  1. See he didn't actually live an hour plus from a grocery store.
  2. I'm going to need an example, because this seems impossible. It would only take about an hour to drive from one corner of Licking County to the opposite corner, and you'd have to pass a half dozen large grocery stores in the Newark-Heath area on your way there. The NE corner of Licking County is probably the most remote part of the county, and it's only a half hour drive to Newark.
  3. I drove around the area on Friday, and it really is construction for miles. Not only is there the massive Intel site, but there's road widening work, utility work, and other separate projects all happening. It's crazy to see, and it's just the beginning.
  4. Downtown tends to be the worst with their agenda. Victorian Village and Italian Village are always posted way ahead of time.
  5. Which is still only about 35 minutes from downtown Columbus, without traffic of course.
  6. Yea, drive down 33 toward Lancaster and it happens in the blink of an eye.
  7. You have a very strange definition of country. Just look at the development patterns, land use, and utility availability. Are there housing developments, apartment complexes, or strip malls? No. Are there large farms covering 100s of acres? Yes. Do you have access to city water or cable? No. You are in the "country". Sure, you can get to a urban or suburban area relatively quickly, but that doesn't mean you aren't in a "country" area. Again, I don't know where you come from, but that's the way it is here. If you came here from the Boston-NYC-Philly-DC megalopolis, you are probably very confused about the concept of being able to go from city/suburb to country so quickly and easily. If you come from Nebraska, you probably think that what people define as being far from the city here is ridiculous compared to where you are from.
  8. You can drive 35 minutes from downtown Columbus and be on narrow "country" (am I allowed to use that term?) roads driving past massive farms and spotty cell service. That's pretty "country" to me. The below view is about a five minute drive from Buckeye Lake. The below view is less than a 30 minute drive from downtown Columbus and has very spotty cell service from my experience: I'm not sure where you moved from so maybe it's a lot different than Central Ohio, but around here the transition from city/suburb to "country" happens in the blink of an eye because of how prevalent farming has been here for hundreds of years and how quickly the city is growing.
  9. Awesome! Based on the renderings, it looks like the parking levels will be hidden pretty well. Let’s make it happen! This little section could end up with a nice little cluster of high rises over the next decade with this, the Greyhound site, and the Holiday Inn lot (if that can ever be resurrected). This entire district of downtown is ripe for redevelopment with the number of one story buildings and surface lots that currently exist.
  10. That seems like a lot of units for that amount of space. The HQ Flats which is part of the Hamilton Quarter development was 550 units for a lot that's about twice the size of this one. I wonder if we'll end up seeing something like a 6 story building here.
  11. Totally understand the risk. It would be planted in an open area on my property away from any structures that could be damaged. I want something that will provide a decent amount of shade fairly quickly, and I'm honestly not too worried about 10+ years down the road because I will most likely be moving before that point. I appreciate the recommendations though!
  12. Yea I wish you could look at historical imagery similar to how you can in street view. I've been messing around with the recent 3D updates and it's amazing how much is new. I was actually driving 670 westbound through downtown and got onto 315N yesterday and it's amazing how vastly different that stretch is than even just 5 years ago. Most of what you see, from the time you go under the High Street cap on 670 until you get north of campus on 315 has been built within the last five years or so. It's incredible.
  13. I drove by this site yesterday. Construction is well underway and I spotted the base for a tower crane!
  14. That’s exactly what I was thinking about. If they are going to produce something of that quality, I’m fine with losing the relatively basic facades. But if they try to do some basic contemporary BS, the commission better tell them to take a hike.
  15. Agreed. I could theoretically be on board with demolishing the two buildings in question, but only if the new building would be an architectural improvement. The two facades aren’t anything overly special, but they are better than a lot of what is built today. If the developers can improve what is there, I’d be all for it.
  16. I let you win so now you have to give us your inside scoops! Haha
  17. It's not even that though. Look at the rendering vs real life pics and count the number of "regular" residential floors above the garage portion. There are 7 in the rendering and at least 8 in the real life pic, maybe even 9.
  18. My theory is the guys pouring the concrete just got carried away and made the elevator (or hoist as I like to refer to it) shaft 1-2 stories taller than it was supposed to be and the general contractor just decided to deal with it, lol.
  19. That doesn't make sense though because I can count 14 floors already framed out, all above ground, with at least one more floor to go, but it was announced as 13 floors. If you go back and look at the renderings, you can only count 13 floors. Compare the two pictures below. It looks to be at least a floor taller than the approved design.
  20. From now on I will refer to all elevators as "hoists".
  21. Oh I see the light reflection on the window now, lol, at first look it didn't seem like there was a window in front of you.
