  1. 50 E. 7th will be back in front of the UIDRB next week. The renderings have changed a bit.
  2. Sort of - my job takes me to construction sites every now and then.
  3. The glass looks terrific! View out from 14
  4. ^I love this building. I'd love to see more buildings of this scale built in other commercial corridors around town.
  5. Also from the article: We all knew this - suburban style developments jammed into older areas of town.
  6. Very happy with the assessment! This one made me smile: Also this: By encouraging small developers or land owners to develop their property creates a rich fabric of architectural styles and sizes rather than the 5 over 1 full block projects everyone loathes.
  7. I wasn't sure where to post this: Columbus Zoning Code Update - Phase 1 Assessment Presentation Link for October 20 (Columbus – October 13, 2021) – As we work to guide growth and promote equity, the City of Columbus has initiated a review of its Zoning Code. Zoning regulates and influences development through standards that guide how land is used, where residential or commercial buildings may be built, and the density of new developments to be constructed. It can be used to help attract new businesses, encourage the construction of new housing, and protect natural resources. Looking to the future, it is important that Columbus' Zoning Code be designed to help all neighborhoods thrive. A third-party Zoning Code Assessment has been conducted, which examines the pitfalls of the existing code and opportunities to make the code more efficient and effective. The community is invited to view a presentation of the Phase 1 findings and have an opportunity to submit questions. City of Columbus Zoning Code Update - Phase 1 Assessment Findings View the live stream presentation on Option 1: Wednesday, October 20, 2021 3:00 PM Event Option 2: Wednesday, October 20, 2021 6:00 PM Event Two sessions are available for scheduling flexibility - the content of each presentation will be the same. 8. ^This could become something like the Barrett on the south side. I love seeing these old schools repurposed. The old Starling Middle School on S. Central in Franklinton is also a candidate for a renovation like this.
  9. Staged semi truck trailers loaded with steel
  10. Glass installation Workers on 3 different levels installing the panel. Crane glamour shot
  11. Well, that sucks. At least the stored cars will have a nice view of Tuttle Park.
  12. I like the project! Hopefully the Holiday Inn and the awful Riverwatch Tower sites can be redeveloped eventually for a nice street wall along Lane.
  13. From the Friends of Goodale Park Facebook Page:
  14. This building fills your view as you travel westbound on Livingston. There's a real sense of enclosure.
  15. Les talked about it a couple of years ago. Who knows if it's still in the cards. https://stories.usatodaynetwork.com/eastonanniversary/latest-easton-expansion-focuses-on-an-edgy-urban-vibe/site/dispatch.com/
  16. Mmmm, the public space has a Soviet Khrushchyovka vibe.

There was a ton of expressway construction in 1968 (from the Cols. Dispatch) 315 Construction. 270 Construction in Dublin 270 and 70 on the west side 33 at Avery Rd in Dublin
  18. ^Thanks for the photos! Maybe some day Franklinton will have this type of density throughout. The photo below is taken on a rooftop on Fulton Market in the West Loop of Chicago. The view is to the west (the white object at the top right is the United Center). It looks so dense and most of the buildings are of the height we are seeing under construction in Franklinton. https://chicagoyimby.com/2021/09/a-peek-inside-the-lobby-and-rooftop-area-of-800-fulton-in-west-loop.html

  20. Beautiful day to build a building.
  21. ^They kept the sign because todays sign code wouldn't allow such a large sign. It's a win-win for all parties, I guess.
  22. The City of Columbus is considering bike lanes on Indianola from Oakland Park south to Hudson. It appears the intersection of Indianola and Broadway as well as Indianola and Hudson are out of the study. Basically, there will be two car lanes, a center left turn lane, bike lanes in both directions and parking on one side of the street. The bike lanes become sharrows between Weber and Milford allowing parking on both sides of the street in the Studio 35 commercial district. Painted crosswalks will be added in key locations.
