  1. And the one with seniors saying O'Connor doesn't know what it's like to live as a... senior. He might even support environmental regulations!!
  2. Since no one is posting about cryptos much this year, I assume they aren't exploding by 5,000% in 2018?
  3. ^I believe the court records were sealed until last month when they became public at Courtney Smith's request. I might have that wrong. But if Urban says, "Hey, my wife is telling me about DV issues with Zach Smith, can you check the public records?" and nothing shows up and Zach Smith denies it and Courtney doesn't press charges, what is he supposed to do? Again, that's a lot of "if's" and I'm sure they are investigating with other coaches and personnel about what was discussed.
  4. James O'Keefe is teasing a new video set to come out today detailing that Urban Meyer knew. But...it's James O'Keefe, so get your salt ready. EDIT: Apparently it's under cover videos of players detailing other abuses.
  5. Is domestic violence covered under Title IX? I'm not a lawyer (obviously).
  6. So we don't actually have any proof (yet) that Urban knew of the continued pattern of abuse. We do know that he knew about their first 2009 incident (I hate calling it that), he acknowledged that. He said he and his wife got involved, recommended counseling, etc. From there, we have allegations that he knew/should have known. Undated texts to/from Urban's wife, Urban's secretary or something, etc. We also know Powell police were contacted NINE times, but charges were never filed. Allegedly, Urban's life coach (right terminology?) got involved and persuaded Courtney Smith to not press charges. So did Zach Smith's grandfather, Earl Bruce. A whole system failed Courtney Smith. She apparently was persuaded by many people, including Zach's family and hers, to put his coaching career ahead of her safety and the well-being of her children. That's just sad. Whether Urban absolutely knew or just "probably" knew of the continued abuse is the main question. I guess there's a remote possibility he didn't know. He's the only one who could impact Smith's employment and his 6 figure salary, though I guess Shelley could have reported it to the university? I just come away from the whole story very sad. There were so many chances for the abuse to be stopped, but everything seemed to be working against Smith - her husband's employer, her family and his family trying to convince her to not press charges, etc
  7. The Balderson/anti-O'Connor ads are embarrassing.
  8. https://www.cleveland.com/osu/2018/08/records_show_history_of_domest.html It's getting worse and OSU remains silent.
  9. Tressel was fired for far, far less. Additionally, he made a denial last week Tressel denied it (lied) to the NCAA. Lying to the press isn't a NCAA offense as far as I know. It's bad. For any normal high-ranking official, executive, coach, he's probably gone. But OSU fb is a borderline cult, so... Also, the goalposts on "fireable" have shifted massively since 2011.
  10. Sadly, OSU fb fans probably don't care. They want their 12+ wins and a victory of Michigan. The rest be damned. Heck, look at what the fans/cult at Penn State were defending with Paterno/Sandusky.
  11. His track record of endorsements in special elections is, uh, spotty.
  12. ^Chipotle shares were down like 9%, mostly as a result of this story.
  13. Things are going so well for Balderson he's calling in reinforcements this weekend from Donald Trump.
  14. These are pretty fun. Not sure how often I'll use without a promo/discount code (PM me for either Lime or Bird if anyone wants one). I can see the benefit for some, but also I can see the downsides. Hopefully more options out there that are successful pushes other transportation options as well.
  15. LeBron will be 36 in a couple years...

They already announced the Semi and Elon has already mentioned a Model Y (crossover SUV-ish) and a subcompact car in the works over the next 3-5 years (so, the next 7-10 years really).
  17. I actually think LeBron won't get any more rings unless he somehow puts his ego aside and plays 28 minutes a night as a 3rd/4th option on a loaded team. But that won't happen. Not even sure he gets back to the Finals, tbh.

https://money.cnn.com/2018/07/19/technology/business/tesla-downgrade/index.html 24% of the Model 3 deposits end up being refunded.
  19. https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Letter-from-Attorneys-General.pdf DeWine signs letter supporting SCOTUS candidate Kavanaugh and decrying "made up constitutional rights."
  20. Lol it's going to be a brutal year for Bron.
  21. https://www.refinery29.com/money-diary-new-york-city-marketing-intern-income I can't.

    The drink.
  23. This type of comment also serves as an example of what I'm talking about when I say "low road." It's something I'd expect in the Trump thread, but you guys seem to have been completely overcome by this type of hateful divisiveness. I've never voted a straight ticket before, but if this type of rhetoric is going to become the norm it might drive we towards that. Really? This is so maddening. Trump and the GOP have been taking the "low road" from square one. Trump started all the devisiveness and keeps stirring it up every chance he gets. Republicans invented the concept of calling people snowflakes and asking them if they need a safe space. But it's liberals that are overcome by hatefulness? Please. The discussion we were engaged in (read a few posts back) was about how for the most part, the "low road" tactics that permeate both sides of national politics now have not been seen much in Ohio state politics. Neither from the Republicans nor Democrats. Until now. Jim Jordan is from Ohio.
  24. I think you'll find mixed review on their work - particularly 600 Goodale and 250 80 on the Commons. The VV Commission really needs to fill that 7th seat though. Kaufman altered their proposal. what, four times? Different heights, varying units, different parking setup. It was 3-3 every time. Spare me the "blot out the sun" talk. It'd be less than a block affected. Walk down the street to the park if you need the sun.
