  1. I have to disagree - there is nothing wrong with having a postage stamp green space or pocket park in an urban area. So what if Goodale Park is a block away. Redesigned and well maintained, the Bollinger green space can be an asset to the SN.
  2. ^That's more of a lack of maintenance issue with the housing authority. I'm sure the hotel would take better care of the green space, especially if it's redesigned and/or refreshed.
  3. The Graduate Hotel presented preliminary plans to the IV Commission. The commission pushed back on the removal of green space along High St. I'm kind of in agreement with the commission. There's nothing wrong in having a break in the streetwall for a pedestrian respite, especially since the streetwall will be continuous from Goodale to 5th in a few years. https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2018/02/21/bollinger-tower-redevelopment-plans-met-with.html
  4. The IV Commission approved the Acorn apartment project - construction starts in June. https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2018/02/21/196-apartments-coming-to-acorn-warehouse-site.html
  5. Amazon HQ2 is shaking up site selection for good – here's why that's good for Columbus: https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2018/02/19/amazon-hq2-is-shaking-up-site-selection-for-good.html
  6. ^The crane has been removed. I think the project is looking good!
  7. I don't see how that's possible unless portions are pre-fab...
  8. ^I don't see how the Taco Bell project will be finished this fall unless it's mostly pre-fab. They are just beginning to construct walls on the elevated slab.
  9. Nice interview with Pittsburgh's mayor: https://www.citylab.com/equity/2018/02/bill-peduto-pittsburgh-was-already-a-decade-ahead/552731/
  10. ^If there's room on the site builders try to use mobile cranes. Tower cranes are more expensive and are usually used when there are site constraints. 80 on the Commons and 250 S High used large crawler cranes. Both of those are Daimler projects and they are known for being frugal.
  11. Looks like we'll see another tower crane soon - the tower crane base has been installed for the garage project.
  12. ^Good spot for a 20 story residential tower. The views into Huntington Park and back towards the riverfront would be cool.
  13. ^I thought that was a possibility for Park St. From casual observations, it looked like heavy lifting has been complete for a few weeks.
  14. There isn't a crane in place yet. The closure could be for utility work as well.
  15. The City publishes useful information here about the High St. streetscape project: https://www.columbus.gov/Templates/Detail.aspx?id=2147495133 At the bottom of each bulletin are updates for major activities for adjacent private projects. For instance, highlights from the Jan. 26th bulletin include the following:
  16. Pavey Square excavation - it's quite a hole!
  17. It seems the library is mainly concerned with easy access to their garage. http://www.columbusunderground.com/library-turned-down-offers-to-renovate-grant-oak-apartments-bw1
  18. ^^There's also a tru hotel planned for the hotel cluster at 670 and Cassady.
  19. I'm really disappointed by this news. There are plenty of parking lots to infill before structurally sound buildings need to be torn down. I realize the library want's to unload the property but this is a shame.
  20. ^Ha! At the Downtown Commission, LC stated that their Goat restaurant will open next month and that Trautman move-in is summer 2018. Beaty and Matan move-in was listed "late 2019".
  21. The Out of Town project is framed. The distinctive roof line is beginning to take shape.
  22. The Kaufmann project is rolling along. A pre-cast parking garage is being assembled on the north side of the site.
  23. Took a look around Franklinton during lunch. The mass of the Casto project is really changing the feel of W. Rich.
  24. Geotech work is underway. A couple of soil boring rigs are working along the railroad tracks and W. State St.
