  1. ^Total attendance last night wasn't even 22K.
  2. ^So many flat surface lots that need to go - I think there's several more along High Street.

^You can see the malls back there, also covered in a sea of humanity.
  4. Lots of rumors flying now. Foligno and Bobrovsky apparently are being asked about, at the least. The buyout window closes on 6/30 - Tyutin seems like a good candidate if he can't be dumped for a pick. Some think Clarkson, but that cost is so high to do so. Perhaps there's an agreement he goes on LTIR for the next few years.

Btw, they replayed the radio call of the final seconds on the CavsTV stream. Good lord that's a horrendous call for the moment. "Unbiased" Mike Breen was better on TV.
  6. did you read the comments? Someone from California who supposedly went to OSU said this: "THe draw is that there are two good schools here- Ohio State and Oberlin." I wondered if "Sumi Allen" was even ever in in Columbus. I typically skip the comments. I saw Jeff Lake tout the generalizations of Cbus...from the '80's. College grads can't find jobs (false), everything closes at 5:00 (false), progressives being overthrown by conservatives (wut?), etc.

They can't even get to the rally stage area haha
  8. I'm not sure the appropriate place for this, so feel free to move if needed. http://www.nationalgeographic.com/travel/destinations/united-states/ohio/why-columbus-should-be-on-your-travel-radar-hipster-city-ohio-next-brooklyn/ At least one writer thinks Columbus is an untapped hipster hotbed. Fashion, craft beer, art, innovation, coffee, etc.

Now who does GM LeBron want to trade/sign/draft (if he wants to draft someone this year)?
  10. http://www.ohio.com/blogs/the-beer-blog/the-beer-blog-1.273124/platform-beer-celebrates-columbus-launch-this-week-1.691753 Platform launches in Cbus this week - I believe the brewery & taproom is set to follow later this year.
  11. I'm hearing lots of new-found optimism out of my friends, neighbors and most importantly, members of the media. The curse has been broken. The Monsters AND the Cavs? What can stop us now? They are ready to believe. If the Indians are still streaking at the All Star break, I think you'll start to see those stands filling up. Not even 16K last night.

    That's a stretch.

The cap goes up this year right? Plus if you can trade Love to Boston that frees up money and also adds rookie contracts instead of more expensive vets. They're not trading Love for picks. The team is firmly in "win now" mode with LeBron probably having 3 more seasons at his current level, and maybe 3-4 more beyond that if he can develop a Karl Malone-esque post game instead of having to rely so much on his outside shot. Moving Love out for guys who aren't ready to compete for a title makes no sense. The only way I see them trading Love is ... spit balling, if it's for Carmelo or some sort of package involving Eric Bledsoe.

http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20160621006116/en/Local-Broadcast-Television-Draws-Record-Ratings-NBA Cleveland was the #1 market drawing a 46+ rating. That might be low considering the thousands of people who gathered downtown. Columbus was #3 drawing a 30 rating. That's insane.

http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2016/06/21/Columbus-Smart-City-grant.html Huge get for Columbus. $50 million in federal grants plus $90 million pledged if the city won.

Love in the regular season is 16 and 10 with the Cavs, he's a 14 and 8 player in the playoffs, and he put up 7 and 6 in the Finals. They obviously need to figure out their 4/5 situation around Thompson, and whether or not Delly will stay as the backup PG. JR should probably turn down that option, so we'll see if he can work out a deal to stay. Other than that...how much does Dan Gilbert want to pay in luxury taxes again?
  17. It literally tells you - "We’re excited about the new use, which will have a focus on local spirits and local Ohio craft beers"
  18. Reports are already coming out that the Warriors want to sign Durant, and if not, then they'll go after Nowitzki. Will be interesting to watch what the Cavs do and if anyone in the East can put together a team to challenge LeBron/Kyrie. K Love seems to be a prime trade candidate based on his awkward fit with this team, but if the team moves on from Mozgov, it's basically Love and TT down low. With the evolving game play to smaller lineups, Love wouldn't be a horrible option at the 5 while Thompson rests, and vice versa. Is Love ok being a 12/10 role type player while winning? He's not featured a lot on offense because Irving and James need the lane open to operate and drive. We'll see what they do. Delly is a RFA, but if the team moves on from Mo they'll need a backup PG. JR Smith has a player option, but it's below his market value most likely. The cap is going to increase over $90m at least, so this summer will be intriguing to watch player movement. Durant is obviously the biggest name to watch. Does he commit himself to OKC? Go home? Go to the west coast? The Celtics have a boatload of picks at the draft coming up, similar to how they landed Garnett and Ray Allen, but those caliber of players aren't available this summer. Dwyane Wade can go where he pleases if he wants (Cleveland to start up the super team?), though he's well past his prime. I'll be curious what San Antonio does. I know Pop doesn't have a lot of time left coaching. They need to readjust their core around Leonard and Aldridge, who they picked up in free agency last year. Half their team this year was 34 or older. Will this be the offseason they finally get younger and move on from their big 3 core? Duncan at the very least seems primed for a retirement.

  20. ^And almost no one was there to see the 1st place team.
  21. Hartnell has waived his NMC and provided a lengthy list of teams to which he'd accept a trade, strongly implying there's a chance he is moved this summer. We'll see if there are any takers.

Never been happier to be so wrong. I thoughts the Warriors 3 pt shooting would prevail in one of the final 3 games, but they angered LeBron and you only anger mere mortals. What a historic performance in these elimination games. What a moment for Cleveland. I didn't grow up in NE Ohio, but my sports loyalties are there via my dad & family. They've been waiting much longer than I have. Now...are the area hospitals ready for a bunch of babies to be born in 9 months?
  23. http://drinkupcolumbus.com/2016/03/31/new-columbus-breweries/ This is old, but from the list I know Hoof Hearted's tap room / gastropub is up and running as is Kindred Artisan Ales. Three Tigers is mentioned above. 2 Tones was set to open this month - anyone have any info on that? Combustion is set for an October opening Is Grove City Brewing up and running? The number of breweries in the Columbus metro area will probably be near 40 by the end of the year, especially if you count crossovers like Platform, Hoof Hearted, etc.
  24. Another proposal...will any of these projects actually go in is the question.

^They have the Cyclones now. If the CBJ switch their ECHL affiliation to them, then Ohio has its own franchise lined up (fairly similar to the Indians organization in baseball). NHL, AHL, and ECHL all affiliated and all in Ohio. No need for an NHL team in Cincinnati. There are 6 NHL franchises within a 5 hour drive. The league wants a balance of 16/16, so adding a team in the Eastern time zone doesn't make sense.
