  1. ^Employees posted that they routinely paid their employees late and that this last time, they all walked out after not getting paid.
  2. Columbus is flat as a pancake, so you want find any climbing, naturally at least. At the Scioto Audobon Center they have an outdoor climbing wall and Vertical Adventures is an indoor option. I would check out any of the metro parks for some outdoor hiking and make a trip to Hocking Hills (hour or so southeast of the city) and/or Cuyahoga National Forest (two hours north/northeast of the city) for some bigger trails. Amusement Parks - check out Zoombezi Bay water park and zoo, not far from Lewis Center. Take a day trip/weekend to Cedar Point and King's Island. Crabbing - does not exist in Ohio, but there is fishing Civil War history - there's actually a lot here. I believe on Veteran's Day they fire off some old replica cannons. I would check out the Ohio Historical Society. Zip lining - Hocking Hills. Also, close to you is Camp Mary Orton (and someone mentioned ZipZone) - they offer zip lining and ropes courses. https://campmaryorton.org/ There are stand up paddle board spots along the Scioto River, plenty of disc golf courses (if that's appealing to you) around, there's a training course at Scioto Audobon Park with things like tire flip, scaling a wall, etc. etc., plenty of bike trails, there are zoomba, yoga, etc. classes for free at the Columbus Commons, it sounds like you'd like the Olentangy Indian Caverns. There's plenty to do in Columbus if you know where to look.
  3. Nationwide One at least has a lighted logo at the top of both side of the building and uplighting that lights up the edges ~halfway up the building, more or less. Nationwide 2 is east side of High Street and not really part of the skyline - think you're referring to Plaza 3, which yes does have lighting at the top of the building.
  4. Love Obetz having no leverage trying to squeeze the last few dollars they can out of the Crew/Haslam group.
  5. It has passed the House by a 51-38 vote. Speaker Householder had said he'd wait until August 1st to bring it to the floor when the House reconvened, then Sunday night called a Tuesday session, and the GOP even nearly sent a taxpayer funded jet to pick up some House members from Chicago Monday night to ensure they'd have the 50+ votes needed. They didn't send the jet, ultimately. Indications are, yes, DeWine will sign it.
  6. Ohio GOP wants to bail out a plant in Indiana.
  7. ^Very cool. Still amazing/surprising to me it will have taken the city 20 years to build something 300+ feet since the last one (Miranova, 314 ft in 2001).

Hyuandai Kona Kia Niro / Soul (LOL at Soul EV sales though) I'm not sure, but I think those are only available in states that have their own incentives (California, New York, etc.).

Much like the developer, you're severely underestimating demand based on perception/history.

My friend believes TSLA will go to $1,000/share because Musk is actually building a fleet of robocars and that will generate so much more revenue with very little expenses involved because they'll be a B2B company. Musk makes outlandish claims all the time about his products and the fanboys eat it up. A bunch of people just left their autonomous segment because they weren't meeting Musk's ridiculous timeline to get it done. Even if they somehow get a million self-driving Teslas on the road in a couple years, where are they going to go when they need charged? Plus, I'm much more inclined to trust a driver from Uber/Lyft than a car with no driver that hasn't yet demonstrated Level 5 autonomy, especially when on some of my trips it's not entirely clear where a good drop off point is. https://www.motortrend.com/news/tesla-elon-musk-interview/ When you're CEO of a company bleeding money and admit you don't do any financial analysis....
  12. https://www.parksedgecondos.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Parks-Edge-Pricing.7.11.2019.pdf Already, they're down to 8 available condos out of the 151 units, which suggests they greatly underestimated the demand for this area (hey, 100% tax abatements drive up demand - who would have thought??). Hindsight is 20/20 but a bit disappointing they didn't go taller.
  13. Touching on the development others have talked about, in whole, here's a piece today putting it all together. https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2019/07/17/northern-arc-downtown-becoming-a-billion-dollar.html Northern arc downtown becoming a billion-dollar boom town: Here's what's planned
  14. Plaza One - BrubBrubaker/Brandt and Harrison & Abramovitz Plaza Three- NBBJ 280 - I think the same? Anyway, NRI wasn't established until 1997.
  15. There's more height and density at Dublin's Bridge Street District.
  16. Think it might look something like where Nationwide Retirement Solutions moved to? Link
  17. Gotcha. Thanks. The article doesn't mention anything about multiple buildings so that's probably why I was getting confused. Those lots suck. Sure, for monthly parking they're the cheapest in the area, but they're not even paved and hardly ever monitored except for big events.
  18. ^More tax breaks. Cool, cool. I'm a bit confused. They expect the project could be "up to 500,000 sq ft" but NWD Investments (or NRI) is starting the project at 130,000 sq ft - 80,000 of which Chipotle will occupy? Am I reading that right? How do they expect to fill in the other 370,000 sq ft?
  19. ^The city has had one building over 300 feet (Miranova at 314") built this century, and that was in 2001. The North Market Tower may or may not cross that threshold (no real details given on height that I've seen, maybe I missed them). The original design had it at 350+ feet, but with the reduction in floors, it may be around 300 ft. Both Millennial Tower (should it get built) and the Hilton Tower are pegged for 375-380 feet. 20+ years without any real addition to the skyline or height above 300 ft is a long time to go for a city that is "booming" and has a housing shortage.
  20. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/27173938/are-rockets-better-pressure-russ-harden-now Rockets send CP3 (and a couple 1st rounders and some swap picks) to the Thunder for Westbrook. Thunder in full rebuild mode with *a bunch* of picks after jettisoning Paul George and Russell Westbrook.
  21. Some guys come up with a transport idea in theory. Some young tech/engineer bros jump on and declare they have a business without ever having tested it for proof of concept.
  22. Sorry, what I meant to convey is that the argument requires us to believe that population growth via annexation only "counts" (whatever that means) if the land was already developed. Let's say Lincoln Village was built up, then got annexed once the population there grew. Then it's "ok?" I'm not sure how annexing mostly empty land, then working to get it developed which leads to population increases is *worse* than annexing areas that already have neighborhoods and population. Sure, it's a "one time" population increase but the work has already been done to get people to live there. And to jonoh's point - where is the cut off? What about farmland that was annexed in 1850? or 1890? The argument of "the population increase in Columbus is boosted because the city annexed mostly empty land 60-70 years ago and that's now being developed today" is different than "Columbus has gotten its population increases largely because of annexation."
  23. Your argument requires us to believe population growth should only happen on land that is already developed. That's laughable.
  24. This argument can be made against any city that has annexed any land, ever. Lol.
