  1. Only until the state is able to find a more "humane" method. It's not out of some renewed sense of being "pro life."
  2. https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/uk-news/millennials-spend-more-3000-year-15854345 Wtf kind of garbage reporting is this? "Grown adults spend ~$83/week to subsist and seek pockets of joy in the hellscape we've crafted for them" as if clothing and food are optional expenses now?

I apologize if this should go in a different thread, or be titled something else (DeWine governorship?). By other candidates, does he mean "himself in the past?"
  4. We have official word from Amtrak. Columbus "only" the 2nd largest city without passenger rail in the U.S. We're #2! We're #2!
  5. This team was 12-1. It's just very odd they're 4-8 in their last 12. Hello NIT (if they can manage 2-3 more wins which isn't a given at all).
  6. FYI, I believe all notifications are turned off now.
  7. ^Isn't this basically the same proposal from two years ago? And I believe if those buildings are built it will take over both the university run farm adjacent to North Star Rd. (not the ones on the north side of Lane) as well as force the complete demolition of Fred Beekman park, no?

My amateur guess is that they are alone, perhaps in part because they don't know how to converse well with women, so they are trying to compensate by putting out a bat signal that they are a "TRU FEM ALLY" without realizing the over the top declarations are likely to turn women off.

  10. I mean, probably. My thought would be they could lay commuter rail alongside the existing lines - which if I'm not mistaken are used solely for freight. That said, it's more an idea of what could be put in place with minimal tearing up of existing roads, other land, etc.

And if the bulk of your driving is under 50 miles, let's say, then you're likely buying a much cheaper Nissan Leaf or even a PHV. You give up a 250+ mile electric range, but also save potentially $15k+.

  13. Well, basically every Super Bowl New England plays in is a nail biter, down to the final few minutes. And I know they've played in a bunch recently.
  14. Tom Brady has been in 16.98% of all Super Bowls. Tom Brady has won 11.3% of all Super Bowls. GOAT status certified.
  15. Last year it was 41-33 with some lead changes and came down to the final play. The year before it was an OT win after the Patriots came back from 28-3. The year before was...meh, Manning riding a dominant defensive performance into the sunset. The year before that was the interception at the goal line after the Seahawks decided not to run Marshawn Lynch for...reasons. Also featured a Pats comeback down 24-14 in the 4th quarter. So 4 of the last 5 Super Bowls have "tight games." Even 7 of the last 9 have been tight games (within 10 points at final score).
  16. Sorry, I meant to say rail, not transit. I posted this over in the COTA thread, but sort of applies here as well (mods - if the expletive is too much, please delete and I'll repost with a link): I understand this is just something someone sketched together and might not serve as the best model, but you get the idea. Not a lot involved in terms of tearing up existing roads/land, though you'd have to add commuter tracks alongside the existing rail lines that are used for freight - I don't think you can share them. As it is with this mock up, you do leave most of northeast Columbus and Linden several miles from any rail, so that would be an area to consider. Of course, I don't think this is even a serious proposal but just giving us an idea of what could be.
  17. If the expletive is too NSFW for UO, then please delete.
  18. "Biggest American city without mass transit rail" is the type of marketing slogan you don't just want to give up, though. EDIT - rail, not transit.
  19. Only a 9-story reduction from the initial unveiling (LOL).

They literally show multiple men in the ad acting in a manner that they think is right/better (even "best" since Gillette is the best a man can get). The narrator even says at one point that some men are already stepping up.

"CARE ABOUT THIS ONE NOT REALLY ALL THAT FAMOUS RAPPER OR BE ELIMINATED FROM THIS DISCUSSION" is such a weird take.
  23. I think it was before - certainly before they re-routed a bunch of lines to 3rd, 4th, and Front Streets.
  24. I took the bus for a few months and it was in the 25-30 minute range - it was awesome other than when we got piled up at Broad/High and sat there for 5 minutes. But I usually just read, listened to podcasts, watched downloaded Netflix shows, etc. Beat driving 15-20 minutes, sitting in a bunch of lights downtown, paying for a garage, etc. In fact, the number of books has drastically decreased since we moved close enough to walk to work haha (can't read while walking...or at least, you can't do it very well).
  25. There is an app where you can pay via your smartphone now. You can also watch the buses in "real time" (maybe 30 second delay) to time your trip(s). It's really not that bad if you are within 5-7 miles of downtown, imo.
