Where did you end up going? We need some Switzerland ideas. We like 2-3 days in a city and are doing a Greece to Italy to Switzerland trip soon-ish (all on points, so it cost us ~$250 for the flights, plus an intra-Europe flight was free through United). Our last two days will be in Zurich since that's where our flight home is out of, but we have time for 2 or possibly 3 stops in Switzerland. Seems very hard to narrow it down. Geneva is on the list of possibilities as is Zermatt, Interlaken, Lucerne, Montreux, etc. First time there.

Too late for Yabo, but I specifically have an unlocked Google phone that I can switch over to their Fi service (for a month) to avoid this. Works really well, but I ended up finding keeping the service continually in the state wasn't worth it for me.
  3. Let's assume this is correct. He's a creep who sought massages from at least 66 women in a year and a half period, massages that often turned sexual in nature. And let's assume, legally, he won't be indicted. The guy didn't play in all of 2021. The Browns *STILL* gave up three 1st round picks (and a 3rd in 2023 and 4th rounders in 2022 and 2024) and gave him the largest contract with the most guaranteed money in NFL history. And knew they'd have this headache to deal with. Sure, you can separate this out into a few avenues. 1) Legal 2) Moral 3) Financial Etc. etc. Even if he didn't have this baggage, is it a good trade? So far, I haven't seen anyone address why there are unnamed women who spoke to the NYTimes (or other outlets) who aren't suing Watson. They have nothing to gain financially. If your defense is, "well, not surprised that a bunch of women are suing a high profile, wealthy athlete" how do you explain those women? They're just making allegations up for fun?

Avalanche / Lightning would be a fun series - the two best teams the last 3-4 years. Colorado finally broke through this year but their final challenge may be attempting to slay the back-to-back reigning champs. That or face the best goalie in the world (Shesterkin) if the Rangers come back. The '16-'17 Avs remain a mystery to me. They went 22-56-4 for 48 points, one of the worst modern era records. They had on that roster Nathan MacKinnon, in his 4th year in the league. Every year after '16-'17 he's score at a more than a point per game pace. They had Matt Duchene, who wasn't yet disgruntled (I don't think). They had a young Mikko Rantenen, who is a career point per game player. They had Gabriel Landeskog, in his 6th year in the league and who is a very good player, contribute a career low in goals, assists, and points (only season under 20 goals for him). MacKinnon, Rantenen, and Landeskog have made up Colorado's top line for the past several seasons now and they're widely viewed as one of the best lines in the entire league. Of course, plummeting that season led them to draft Cale Makar, who might be the best player on the planet not named Connor.

  8. I'm sorry, just so I'm clear, you are insinuating that 24 women are all lying, in addition to several others who aren't suing Watson (and, thus, having nothing to gain) and didn't go to the police?
  9. Yes, there is. The Texans are being added as defendants in the lawsuits, btw. Was it out there that the Texans provided the venue that Watson used for some of the appointments? Was it out there a team representative gave him an NDA after a woman threatened online to expose his behavior? Was it out there that Watson booked appoints with at least 66 different women in 17 months (fall of 2019 to spring of 2021)? Watson has publicly said the number was about 40 different therapists. The Times interviewed at least one woman who did not sue Watson or go to the police. They also spoke another physical therapist who did not sue Watson but said he initiated sexual contact in all of their appointments.

National average is now $4.86. $5.09 seems to be everywhere in Columbus, fwiw.
  12. Mike DeWine loves to spend federal money and then turn around and rail against "out of control spending" by Democrats.

bro what? Are you paying attention to what the GOP is doing in Ohio? They refused to comply with the map mandate and instead have passed unconstitutional maps to keep themselves in power. What are you even talking about?
  14. Re: the bill arming teachers - it appears the GOP is trying to put a *CAP* on training hours (24).

It looks like the legislature is also on track to pass a bill banning trans kids from participating in sports. A Rep indicated he called around to sports associations and they had found 11 such incidents in the last six years, with zero complaints. Republicans...in search of a solution of a problem that doesn't exist simply because they hate trans people.

We are closing in on $5/gallon.

I've driven almost exclusively on electric around town, getting almost 3 miles/kWh (not the most efficient out there). It's also been great on road trips - get 45 mpg+ in the summer on the highway and can fill up in 3-4 minutes, depending on wait times (though it does hurt to plop down $40+ to go 500+ miles as a hybrid lol). My rough math: -call it 5,400 miles -about 83 gallons of gas (which tracks with the tank size and # of times I've filled up) -I could track the receipts, but it's around $250 spent on gas -we just did a long road trip, so it's around 3,500 miles as a hybrid and 1,900 as electric (it was about a 1,700/1,700 split before we left) -I've used around 650 kWh -of those ~650 kWh, I've gotten about 250 of them for free -400 kWh at home, at our current rate of $0.052/kWh (EDIT - $0.16-$.17 because I forgot to factor in both the delivery and supply charge), that's about $65 for EV driving (even if I didn't get the free kWh, it'd be about $104), not counting energy loss -so I've spent in the ballpark of $315 to go 5,400 miles, or roughly 17 miles per dollar. At 40 mpg (highly efficient sedans or somewhat inefficient hybrid SUVs) and $4.70/gallon, it's closer to 8.5 miles per dollar and obviously gets worse as you decrease your fuel efficiency (and/or increase the $/gallon).

Not saying this is related (correlation doesn't necessarily mean causation)...https://www.autoevolution.com/news/new-tesla-fires-keep-popping-up-they-are-now-six-in-a-matter-of-days-189531.html There may have been another last week. I think someone went down the rabbit hole and found that most of the vehicles that caught fire in the last couple weeks were '21 or '22 builds.
  20. Columbus grew by 0.1%. Elyria and Lorain grew by 0.2%. Otherwise, no other Ohio cities on the list for population growth that I could find.
  21. That's actually down from the 2020 estimate (49,373). The April 2020 estimate base was 49,359. Census in 2020 was 49,328 and census estimate in 2019 was 49,037. Population growth there has definitely slowed down (exploded in the '80s and '90s...and is now down to "merely" 18-20% growth each decade, but continues to trend down). 2022 will be one to watch - growth may have stalled out from 2019-2021 if the estimates and census were accurate. There really isn't a whole of area to add in new housing. I know along Hyland-Croy some new apartments (or condos?) went in on the land that used to be Jacquemin Farms and a small development of patio homes (or whatever the term is for mostly ranches with no basements) across the street). I think a new development is going in just south of there closer to Post Road. I think that's about it? Unless they're adding in units in the Bridge Park area.
  22. This was so utterly predictable.
  23. If ~$2.1 bn in annual revenue is the cutoff for the Fortune 1000 next year, I'll be interested to see if my current (hopefully soon-to-be former) employer makes the list. Columbus-based. I'll circle back to this post next year. We are already at $2.1bn TTM revs and probably on pace to end FY22 over $2.5bn if I had to guess.
