Any word on their thoughts on the Borror and LC projects? As for this tower, I think it is much improved. Hopefully they really do have tenants and financing lined up and can start ASAP! The Borror project was approved. LC said they are trying to "move from red to black" by lowering the cost of materials in Matan and eliminating a floor on the Beatty. Both changes were approved.

It reminds me of something that would be built in Toronto, albeit much shorter.

My body is ready. Any comments on the dreaded LED signs? The giant LED screen is gone, replaced by a steel mesh and tinted windows to hide the garage portion. There is a marquee sign with a blade extending up 80' or so. That's all LED but it's designed to be a part of the building rather than a wrap. The commission didn't have any issues with it. There are LED strip lights delineating some of the floors.

I attended the Downtown Commission meeting - the tower was approved. No word on retail tenants, hotelier or groundbreaking. I think the project looks pretty good.

The parking lanes will be made permanent so they can be narrower. That extra space will be added to the sidewalks. Trees will be in planters for the most part to promote better growth - similar to what's been done south of the cap across from the convention center. Some trees I believe will be in grates if there are space issues. I believe all overhead utilities will be moved or buried. Once complete it will be a better pedestrian experience.

The High St. streetscape project is in the site clearing phase, exposing the Short North's architecture. It really feels bare without the trees.

It doesn't have anything to do with weight. It's an aesthetic and a cost decision. Relatively inexpensive panels creating the illusion that the upper floors disappear thereby making the lower portion appear more prominent. This isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Nice looking project! Smart move to keep the variance in the University District to avoid the Clintonville Area Commission! I think the display with the section through the building shows how visible the building will be from Arcadia.

I agree! E. 5th Ave. could be transformed into a nice commercial corridor.

Steel is going up on the 711 project. I also noticed that the streetscape project has begun with utility work and tree removal.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from I-70 it looked like the tower crane for the LC Trautman project has been removed.

The City has placed message boards at 3rd and High and at the Cap indicating that streetscape construction begins on January 8th. It's going to be very difficult to drive through this stretch of High St. with the ongoing public and private work.

^Is it a CDDC issue? The only developer that's working out OK is Daimler/Kaufman. Carter (Highpoint) and LC (who may finish their buildings this decade) have been disappointing. CDDC has done well with park development but their track record with developers is pretty mixed.

The tower crane has been removed at the River's Edge project. Wonder when we'll hear about the 3rd tower? It will probably be built before the LC projects in River South are completed...

There really has not been that much progress on the exterior of the LC Trautman building. Same with the Beatty. So Slow......

Looks like this project on W. Norwich is moving forward. This is quite an excavation with a lot of rock to haul away. Has anyone seen a rendering of the final project?
