  1. It was a Florida chain with over 400 locations in the 70s.
  2. I remember when that was a Lum's restaurant. ?
  3. It's probably grandfathered in. There are a lot of vaults in older parts of town. Maybe it was a coal bin back in the day. My understanding is there's a 20' deep vault at the Lazarus building on S High. That's why the trees are in pots instead of in the ground. Vaults like these aren't permitted now.
  4. ^There might be a vault under the sidewalk. That bad concrete might very well be the lid for that building vault.
  5. I believe this is the device that will allow the crane to grow. It will lift the tower crane to allow a section of the crane to be inserted. Note the hydraulics. I’ll bet once the crane gets to a certain height it will be tied off to the new building.
  6. The residential portion of the Lincoln garage project is taking shape.
  7. Looks like the building at Starr and High is being renovated. New windows have been installed and the interior looks like it’s been gutted. It stood empty for a while and I was worried it would be torn down.
  8. ^It's a long building. I’ll bet they need the crane height to be able to reach all four corners.
  9. You know they will. Further homogenization of High. I haven't heard anything more about the proposed project at Norwich and High (Waterbeds N Stuff building). Wonder if the project is dead?
  10. ^I love infill! I like how the face in the mural terminates the view when you're traveling west on State St.
  11. East Franklinton Review Board signed off on the plan. The church is going to be replaced with a 50 unit building. Kinda reminds me of a Chicago building. https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2020/06/25/heres-the-new-plan-for-franklintons-west-side-sp.html?iana=hpmvp_colum_news_headline
  12. That reminds me of the lit pylons on W. Congress in Chicago.
  13. It's too bad they're closing that low clearance tunnel beneath the tracks to traffic. Columbus has very little quirky early 1900s things like this left. Every roadway is traffic engineered into homogenization. Maybe they'll keep the Capital St connection open.
  14. 1229 Grandview Ave project is back with a few tweaks. https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2020/06/18/proposed-grandview-development-gets-a-new-look.html?cx_testId=7&cx_testVariant=cx_31&cx_artPos=1#cxrecs_s
  15. The drive east on Long is remarkable considering how it looked 5 years ago. Schottenstein development The Denver developer Edward's garage project
  16. I like how this turned out!
  17. Took a drive during lunch - lots of progress.
  18. ^No, the 27' is for the cooling towers. They're behind the metal screen in the CU provided rendering. The stacks are above that. Maybe they can float an inflatable pig between the stacks.
  19. ^They never mention the height of the two stacks - they look to be 120'-140' tall judging from the rendering. It will be really prominent on 315. Please enjoy my crude rendering.
  20. An infill project at Buttles and Highland replacing a long empty lot.
