  1. They were so much fun to watch this year. It will obviously be difficult to repeat with an MLS Cup again next season, but I hope they can replicate the style of the play. Next year’s season will be packed with action. Not only do we have the MLS regular season, we will also have the US Open Cup, CONCACAF Champions Cup, Leagues Cup, Campeones Cup, and the MLS playoffs if we qualify. Depending on how far we advance in each competition, we will play about 10 more games than we did this season.
  2. Too busy celebrating my guy. The sports section of UrbanOhio is definitely not the first stop on my celebration route, lol.
  3. You should definitely tune in. Even if you aren’t a big soccer fan, this Crew team is a lot of fun to watch. They essentially don’t care about defending at all, the entire game plan is geared toward scoring at least 3 goals. This results in a lot of 3-2 or 4-3 games which are a ton of fun to watch.
  4. Yep it’s on FOX. It’s also free on Apple TV if you already have an Apple TV subscription, meaning you don’t need the special MLS Season Pass subscription to watch it on there.
  5. It's also exciting that they got the crane up prior to the MLS Cup Final on Saturday. It will be nice to have two tower cranes visible within the downtown skyline for the skyline shots on the national TV broadcast.
  6. This season FOX/FS1 have broadcast a game every week, and I think the plan is to continue that next season. They also had about half of the playoff games as well. The thing is, every single game was also available on Apple TV. Most MLS fans (myself included) with MLS Season Pass subscriptions on Apple just got into the habit of watching on Apple and completely ignored the FOX/FS1 option. As a result, the ratings on FOX/FS1 suffered. I'll bet the same thing will happen for the final on Saturday. It's available on Apple and FOX, so Apple is going to take a lot of the eyeballs away from FOX.

Oh I totally get it. I’ve been a soccer fan for decades, and to hear people referring to a team as FC is hilarious to me lol. But I guess that’s the disconnect between general American sports fan and people who understand global soccer, and trying to mesh the two together. @Gordon BombayI can’t even begin to imagine your pain, lol

Wait….you guys refer to the team as FC?

Yea, every league game is available on demand for every team in the league. You don't have to record anything, they are all "recorded" automatically. Also, I just checked and they actually have most Crew games available to watch dating back to the 2019 season. There might be even more than that.

They currently have all Crew games from 2022 available to watch. They also have various other games available from throughout the years. So this season's games should at least be available on demand through next season.

Yes. If you sit down to watch a game after it's already started, you can select "watch from beginning" and start from the beginning. All games are also recorded and you can immediately watch the full replay after the broadcast ends. You do have to make sure you go into settings and turn off scores so you don't see the final score when you open the app if you are going to watch the game after it's already ended.
  12. This past Saturday was conference championship day for college football. The MLS games were going to be relegated to FS1, which continuously gets horrible ratings. They might as well just put it on Apple TV and continue to grow the subscriber base. This coming Saturday is like a barren wasteland from a sports standpoint. The Army-Navy game is at 3pm, but other than that there's not much going on. Early season college basketball. Early season NBA. Mid season NHL. Nothing significant though. So FOX wants something exciting to fill airtime and were probably willing to compensate MLS accordingly.

ESPN never paid MLS any attention. A couple years ago, they completely disregarded their pregame show for the MLS Cup Final because a women's college basketball game went into overtime. You actually had to flip over the ESPN News to catch the first few minutes of the MLS game until the bball game ended and they finally put the MLS game on ESPN. The only time SportsCenter ever talked about MLS, or soccer in general, was to us it as a punch line to a joke. ESPN was constantly hostile toward MLS and the sport of soccer, so good riddance to them. Amazing shot! As a longtime Crew fan and fan of MLS in general, I'm so pumped to have another ambitious team just 100 miles away. Crew victory aside, Saturday's game is something I've been waiting for for a long time. These two teams meeting in the highest possible stakes game (they can't ever meet in a MLS or US Open Cup final) was amazing and I hope we se more of it in the coming seasons!
  14. The Crew's radio announcer, Chris Doran, is way better than that. Still not great to listen to on the radio, but he's very solid. Apple TV gives you the option to listen to the home team's radio announcer instead of the TV announcers when you watch the game live, and many Crew fans will opt to listen Doran over the TV guys.
  15. The game winning goal from field level. Listen to the roar of the traveling Crew fans.
  16. I found it on r/Columbus. Forgot to include the url: https://old.reddit.com/r/Columbus/comments/189dn65/make_high_street_car_free_every_weekend/
  17. This has to be one of the most epic pictures in Crew history. Ramirez celebrating the comeback victory with 1,000 Crew fans in their rivals stadium. You love to see it.
  18. Eh, I don't think it was stupid. Apple TV gives them a global reach now, which is something they never had before. It also got rid of the horrible regional sports network issue which was blacking out fans in their own cities (myself included) from watching their teams. MLS is extremely regionalized, being virtually irrelevant in non-MLS cities. They've been trying to change that for 25 years, but they've had almost no success. The national TV ratings prove this. Apple offered them significantly more money while also providing them a product that actually makes sense for their business model. I would bet there as many people watching the game internationally as there were people in the US outside of Columbus and Cincinnati.
  19. The final will be televised on FOX as well as Apple TV, so no need to worry about figuring Apple TV out for just one game.
  20. They would have to do something to get Browns/NFL branding on the field. There’s no way the NFL would allow numerous games to take place on a field that’s completely branded for a college team.
  21. To be fair to the Browns, they are far from the laughing stock they had been for the first ~15 years after their return. They’ve actually been in the playoff picture the last 5-6 years and have even managed to make the playoffs and win a game. They are in a good spot to make the playoffs this year as well. They are on pace to break 50 wins over the last six seasons, something that took them 11 seasons to do before their current turnaround. They are finally a dangerous team with the ability to win just about any game no matter who they are playing.
  22. Huntington Park only holds 10k. Doing an outdoor game there would be pointless, unprofitable, and not at all exciting. Doing a game at LDC could be cool, but the capacity is only a few thousand more than Nationwide so, again, not profitable. You hold an outdoor game because it's a way to do something different and exciting, but it's also a well to sell 2-3x more tickets than you can in your arena.
  23. It still has quite a few floor to go doesn't it? Looks like it will be fairly visible from there once topped out.
  24. It definitely seems like the exterior still has a long way to go. I don't think we should be freaking out....yet.
