2022 U.S. Senate Race
Probably not worth wasting the time/energy on this clown since he's not polling above 5% in the primary but come on lol.

Is this sarcasm or do you generally not like casinos and are glad the people who live in/nearby "Westland hell" have to deal with the casino?

Bold take here from Vance as a GOP primary candidate to come out in favor of removing Confederate statues and renaming military bases.

Rethinking Transport in the USA
We just rented a car for a week through Turo because rental car prices are just ridiculous (imo) right now. It's an AirBNB type of thing. It was all through an app. We took some initial pictures, got the keys and fob from a lockbox on the window and off we went. Same thing when we returned it.

DarkandStormy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWoof. No idea what the Downtown Commission is doing. They look just as bad as the Schiffs here, imo.

Ohio: General Business & Economic News
This has been mentioned in this thread and throughout this site I believe...but do you really think New York businesses (or, rather, their owners/execs) are unaware of the tax rates or rental rates in other locales and are being educated by some billboards? I haven't paid a ton of attention to the details, but do you have any NYC businesses that moved to Ohio and cited the lower taxes or lower rent (or the JobsOhio ad campaign) as the reason for moving here? I'm not saying there aren't reasons businesses move to Ohio - but I am saying the way JobsOhio is trying to market Ohio to businesses in NYC, Chicago, California, etc. where these goofy billboards have popped up is hilarious and I don't buy for a second that they've had really any impact. This is not to say that Ohio hasn't attracted businesses. What I and basically everyone else here has done is separate that from the horrendous billboard ads by JobsOhio.

Ohio: General Business & Economic News
I thought the tweet I posted summarized it pretty succinctly. The marketing campaign by OhioJobs is hilariously bad and likely has no impact on the link you posted.

Yikes. Can't remember if I shared a few months back, but a lot of people on social media seem to be complaining about the company:- Smart Columbus
Did any of this happen? If so, is any of it staying?- Hyperloop
Is this supposed to be a design feature? One bullet-sized hole would derail the whole thing? And we're talking supposedly miles upon miles of a connected tube? Ok. I'm not saying a hyperloop will never happen. I'm saying this isn't anything new. It's been discussed for over 100 years with very little progress made. Plenty of people and companies are throwing money at it but even prototype trials haven't yielded much in the way of results. Anyway, here's 90+ minutes on similar concepts if you have the time - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaRVy31lTlQ- Hyperloop
Do you understand that a single hole about the size of a dime in a miles long tube essentially derails the entire point of traveling in the hyperloop? Or are you just whatabouting to something else?- Ohio Energy Bailout Referendum
- Columbus: Downtown: Lower.com Field / Astor Park
That's a great connotation for a major league sports team, right?? I was immediately reminded of Guaranteed Rate Field (or whatever) where the White Sox play - and the logo is a giant red arrow that points downward. Lower.com hasn't even existed for 3 years. But good for them, I guess. Hard to believe none of the other businesses in the area could match what they offered so that the naming wasn't so awkward/terrible.- Hyperloop
Plenty of smart people have debunked the idea of a hyperloop - or, at the very least, have raised serious doubts about the practicality of operating a hyperloop. Again, the idea of a hyperloop - transporting people (or goods) in a vacuum tube - is not new and has been an idea for well over a century. If you are interested in some of the hurdles faced from an engineering standpoint, I'd suggest thunderf00t or "Well there's your problem" on YouTube.- Ohio: Fortune 500 Companies Updates & Discussion
Another note - I filtered only by Ohio. Not sure if there are any Fortune 500/1000 companies in the Cincinnati area that are HQ'd in Kentucky or Indiana.- Ohio: Fortune 500 Companies Updates & Discussion

Some other Ohio observations: -Huntington fell out of the Fortune 500 after ending last year right on 500. -In a battle of the insurance companies, Progressive overtook Nationwide (Nationwide's #s look to be way down...odd). -Express is out of the Fortune 1000. -Scotts jumped 146 spots to 607, the largest # jump among Ohio companies.- Ohio: Fortune 500 Companies Updates & Discussion
https://fortune.com/fortune500/2020/search/?hqstate=OH Something doesn't quite add up. Cleveland Cliffs was not even in the full Fortune 1000 list last year, but if you do the math on the % increase of their revenue, they should be. The increase in revenue ranking is on a % basis. They apparently did 169% more revenue in 2020 than in 2019, but the rankings come out the following year. Although, thinking about the math, I think I'm doing it wrong. If they did $2bn in revenue in 2019 and then $5.354bn in 2020, that's a 168% increase in revenue. So, yeah, that would have kept them out of the Fortune 1000 last year.- Cincinnati: Mayor John Cranley
I was with you until "defund the police." Was Cincinnati's police budget cut in the last year? Anyway, didn't realize one of the Dems top governor candidates for '22 was going to align himself with...*checks notes*...Jim Jordan. - Columbus: General Business & Economic News
