  1. ^This looks like a great project. I'm excited to see the old building re-purposed. The shading created with mesh and vines looks great.
  2. There's a serious steel pricing issue that may have affected this building. Some projects are carrying a 50% escalation for steel costs due to tariffs. A 5 or 6 story building can utilize wood construction greatly reducing the amount of steel. I wonder if cost increases will also delay or cancel the Millennial Tower, North Market Tower and convention center hotel. Even if they're concrete structures the cost increases will affect rebar and post-tension cables.
  3. The new Gay St. pavement looks pretty cool. The light colored pavers in the roadway are really going to show tire marks. :(
  4. The Mews II is moving right along.
  5. The 711 building seems to loom over Italian Village. I'm interested to see how the masonry looks on the lower levels. No activity yet on the parking garage portion of the project.
  6. ^The barriers on High St. were removed a couple of days ago - one less bottleneck.
  7. The apartment hotel project at the Dixie Electric site is beginning to take shape:
  8. ^OK, I understand. Thanks for the clarification.
  9. I would think Marysville is more self-sustaining due to Honda, Scotts and other industrial concerns.
  10. I haven't heard any opposition. I imagine it will operate much like a pharmacy with no late night hours. There wasn’t a zoning change so it didn’t need to go to the commission. Plus it’s in the less affluent (and cooler) South Clintonville so there are less pearls to clutch.
  11. Work has begun on the Clintonville marijuana dispensary at Crestview and High.
  12. It's such a prime spot too. Well, the bad news is it's owned by our favorite slumlords...er... I mean local owners... The Tonti Organization. Maybe they'll pull a Madison's Building on us all and sell it finally? I designed a nice pocket park for this parking lot when I was in school - in 1988. It's been a parking lot for a long time...
  13. I think Cleveland Ave. has potential, especially the portion around Cleveland and Myrtle where the old streetcar centered commercial corridor is somewhat intact. Immediately off of Cleveland are housing stock not unlike Clintonville and the Hilltop. Any further east or west and you encounter post war cape cods with lower density. I think Linden south of Oakland Park has potential but improvements will take time. Areas north of Oakland Park are receiving investment as first (or second) time homeowners are priced out of Clintonville (lovingly called East Clintonville). I've always thought this section of Cleveland Ave. along with Parsons Ave. have the potential to become arts focused corridors somewhat like the Short North due to cheaper rents.
  14. The crane is being removed at Luxe Belle - still skeptical of the August completion date...
  15. The unveiling of this project is weird. You'd think that for a $2 billion project you would have more than a hand-drawn site plan. Where are the sexy graphics? Where's the fly-through video?
  16. ^That site plan is pretty amateurish...
  17. I've often wondered if the garage could be removed to the first column line south of Rich St. allowing for a narrow development parcel similar to 250 S. High. You could work around the vehicular and pedestrian garage entries. Whatever is built would have awesome Columbus Commons views.
  18. It looks like a nice project, the existing site contains nondescript buildings and surface parking. I like that the row house will be renovated. I believe this was the site of a 6 story building - I recall seeing photos in a University District history book.
  19. New ramp for the Ohio Health HQ https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2018/06/25/route-315-ramp-from-clintonville-to-close-for-one.html https://www.columbus.gov/Templates/Detail.aspx?id=2147497203
  20. Four story building proposed for the old Andy's carry-out site at Wilcox and High. https://www.columbusunderground.com/four-story-mixed-use-building-proposed-for-old-north-columbus-bw1
  21. ^I thought both 250 and 80 were clad with pre-cast concrete panels.
  22. The pedestrian bridge is staged on Rich St. I imagine it will be lifted into place soon.
  23. ^I think it looks terrific on the Columbus Commons side!
