  1. She's a woman and our POTUS won't stand for that.
  2. Jerome Powell was confirmed yesterday to replace Janet Yellen as head of the Federal Reserve. A thread on the sexism that Yellen has faced as the first woman to be Chair of the Fed.
  3. Same. We eat out maybe 8-10 times/month, max.
  4. So...they're just balking at the idea that the LED board was the reason for the veto? EDIT - it looks like they're going with LED "blade signs" instead of the wraparound board. I think it got rejected because of "light pollution" so I don't know if this will fix that. Also, the new design looks hideous, imo. Previous rendering:
  5. It's not much different from the North Market, right? Except it'd be food only?
  6. Columbus...where we won't bother re-vitalizing our rail system, but we'll spruce it up to make it a nice biking trail.
  7. What are they doing with the streetscape/trees?
  8. Yes, an amazing OT stat. But...playoff games don't go down to 3-3 in OT. They're decided at 5 on 5 (+ or - with penalties, obviously). The Jackets are 14-18 in games decided in that fashion.
  9. Team is actually 6-0 in OTs. 5-3 in shootouts. Which means...they're 14-18 in regulation. Not a good sign.

  11. ^Over half of what he put in if he did a lump sum "investment" on Jan. 4th. Mark Cuban announced the Mavericks (Dallas) will accept crypto next season - possibly Bitcoin and Ethereum. I cashed out my ETH holdings last week - I had some FOMO and put $250 in, hoping to exchange it for XRP. But it was too volatile for me and broke one of my cardinal rules - at least somewhat understand what I'm putting my money in. I took my ~40% profit (all of $91 or so) and left the crypto game for now.

  13. Joe Lunardi has Ohio State as a 6 seed in his latest bracketology - http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/bracketology The team is tied with Purdue atop the league standings - and they have TWO losses on the #3 teams (Michigan, MSU, Indiana) meaning they could lose and still would be top two in the Big 10. I'm pleasantly surprised given that Holtmann nearly recruited guys off rec leagues this summer to fill the roster. I haven't watched much this season because of the apathy of the last 2-3 seasons and expectations being so low - I would have taken a .500ish league record and an NIT appearance. That said, they've firmly moved off the NCAA bubble and it would be more shocking now for a collapse down the stretch to miss the tournament. They have weathered early injuries (+ at least once suspension I recall). Of the four losses, I do remember the collapse against Butler and thinking the season was lost. But all four losses are "good" in that those teams are top 30 or so RPI teams I believe. The team is at Northwestern tomorrow night (tough game) followed up by FIVE CONSECUTIVE home games. If they can get through that stretch (that's a big IF of course) they'd be 12-0 in the Big 10 heading into the matchup at Purdue.
  14. IMO, this team is precariously close to missing the playoffs. The vets have mostly been a joke this season - the team is being carried by Panarin, PLD, Anderson, Jones, Werenski, and Bobrovsky. Bjorkstrand is a streaky player in his first full season. The rest? DISAPPOINTMENTS. They still have time to get it together but they've been outscored 7-2 the last 5 periods by the #29 and #30 teams in the league. That's pathetic.

Nasty habit. Nasty people. Update - still spitting. Still nasty. Still unexplained.
  16. You're simultaneously claiming bonuses (for 20+ years employees) and bumping the minimum wage to $11/hour are due to tax cuts...while they announce 63 store closures laying off thousands of employees all as good things and proof that the tax cuts work. Tell that to the thousands of employees who just got laid off without notice. They're probably able to pay for the bonuses and higher wages by closing the unprofitable Sam's locations and selling the real estate they don't need while alleviating the need for leasing warehouse space. The buildings they keep are getting turned into warehouses. They're closing 63 Sam's Clubs. Only 14 are turning into distribution centers.
  17. Costco is a good company. We share memberships to Costco and Sam's with family and routinely find better stuff at Costco.

  20. But...but...bonuses!! Look, bonuses! (Note - bonuses only given to employees who have worked at Walmart for TWENTY YEARS.)
  21. Uhhhhh....ok?
  22. Early draftees gone: Denzel Ward, Sam Hubbard, Jerome Baker Baker is a head scratcher - he had a pretty bad 2017 compared to 2016. Was a preseason 1st rounder and isn't projected much higher than the 2nd round now. More likely a 3rd round pick.
