It's not like there's a 100,000 seat stadium a couple miles away that hosts concerts in the summer. Oh wait. There is. It seems like that was a dumb comment on top of piling on the citizens for not being proper futbol fans in the area.

  3. COTA looking to upgrade technology - eying digital pay options and wifi on buses. http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2016/05/25/COTA_moving_toward_digitial_payment_and_Wi-Fi_on_buses_.html
  4. While Columbus may in actuality have passed Indianapolis already, Forth Worth and Charlotte could end up passing Columbus in the next 4-5 years based on growth rates since the 2010 census. Columbus could pass San Francisco at some point, but that would almost entirely be because SF proper is only 47 sq miles. Ohio as a whole had net migration of -10,604 (natural increase provided an offset so total population change was positive). As Cleveland.com pointed out, basically all the substantial population growth is happening in central Ohio.

The other AHL series is Hershey and Toronto, also a best-of-7. Toronto gets 4 home games if it goes all the way to 7, but Hershey hosted the first two games. Very bizarre scheduling in the AHL due to arena scheduling conflicts and such.
  6. Change the name and re-do the video boards to something like the ad space on the side of the parking garage at the corner of Natonwide and Front. There are some simple designs on the west side of it that cover up the garage (if that's what they're going for).
  7. Via the Dispatch: I don't think it will happen for Columbus (other finalists are Austin, Denver, KC, Pittsburgh, Portland, and SF) but the city is a finalist nonetheless. Hopefully the $90m pledged will go towards actual public transit in the city.
  8. Even though message boards aren't as active as say, 10 years ago, I don't quite understand the decision. It shouldn't be that expensive for them and if it was an issue, just delete all posts from 5+ years ago. For website that wants to "connect" Columbus residents and visitors to the best Cbus has to offer, it seems like they are eliminating their best platform to do just that. Perhaps like the messageboards, CU has outlived its useful life. They aren't really doing anything unique from a local journalism perspective (mostly just puff pieces on local projects, restaurants, etc.) and with facebook events and other social media, their event calendar isn't entirely unique anymore. I'm not sure what I'm getting from CU now that I can't just get elsewhere. The messageboard had been a place I could discuss and interact with other people about all things Columbus. That's why I decided to register here :)
