luck? They didn't draft the guy. No one made them sign him. They chose to trade for him knowing all this was lurking out there. This is a mess of their own making.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't Watson pretty clearly *not* shown remorse? Re: Robinson - One odd thing is that she levied no fine, which she was allowed to do. She also levied "massages only from Browns staff", which she freely admitted she didn't have the power to do.

Hyperloop
Five years since Elon Musk claimed he received "verbal govt approval" to build an underground Hyperloop connecting NY-Philadelphia-Baltimore-DC. Two problems... 1) No one has ever been able to verify this claim, which now seems suspect at best (and did at the time) 2) Even if Mr. Musk had received such approval, his Boring Company bores at roughly 1 mile/week, at best. Given that the distance between New York and D.C. is some 240-250 miles, it would take the Boring Company some five years just to dig a narrow tunnel between those two cities.

DarkandStormy replied to seanguy's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionAgree with your whole post (the anti-transit portion I could go on for days about...but in another thread), but especially this paragraph at the end. I'm not sure exactly where I fall on this yet. I can see merits on both sides. Scioto Audobon is a great park for being ~1/2 mile from downtown. We go there all the time, went to a wedding there. For its location, it's pretty great. As for the legalities of zoning and all that, I'd have to defer to lawyers on that. That warehouse is a bit weird. I think there's a robotics company and a CrossFit gym there. Kind of bizarre to have to go through a metro park to get to it. That said, the unused peninsula area between the park and the train tracks is just a bit of a wasteland. It'd almost be better if they could connect Sycamore over/under the train tracks to get to that property location. I don't love the idea that the city can just start designating property around metro parks locations for housing or other development...defeating the purpose of the parks in the first place. As I'm sure others have pointed out, there are plenty of surface lots still available in the downtown area...and I'm also sure others have pointed out why the city wants to keep those as parking lots.- New Albany: Ohio One (Intel Semiconductor Facility)

Remember the QB-filled 2018 draft and no one really knew which one should go 1st? It went Mayfield, Darnold, Allen, Rosen in the top 10 and Lamar Jackson closed out the 1st round. I know a lot of people didn't like Mayfield #1 because of his short stature and the way he plays. The Browns, in four years, turned him from a #1 overall pick to a conditional 5th rounder. Incredible asset management. Almost as good as drafting a 28-year old quarterback in the 1st round.- Columbus: Restaurant News & Info

Turning a 1st overall pick (who got you into the playoffs and beat your archrival who has owned you for the better part of a decade) into basically nothing, while paying him $10.8m to not play for you because you traded your 1st round picks in '22, '23, and '24, plus your 3rd rounder in '23 and 4th rounders in '22 and '24 for a creep (at best) QB - and rewarding him with the most guaranteed money in NFL history - who hasn't played in two years and might be suspended for all or part of the upcoming season...is peak Browns.- Cleveland Browns Discussion

This is what the ramps will be once the full project is completed. https://www.nbc4i.com/news/local-news/columbus/i-70e-ramp-to-s-r-315n-to-close-permanently/ A few months ago, the I-70E ramp to 315N was closed permanently. https://rewindcolumbus.com/news/061160-downtown-freeway-exit-closing-for-2-years/ I'm not a transportation planner, but, uh, wtf? Just closing a bunch of exits seems like it's going to contribute to more traffic in the area, no? All for the low, low cost of $1bn already (and counting), probably closer to $1.5bn when it's all said and done. Build a train.- US Economy: News & Discussion
This person is probably one of the most unhinged, out of touch people in finance. She thinks *deflation* is on the horizon? Anyway, her firm is ARK Invest...named for Noah's Ark. She said she started her ETF because that's what the Holy Spirit told her to do. Her flagship fund is down 59% in 2022 and down over 75% from its all-time high (set in February 2021). She reiterated in December 2021 her expectation that her funds would return 40-50% annually over the next five years (an ROI unheard of in active management). Long story short, don't take this person seriously.- Electric Cars
