467432002/
  10. Yes. Steel framing needs to be fireproofed.
  11. I leave Lowes via the driveway by Crew Stadium.
  12. I'd have to say a car wash or gas station is probably the best you would get there. Hopefully MooMoo provides plenty of stacking. Since I live nearby, I'll probably get my car washed there. Historically speaking, big box retail is appropriate if you consider the 60s and 70s a historic era. 😅 This large building was an Ontario department store and grocery in the 60s and 70s. Kind of a regional Walmart. I remember shopping there with my mom. One day in the mid 70's, we watched the deli clerk somehow lop off his finger. My mom abandoned our shopping cart and we walked out of the store. We never went back. Eventually, a lot of Ontario stores became Rinks Department Stores.
  13. So, did the UAIRB vote on the project? What was the result of the meeting?

The State Theater on N High St in 1952. It was converted into the Agora in 1970. In 1984 it became the Newport Music Hall. Photo from Ohiopix.org
  15. I personally don't see why sharrows for 3 blocks is a bad thing. *ducks* It's not a "large portion of the project". I live a few blocks from here and just walk from home to Studio 35. I wouldn't be opposed to getting rid of the left turn lane and island in the middle. You would need to keep the left turn lane on southbound Indianola to eastbound Weber.
  16. I'm glad Walgreens is repurposing the building. There's enough foot traffic that a parking lot is unnecessary. If the Target just up the street can go without a lot, so can this.
  17. ^I can hear the Clintonville Discussion Forum on FB now - "prostitution and drug sales"
  18. That site might be problematic to access once ODOT is finished with the next phase of 70-71. The rendering below (sorry for the low res) shows a bridge over Mound St. at the southwest corner of the Miranova garage. This is the new ramp to 315 and 71 south. The bottom rendering is the view south from the southeast corner of the Miranova garage. Mound is at the bottom. I circled the bridge that will carry westbound traffic to 315 and 71 south.
  19. Probably not - it's railroad property. It could be a park with all the existing trees.
  20. The Indiana Bat thing is a common issue in site development throughout Central Ohio. Trees need to be felled between November and March to avoid interfering with breeding.
  21. I think the AEP building has its elevator core on this side so windows wouldn’t overlook the still open Ohio Pen, industrial areas and railroads that dominated this area in 1983.
  22. Here’s a 700’ tower proposed for Broad and High in 1970. I don’t know how serious this proposal was.
  23. ^Medary School? That used to be the location of Bridgeway Academy but it moved. The old building is pretty cool, built in 1892. That could be repurposed similar to Barrett on the south side.
  24. ^I grew up near the Mifflin Middle School. It used to be Mifflin High School and before that was the township school. In the late '60's and early '70's when I was a kid the high school was so overcrowded that school was held in shifts - 6AM to noon and noon to 6PM. The new Mifflin HS opened in the early '70's.
