  1. It is structural, but not in the traditional sense. It's the same system that was used for the AC Hotel. Photo from 11/10/2019
  2. ^That will all get filled in. At some point the small crane that's been used for steel erection will need to be removed. From High St you can see the cantilever circled below in red.
  3. The folks at the GV Commission meeting I attended HATE all the Children's Hospital buildings. I don't doubt they will hate this as well.
  4. ^ probably should remove the Giant Eagle logo and replace it with a whale.

Beggs Building under construction in 1927. The Ohio Theater is on the left. From FB
  6. The only advantage I see to keeping some of these is the affordable housing aspect.
  7. It's interesting to me that it's now profitable to tear down 60's era apartment buildings and increase density. Campus neighborhoods are full of these, ripe for redevelopment. Zip code 43201 has the highest density in Columbus at just over 11,500 and rising with the current building boom.
  8. Judge says Columbus police ran ‘amok’ during protests, bans future violent responses https://www.nbc4i.com/news/local-news/judge-says-columbus-police-ran-amok-during-protests-bans-future-violent-responses/
  9. Plans have been submitted for renovations to the former theater building on Hudson between Indianola and Summit:
  10. There's a multi story project proposed for 50 E 7th Ave across from the Kroger. It will replace a few 60's era apartment buildings. (Option 2 has a site plan for context). https://universityarea.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/21_0329-Columbus-Housing_Option-1.pdf https://universityarea.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/21_0329-Columbus-Housing_Option-2.pdf On a side note - I used to be able to upload photos from my phone or inset snips into comments but now I'm limited to 5.06kB - what changed?

315 from Akerman north to 161 wasn't completed until 1984 or so

The Hyatt Regency under construction in 1979. Looking northeast at Front and Spring. All the buildings seen here are still in place but all the surface parking has been replaced with buildings. Photo from the Columbus Metropolitan Library.

Riverside Hospital under construction in 1960 looking northwest. That's Olentangy River Road bisecting the photo and West North Broadway in the lower right. Beyond Riverside are farms soon to become north Upper Arlington and the Bethel/Sawmill neighborhoods.

There's plenty of room to fill in everywhere in the city. Zip code 43202 (South Clintonville and North Campus) has a population density of about 8000 and there's still room to add new housing.
  15. ^I like the style of the infill housing. Similar in scale to the old homes but with a modern take.
  16. "219 Sparking Spaces (3 levels)" confused me for a second - are they specific spots for getting high?
  17. ^I recall there being one around 1st and High in the 90s. The dancers gyrated in the storefront windows.
  18. Remember this project? Construction is well underway. It's tucked away and hard to find.
  19. ^Is this a tax exempt project?
  20. ^The amazing thing is that they are driving scissor lifts on the slab the next morning after the floor slab pour and setting up forms for the next set of columns. What seems to take time is setting up scaffolding to hold the next floor and positioning all the cables.
  21. It's 3 floors between those dates. I've been watching on the construction cam and those giant 3 concrete beams needed time to cure before they were loaded with additional concrete.
  22. There's a lot going on. I may have some of the construction terms wrong but you get the idea. A buckhoist is a construction elevator. I'll bet they'll pour the 7th floor tomorrow.
  23. I just drove by and noticed mechanical rough-ins are underway. Interior finishes won't start until the building enclosed. Like wpcc88 said, we'll see exterior finishes begin while they are still forming upper floors. The interior trades will follow that.
