Dublin: Bridge Park / Bridge Street District Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionIt appears portions of the 3D versions of Google maps have been recently updated in Columbus. One of those portions included the Bridge Street Distrct: https://www.google.com/maps/@40.0980746,-83.1128144,127a,35y,22.79h,72.13t/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en Some other areas have also been updated that are pretty much unrelated to this thread, but I will post them anyway: The new Big Lots HQ - https://www.google.com/maps/@40.0826015,-82.8579063,90a,35y,203.47h,72.7t/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en New Polaris apartments/offices and Ikea - https://www.google.com/maps/@40.1458118,-82.9752255,63a,35y,45.58h,72.46t/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en The new 8-story hotel in Westerville - https://www.google.com/maps/@40.1441954,-82.9410019,46a,35y,248.23h,75.24t/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en Unfortunately, the downtown and campus areas are still about 4 years outdated.

Columbus: Downtown: 80 on the Commons
I think the side facing the park actually looks really nice. It's kind of a unique look. Unfortunately, it kind of seems like they didn't even try for the rest of the building. If we could get some 8+ story buildings to go up on the surface lots surrounding it, especially the surface lot diagonal from this building, it would kind of soften the blow of how bad it looks on the other sides.

Columbus: Historic Photos
I've done a lot of searching for pictures of some of the towers that were constructed during the late 80s and early 90s but I have had a surprisingly difficult time finding anything. Even pictures of Miranova Tower have been hard to find (I've only found one). I think I've seen one early-construction picture of Huntington Center going up. I haven't been able to find anything of Riffe Tower, the Franklin County Courthouse tower, Three Nationwide Plaza, or the William Green building. Does anyone have any of these type of pictures, or know where I could easily find them?

Columbus Crew Discussion
MLS forcing Precourt to sell to a local investor group. Been trying to follow #SaveTheCrew as best I can, but is there a local investor group truly interested that has the realistic funds? Yes. There is a group of local investors that are very serious about buying the team and reportedly have the funds to do so. They also apparently have some solid stadium plans that would more than likely blow anything Austin can offer out of the water.

Columbus: Short North Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionSo when Democrats and Republicans work together instead bickering and calling each other Snowflakes and Drumpf Supporters, positive things can actually be accomplished?

Columbus: Victorian Village Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI have to believe that strip mall will be gone within the next few years. With almost every surface lot being gobbled up, I would imagine the strip mall and the old Dollar General (or Family Dollar or Dollar Tree or whatever it was) will be bought up and redeveloped soon.

Metro Columbus: Road & Highway News
Both Canal and Groveport have nice little downtown areas. Canal has a bit more in terms of little shops and restaurants though. I think Canal is a very underrated part of the Columbus area.

Metro Columbus: Road & Highway News
Two lanes is too little even during the middle of the day. The turnoff's near the farms are extremely dangerous too for the speed and amount 33 is traveled as well. Not to mention there is a frickin stoplight where Pickerington Road Crosses 33. It really needs to be built up as a proper highway from Lancaster all the way to 70.

Metro Columbus: Road & Highway News
I have not but in saying that I'm not surprised. Even with the current conditions they're easier to get to than Grove City. Also Groveport's new high school is only going to help. Yea, that new building is definitely going to help. It was much needed. I wonder how Canal High School is doing in terms of capacity. I have to think they must be getting close to full. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Pickerington has to start talking about a new high school (if they haven't already) within the next ~8 years or so.

cbussoccer replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & Construction^ Wow! I think this is going to be very controversial, but I'm personally a fan based on what I can see here. The height is definitely going to be a huge issue for some people I have to imagine. Also, where did you get those heights for all of the other buildings?

Metro Columbus: Road & Highway News
^ Actually, not sure if you have been out to those areas recently, but there is a decent amount of growth going on out in those areas. There are numerous suburban neighborhoods going up in Groveport around Groveport & Bixby Road, in Canal along Gender road, and in Pickerington along Diley road. I think you are right though, hopefully adding these lanes will decrease traffic a bit. If that can happen, I think it will make these areas much more desirable because they tend to be a bit cheaper than most of the other Columbus suburbs.

Metro Columbus: Road & Highway News
That extra lane on 33 betwen Hamilton and 270 is much needed. I think it needs to be three lanes all the way down to Lancaster. They also need to do something about the 33/70 interchange. The fact that traffic on 33 has to go through a stoplight before it can merge onto 70 going toward downtown is such a joke.

Columbus: Random Development and News
cbussoccer replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & Construction^ It looks like you have the 3D setting turned on. If you turn that off, the map is much more up-to-date. In 7-8 years, this area is going to look so different. It's really going to extend our skyline further north with the addition of a 35-story tower and a 23+ story tower. I think the awkward lot next to the Goodale garage is a good spot for another 15-20 story tower as well. It will be exciting to see all of the progress in the coming years.

Columbus: General Business & Economic News
I hate to agree, but I agree. If we get the HQ2 I will eat an entire Kroger's brown paper bag. It just will not happen. We will probably get a nice consolation note though. And I actually have become of the opinion that we will be better off not having it. I've got $100 on us getting it. You can take it to the bank.

Cincinnati in the 1980s!
There has been a bit of action in Columbus: 1998 - Fifth Third Center - 302 Feet 2001 - Miranova - 314 Feet 2007 - North Bank Condos - 267 Feet 2014 - James Cancer Center - 297 Feet So, nothing super tall, but two over 300 feet, one close to 300 feet, and another over 250 feet. It seems that we are about to see another skyscraper outbreak in Columbus, although on a much smaller scale than the '80s. In the next 6 or 7 years, we will likely see numerous skyscrapers built in the 200-400 foot range. Market Tower will probably be 400 feet. Millennial Tower will be something like 330 feet. The new building near the Greyhound station will be around 200 feet I think. OSU is going to build another hospital building that will be twice the size of The James (though not twice the height). The new Hilton hotel will also be 300+ feet.

Cincinnati: West End: TQL Stadium
And neither of those were mentioned by the person I responded to. I was just point out that the factors that person was claiming to be unique to Cincy, are actually not unique to Cincy. Also, I really don't know why you, or any other FCC fan would be so certain that they are getting in. This is far from a done deal. If it was a done deal, it would have been announced months ago like Nashville. Part of the hold up could be related to the Crew situation. There are fairly credible rumors going around that a potential local investors group met with MLS last week to talk about buying the team, and they apparently have plans for a new stadium. I wouldn't put it past MLS to be so stupid that they would be approaching this as "Columbus or Cincy, but not both".

cbussoccer replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionMy goodness I hate those surface lots between 670 and Nationwide Arena. I wish we could get something built on those ASAP. We also need to do something about those surface lots across the street from Huntington Park.
