  1. What do you know that the rest of us don't??? Yes. We need to know the inside info. Spill the beans!!!! Hmm, haha lets just say all of your questions will be answered soon, just in a more... constructed... fashion. I look forward to construction starting soon then!

  3. Wow! This new design looks great. The project's web page is still saying that construction is scheduled to begin in 2018, though that could have been there since the page initially went up. This is definitely good to see though. It shows that there is still work being done behind the scenes and the project isn't dead.
  4. It's amazing what the redevelopment of the UDF site did for the Short North in terms of visual appeal. Very underrated project in my opinion.

Gee, do you think maybe the fact that the World Cup games were happening at 9am EST might have had something to do with low ratings? Do you think the fact that the USMNT failed to qualify might have had something to do with low ratings? I'm as big of a soccer fan as anyone and I was barely able to watch any of the World Cup live. I would record every game and watch them when I got home. Comparing the ratings for an NFL game happening at prime time to World Cup games being played at 9am EST between countries that most Americans don't care is probably one of the most pointless statistical comparisons you can make. Also, nobody is saying soccer is taking over football as the top sport in America. That's just not a thing. People are rightfully pointing out that soccer is, in fact, on par with other big pro sports in America such as NBA and NHL. It's hilarious that people like you are so upset by that fact.
  6. ^^ It definitely looked like the base for a tower crane. It was right in the middle of the construction area. I suppose my eyes could have been deceiving me, but that's what it looked like.
  7. I drove past this site yesterday and it looked like they had the base of a tower crane in place.
  8. Looks like work is scheduled to start next Monday, September 3rd. The crane will come shortly after. Does anyone know if work was started on the Borror project this week?
  9. Interesting. Maybe we could get things moving before the end of the year....
  10. An updated rendering: Yikes. This is a terrible rendering. I appreciate some of the light elements and such that they are trying to introduce but I really hope it meshes better than real life than this awful rendering suggests. Meh, I don't really care. I'm not sure we should be expecting too much in terms of architecture from a chain hotel on Olentangy River Rd. It's a good size and brings much needed hotel rooms to the area.
  11. 400 residential units is quite a bit in the relatively small area, especially when you will also have a hotel and office space. Maybe we will actually get something over 5-stories.
  12. Make sure you are looking under "Off Airport Cases" and try application 2018-AGL-15527-OE Looks like they are asking for a max height crane of 230' (Maybe because of the hospital) for a duration of 24 mos. Yes! I saw the airport facility as well! I also just looked and it seems they have set up a dedicated webpage to the new terminal and updates. Seems they are getting pretty serious about it finally. Anyway back to the Discovery District, Iv'e also been keeping my eye out for a crane application for the 230 E Long Street Development. I was looking at "Off Airport Cases", I just scrolled right past it at first. I see it now. But yea, I'm guessing it's 230 feet tall due to the hospital. I don't know why else it would be so tall. And yea I saw the dedicated page for the new terminal yesterday. It's exciting that they are starting on the new rental car facility.
  13. D'oh! You're right, I was just going by their FAA application project schedule dates. Thanks for reminding me I have a three day weekend! Is there a website where you can see these applications? Yep, its fun to check sometimes but currently only the Borror project has a height notification application. https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external/searchAction.jsp?action=showSearchProposedCasesForm Happy hunting! Thanks! I'm not seeing the Borror request, but I did see three tower crane applications for the new rental car facility at the airport with a start date of 8/23. I didn't realize they were already starting that.

  15. Looks like work is scheduled to start next Monday, September 3rd. The crane will come shortly after. Good. We need to replenish our crane supply. Two have been taken down in the past two weeks.
  16. How many of those people flying from Cincinnati to Nashville were just connecting through Nashville? Cincinnati to Nashville is only a four hour drive. Most people are not going to pay for a flight when it would only take four hours to drive unless work is paying. Even then, many people would chose to rent a car and drive or expense the mileage. This seems like a sensible move by Delta.
  17. Arlington Gateway was given the green light by the UA council last night. https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2018/08/28/upper-arlington-oks-100m-arlington-gateway-largest.html
  18. I'm fairly certain they released the report to the press immediately before the press conference. No, they released the 23-page summary after the press conference was over. Are you sure about that? I swear I saw reporters tweeting out screenshots of different sections of the report while the presser was going on.

  20. The crane on the left is being dismantled this coming weekend leaving with only one crane in the Short North for right now. I wonder how long it will be until we add another one.
  21. ^ To your last point, there is no way FCC would end up moving into a 30-35 year old football stadium at that point in time. If anything they would figure out how to add a couple thousand seats to their stadium. Also, the trend for stadiums is moving to smaller capacities, rather than larger. Even if soccer grows a lot here in the states, I don't think many MLS teams will be building 40-50,000 seat stadiums. I think 25-30,000 is about as high as any soccer specific stadiums will need to go, generally speaking.
  22. I like what I'm seeing here! This will be great for Franklinton. I will be interested how this meshes with whatever ends up going on the Scioto Peninsula in terms of height and architecture.
  23. I wouldn't say we have brand new arenas in Columbus. Nationwide Arena opened in 2000 and Value City Arena opened in 1998. They aren't much younger than the Q. Nationwide will probably be due for some upgrades in the near future. They just upgraded the video screen a couple seasons back. Value City Arena will probably be able to last longer without upgrades because it is a college arena. Also, Buffalo's arena opened in 1996 and Indy's arena opened in 1999. The only cities from that list with truly new arenas are Pittsburgh (2010) and Detroit (2017).
  24. I drove down High yesterday and it looked like they were working on the sixth floor of the Moxy hotel. It will probably start to be visible from 670 soon if it isn't already.
