Well, this aged well. The much hyped SnowMageddon was mostly ice. Snow forecasts were off by 50+% in some places.

Perhaps I took "very pleased" as a tone of celebration. These employers can't keep their employees safe (pretty good evidence out now that covid is being transmitted in-game, the NHL completely bungled the Vegas situation "waiting" on covid test results after a presumed positive but let the teams play) but ~2k fans should be permitted into the stands. Makes sense. If they're going to do it, they should let vaccinated healthcare workers in first for a few games. Of course, this being the NHL, they'll manage to screw it up I'm sure.

40+ NHL games have been postponed/cancelled this season due to covid. A bit tone deaf of the team (on their social accounts) to be celebrating possibly getting the arena filled up to 10% of capacity when there are teams in the NHL *right now* with team-wide covid outbreaks.

We're forecasted to get ~12 inches of snow by next Thursday in central Ohio. That is, if the forecasts actually hold true (they won't...right?).

Hmmm...UO discounts available? lol I have a friend who was a semi-pro (I guess?) rollerblader and used to snowboard but then transitioned to skiing. He said it was really easy for him. So, yeah, rollerblading / ice skating transition very well to skiing. Skateboarding is a little more akin to snowboarding. You are right on the rest, though there aren't really any cliff drops in Ohio. Even the "black diamonds" here aren't that bad compared to actual mountains. They do have beginner areas where you just take a carpet lift up if you want to get the hang of working your edges, which might be a new concept compared to roller blading. Mad River has more trick areas (I believe?) than the other Ohio resorts if you are into that part of it.

Florida imposes a 5.5% tax on all corporations and Texas imposes a 1% corporate income tax. Individual does not equal corporation for tax purposes, despite what Citizens United decided. Anyway, I think we should probably move all billboard discussion to an Ohio Business thread. Mandel kicks off his campaign running farther to the right. Going to basically just run as the Trump candidate. I'm curious to know about what caused his abrupt departure from the 2018 Senate race. What was supposed to trickle out never really did. EDIT - looks like he and his wife divorced in 2020.

If anyone is making decisions about moving a business, they know the corporate income tax rate of each state. They know Ohio levies a Commercial Activity Tax. They know the municipality tax mess you mentioned. Etc. Etc. I'm not sure why our state thinks putting up some billboard ads is going to change anyone's mind.

You do realize the ads are targeted towards corporations, right? Do you think those bosses simply don't know Ohio has a 0% corporate income tax rate (though we do levy a commercial activity tax, so...)? And if they were so naive before about Ohio's tax rate, you think a billboard is going to get them to move here?

A little bit off topic here, but I've seen some twitter users poking fun at the "$0 corporate income tax" billboard ads Ohio has apparently taken out in Chicago and New York (and perhaps other cities) as a way to try to entice people to move here. Yes...spend ad money trying to recruit "coastal/liberal elites" about how you don't tax corporations (and thus, have less to spend on things like education and housing). I'm sure that'll convince them!

Except the two states are trending in opposite directions.

Georgia's population is about 9.5% Hispanic. Ohio's is under 4%. Georgia is much more diverse than Ohio and a bit younger as well. The Black % of the population is more than double what it is in Ohio.
