  1. ^I saw the printed agenda. You could probably email the commission's urban design manager.
  2. I still agree with your assessment. Look at the developers involved - M/I Homes, Daimler and Continental are essentially suburban developers. Thanks for the clarification.
  3. I think you're reacting to an older version of the plan and I agree with your assessment. If you look at the Business First rendering (and I'm assuming this is more current than the site plan) it looks like the hotel is now on 5th Ave. with surface parking south of the building. It also looks like the structured parking is not directly on 5th.
  4. I drove by around 6:30 this evening and columns were erected in the north end of the building. We should see a skeleton emerge by the end of next week.
  5. ^I did mention the hotel will have functioning plumbing. :)
  6. Reminds me of Soviet Bloc housing, but with functioning plumbing.
  7. CAHS needed to be replaced when my daughter was a student 10 years ago and I thought North would've been a good location. My understanding is that Dominion is overcrowded and the move to North places it closer to the center of it's enrollment area. Moving CAHS to North was the plan if Dominion didn't relocate.
  8. ^The article does not clearly report that the first four buildings east of Grant will be saved and renovated.
  9. Crane removal is quite an operation. There are about a dozen semis staged on High St. Some of the construction work on the building has been called off during crane removal for safety reasons. Lots of onlookers too (like me)! Also, the crane is a lot larger than it seems. You can see just a small part of the jib on a trailer in the last photo.
  10. ^Also part of the "law enforcement district" is Twin Valley Behavioral Healthcare Hospital (hospital for the criminally insane) just south of I-70 from the new jail.
  11. Nice view of Jeffrey Park from atop the convention center garage.
  12. Nice view from atop the convention center garage.
  13. ^This pisses me off. North of Lane has a different character than south and I think this will ultimately do more harm than good (except for lining the developers pockets). I would have been OK if this project moved south one parcel and redeveloped the CVS site. I imagine there will be a ton of push back from the community, similar to the Pavey project.
  14. ^The new Cannon/King intersection is open.
  15. I like the High St. facade of the 711 building. The park side, however, is all glass and reminds me of a Dublin office building.
  16. The project has been redesigned. It's a 3 story structure now with some residential units on the first floor. I don't think it's a horrible change, probably went through a heavy VE exercise. 3 stories works well with this stretch of High St. I am disappointed the arched entry disappeared. http://www.thisweeknews.com/news/20180806/former-patrick-js-site-cac-approves-variance-for-its-sliver-of-project
  17. Probably since Abbott is not selling their land.
  18. Well, here's another proposal. I like the views of downtown but the site plan is a mess. Only 1200 parking spaces below the stadium. probably should be higher. There's no mention of vehicular access north to Vine/Goodale (through the White Castle site - which would help both developments) nor are there improvements to the south. The bike bridge location is a good spot for a vehicular bridge curving south to meet Spring St. at the 315 N off ramp. The large plaza doesn't make a lot of sense either. And the pitch really needs to be oriented north/south. https://www.columbusunderground.com/save-the-crew-releases-downtown-stadium-concept-bw1

High St. in the 1970s, not a chain store in sight. (photos from Facebook)
  20. Yeah, nice synopsis. I like these projects and the thoughtful increase in density. There are a few more surface lots in the area ripe for redevelopment.
