Columbus: Population Trends
I didn't realize how much denser Columbus is than Charlotte. Charlotte is about 100 square miles larger than Columbus, yet they just now passed us in population. Kind of surprising.

Columbus: Downtown: Merchant Building
The Wexner tower topped out quite a while ago so it's already the 10th tallest building in the city, meaning the Merchant will be 12th once topping out. I would love to see more 15-25 story buildings pop up in the next decade. We have a good crop of tall (400'+) towers, but we lack towers in the 200-300' range to fill in the gaps. We currently have 11 towers that are over 400' tall, including the Wexner Inpatient tower, and another 8 (soon to be 9 with Merchant Tower) over 300'. Here is where we rank among some of our "peer" cities have: Total over 300': Cleveland: 22 Columbus: 19 (20 including Merchant Tower) Cincinnati: 18 (+1 approved) Milwaukee: 16 (+1 approved) St Louis: 16 (+3 approved) Kansas City: 15 Louisville: 14 Indianapolis: 12 (+2 under construction and 2 approved) Total over 200': Milwaukee: 57 Cleveland: 51 (+1 under construction) Kansas City: 45 Indianapolis: 38 (+1 approved) St Louis: 37+ (wikipedia list stops at 250') Columbus; 35 (36 with Merchant Tower) (+1 approved) Cincinnati: 28+ (wikipedia list stops at 230') Louisville: 26 As you can see we perform quite well when it comes to taller buildings, but we really fall when you move down to the mid-size towers.

Columbus: Downtown: Lower.com Field / Astor Park
Yea, adding these amenities to the downtown area would be really nice. I was in Curitiba, Brazil late last year and a few blocks from my hotel was a really cool public park that had a running track, outdoor basketball/futsal court, indoor mini basketball/futsal arena, indoor swimming pool, indoor workout facility, beach volleyball courts, playground, and walking path, all squeezed into a standard sized city block. It was really cool and was always busy. Granted, this was in central Curitiba which is far more densely populated than downtown Columbus, but I think something similar would be very popular here. Here's an overhead view of the park in Curitiba (this satellite imagery is a bit outdated as the park has been slightly reconfigured): Here's an aerial photograph of the park: And here is the Columbus Commons parking garage at the same scale: You could add a building similar to 250 High along 3rd, build a few underground parking levels, and have plenty of space to create an incredible sports park.

cbussoccer replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI just looked up his name on the auditor website. He lives a 10 minute walk away from this site. This tower has absolutely no affect on his property. He'd probably have to climb on top of his roof to even catch a glimpse of the top of this tower.

I look forward to the day someone opens a rooftop pickleball court on one of the downtown high rises. Rooftop bars are played out. Rooftop pickleball is the future.

I've seen surprisingly few pictures of the Miranova Condo Tower under construction. I stumbled on this skyline pic from around 1998 which shows Miranova under construction and also shows COSI construction wrapping up.

It seems like they still have quite a bit of work to do on the ground floor lobby/retail space as well as the outdoor area. Maybe that’s the last part of the project though. Would love to see this wrap up and open within the next couple months.
