  1. ^I noticed that too. Is Preferred Living is using it as a field office/lay down yard/parking for the construction site next door? I haven't heard of what may become of the store site.
  2. I like the plan and potential the area has. I've always thought the northern edge along 670 would be a good location for 20-30 story apartments to take advantage of park and downtown views. The article mentions pedestrian connectivity to Express Live and Huntington Park, but the intersection of Vine and Neil is awful for pedestrians. If this is one of the goals then the intersection needs to be addressed.
  3. I've heard rumors of this for a couple of years. Basically tearing down the University City strip mall and replacing it with a 6 story building (retail with 5 stories of residential). There's a 2 level parking garage. No commitment from Kroger if they will return to the center. Unfortunately the confusing mess of outparcels will remain. http://www.columbusunderground.com/major-redevelopment-planned-for-university-city-center-on-olentangy-river-road-bw1
  4. The north end of the Wellington has reached it's full height.
  5. According to this report CPD and Homeland Security are investigating. http://nbc4i.com/2017/06/15/facebook-post-calls-for-the-killing-of-lgbtq-people-ahead-of-pride-parade/
  6. It's actually in Torrance, CA. Thanks, I had thought the Honda Heritage Center was the HQ but only some of management is located in Marysville. http://www.autonews.com/article/20160125/OEM/301259964/honda-makes-moves-but-will-stay-in-california
  7. ^Honda's North American HQ is in Marysville.

I'm a lifelong Columbus resident - I came over here when CU closed it's forum. I've always explored my City and I'm interested in it's history and how it grows. My profession involves me in many of the projects discussed on the Forum. I am amazed at the transformation occurring on High St. from Downtown to campus. I think the increased density is a good thing for our city (even though there's a ton of suburban construction).
  9. Honestly it fits with the fabric of that block with the commercial space being filled out and the LC buildings finally coming along. 225 fits with the modern fabric of it's side of the commons, I think all is going to be well once this neighborhood is finished. HighPoint isn't great architecturally especially where it's most visible - on the Commons side. It does however create a nice continuous wall along High St. Most of the retail spaces are filled in so that's a positive (took a long time...). Let's hope Plaza Properties will rent out the empty storefronts across High.
  10. I've always liked this building in West Franklinton but it was supposed to be torn down as part of the 70/71 split project. Now that the 70/71/315 interchange work is probably decades away the building is being converted to condos. I'm glad to see renovations are underway. http://www.columbusunderground.com/renovation-of-bellows-school-underway-despite-i-7071-split-plans-bw1
  11. I noticed a couple of new projects underway along High St.: 1. The UDF is being demolished and the site is cleared. 2. The Stonewall building at 4th and High is cordoned off with construction fencing. It's going to be a busy summer along High St.
  12. My morning commute - cranes as far as you can see.
  13. Looks like there will be a new southbound ramp that goes beneath 315 to North Broadway. Also, the ramp from 315 to eastbound North Broadway will be eliminated. http://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2017/05/25/route-315-redo-direct-ramp-to-ohiohealth-hq.html?ana=fbk http://wcbe.org/post/detailed-look-infrastructure-plans-surrounding-ohiohealths-new-columbus-hq
  14. CU is reporting recommendations for a 1000 room hotel. Rather than considering it an addition to the Hilton, why not push for a 1000 room tower at the site identified on the right side of the image below? http://www.columbusunderground.com/experience-columbus-identifies-sites-for-hotel-expansion-by-convention-center-bw1

  16. ^Thanks for the clarification. To add to the overlap, the Downtown Commission's north boundary is 670. I still think the boundary between the SN and Downtown is 670 regardless of which SID maintains the area.
  17. Looks like the UDF project at 1st and High is underway. Crews have begun the MOT work (striping, closing a lane, etc).
  18. I was just trying to be funny - this area is covered by the Capital Crossroads CID and is considered to be within Downtown. It was just sloppy headline writing by CU. Phase 2 & 3 of the High St. improvements are in the Short North. Phase 4 is in the University District. Just a pet peeve of mine.
  19. Has the southern edge of the Short North moved further south?
  20. Tower crane installation has begun at the Taco Bell site.
  21. Looks like the High St. streetscape project is wrapping up on the convention center side and ramping up on the west side of the street (Convention Center Way to Goodale - Phase 1 of the High St. streetscape project). Crews were on site this morning to remove trees.
  22. I believe all the trees are being removed. The new sidewalks are wider so curbs and walks need to be moved and regraded. I don't think the trees can survive the construction even though most are tough honeylocust trees. Looks like the City is placing trees in open planters like in the Arena District. That's ultimately better for the long term health of new trees. The presentation at the bottom of this page is pretty informative: https://www.columbus.gov/highstreet/
