  1. This project will help someone living in Lewis Center save a minute and a half driving to Orange Theory. Rail...smdh...how elitist of you.
  2. $1,600,000,000.00
  3. That's amazing! What a difference!
  4. A small apartment building would fit. Franklin Park is just a block away.
  5. The link VintageLife posted indicates option 3 is preferred - a traffic signal at the end of the ramp.
  6. This is a ridiculous argument. The hospital's been there for over 100 years, folks moving in know what they're getting in to. It's like moving next to the airport and then complaining about the noise. When my Dad was hospitalized there I would visit the library as a reprieve from the stress.
  7. ^I wasn't aware of this project. It's definitely an issue - 670 traffic flies up 4th. This is similar to the 315 ramp at Broadway that was removed when OH built their HQ. Traffic off or 315 would hit 60MPH on Broadway.
  8. The amount of griping on r/Columbus Reddit about RTO is very entertaining.

1982 AEP building construction. The former Columbia Gas (now Baker Hostetler/Park Bank) building is under construction along the River to the top of the photo. A lot of parking lots back then, some have been converted to parking garages. 😐 The mystery building at the NE corner of Long and Marconi is still there. And you can see the recently completed Arch Park at the bottom right. The Union Station arch was moved to the Arena District 20 years later.

Tressel has entered the transfer portal....
  11. The historic restoration on the project is terrific.
  12. I respectfully disagree - Grandview Yard has design standards and it's incredibly homogenous. The more differing developers and builders constructing what they think works leads to, IMO, more vibrant urban spaces. Incremental change is better for long term viability. I think 5xnw is filling in really nicely. Development is marching west between 3rd and 5th and the infill along Chambers is great for density. I'm looking for more one story buildings being replaced by mixed use and units above along 5th. The same could happen along King in the future.
  13. Per the Auditor, the parcel was owned by Gulf Refining Co. from 1936 to 1955. Seems it was a gas station until Dennison was rerouted to Neil south of 670 when the Goodale Expressway was built. After that Dennison became a neighborhood street with less traffic.
  14. I personally like the separation between work and home. During Covid I was never sure if I was working from home or living at work. My commute is only 15 minutes (South Clintonville to Downtown) so that's not bad. I used to commute an hour each way and that sucked.
  15. A little infill project at 1st and Dennison. This was a medical office recently and I think a gas station originally. Wonder what’s going to happen in the parking lot, I don’t think the units need all this parking unless the office will remain on the first floor. (I like how the pedestrians are giving me the stink eye 🤣)
  16. Looks like the Bike Plus initiative is starting with the 4th St bike lanes.
  17. My understanding is that CVS dictated the site design.
  18. Is there even any topsoil in that dirt? It just looks like clay.
  19. The only positive I can say is that is does enhance the streetwall....
  20. High Street's rapid transit mode hasn't been determined yet. I'm hoping for rail that's in a tunnel emerging at Arcadia and travailing on the surface to Worthington.
  21. Edwards is also currently building the 100 N High building. Seems like they can handle several large projects at one time.
  22. I don't know the details between United Way and CMHA - maybe because they are both non profits United Way was more willing to sell to CMHA than a for profit developer.
  23. The developer is not a developer - it's CMHA - they're non profit basically formed by the state legislature in the depths of the depression in 1934. What exactly is the bait and switch? They disappointed you by not constructing a taller building? They have to follow federal rules when financing and the cause for the reduction was a reevaluation of the income levels in the area. They didn't qualify for the higher funding anymore. It's not like they benefited from the reduction. If anything, they lost a bit too since their mission is to build affordable housing. Who knows if this will ultimately get funded since the current Trump administration just put a freeze on all loans and grants.
