  1. Mmmm crane porn! lol I don't really think it's unexpected though. It's a 6-story building with a large footprint. I was expecting some type of tower crane the whole time.
  2. To my knowledge, none of them have a pool.
  3. Not many, unfortunately. Off the top of my head: UA, St. Charles, Columbus Academy, and New Albany. Not having a pool makes it very difficult for the high school teams to train together. Many high schools have to share pools with other nearby high schools where they also have to schedule around swimming lessons, water aerobics, open swim times, club swim team practice etc. Furthermore, there are even less pools in Central Ohio that have proper diving facilities which makes training virtually impossible unless you join a club team.
  4. Anybody know when the 11-story Arlington Gateway is supposed to break ground?
  5. ^ A 28-story tower right in the middle of that sure would be nice ?
  6. The airport now has a live video feed of the new rental car facility project.
  7. Note that the slight softening in cargo traffic was more than offset by increases in cargo at LCK. Total cargo for Q1 2019 increased by 10 million lbs compared to total cargo for Q1 2018, and it increased by 20 million lbs compared to total cargo for Q1 2017.
  8. I agree. Let's stand and fight the haters together.
  9. ^ Agreed. This building is phenomenal. I really like how the upper portion is not overly imposing and actually seems to blend in with the sky. They really did a great job of making it mesh with the neighborhood from the street level.
  10. Financing for $220M Hilton expansion now in place as county facilities authority approves deal https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2019/05/01/financing-for-220m-hilton-expansion-now-in-place.html?iana=hpmvp_colum_news_headline The final step of approval for the first skyscraper to be built in downtown Columbus in 12 years officially took place Tuesday at the Franklin County Convention Facilities Authority's monthly board meeting. After approval of the agreement from both the city and the county, the last step before financing could be put in place for the $220 million Hilton hotel expansion was the authority's approval of the terms of the deal.
  11. It does look pretty bad in this picture, although the few times I've driven past it I've thought that it looks pretty good in person. I still wish this block could have at least been split into two different lots to drive the height up. Having one developer for this entire over-sized block is what drove the height down in my opinion.
  12. ^ I wonder how much work they've done on the inside....hopefully a lot considering the outside has looked like this for about a year.
  13. The LC buildings look pretty nice. Then again, they better if it has taken them 5 years to build them. It's pretty amazing how that intersection completely transformed in just a few years. Here's a little trip down memory lane to 2009.
  14. Oh gotcha. Yea it might be a few months after official groundbreaking before we see the crane for that project. Who knows, maybe Market Tower will pop up out of nowhere, the Hilton crane will go up quicker than expected, and this project will drag on. Three tower cranes baby! The AC Marriott may even use a tower crane, but I'm not sure. I think I saw they had applied for a crawler crane as opposed to a tower crane.
  15. I guess we just have to go underground then!
  16. ^ Speaking of adding flights...the ridership numbers are out for March and CMH continues its strong and steady growth, posting a 7.5% YTD ridership increase over the previous year. Spirit and United appear to be leading the charge so far with a 125% ridership growth and a 17% ridership growth respectively. American and Delta have experienced modest increases of 6% and 5%, and Southwest is flat to last year. Air Canada and Frontier are the only decreases, though they make up very little of the overall ridership meaning they have little impact on the totals. With new flights to San Francisco, Salt Lake City, and New Orleans still to come, it looks like CMH will continue another year of strong growth. Hopefully we can get a few more direct flights announced throughout the year as well.
  17. It kind of resembles the original building, which is pretty cool.
  18. What level of hipster do I have to be to live here? Seriously though, this is an awesome project with some of the most unique views in the downtown area. It will be even better once phase two is completed across the street!
  19. Yep, that's definitely very frustrating. Luckily it's a fairly skinny building and there are some surface lots at the corner of Main and High that are ripe for development. Hopefully someone can scoop those up and building something half decent with a bit of height.
  20. The new angle from the back side of the building looks really nice. This is going to be an awesome addition to our skyline.
