  1. NRI may overdo brick, but at least they tend to do a half decent job with it.
  2. Topping out complete on inpatient tower https://wexnermedical.osu.edu/mediaroom/pressreleaselisting/inpatient-tower-topping-out The highest steel structural beam is in place on The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s new inpatient hospital tower. The beam was installed 411 feet above ground level. It’s part of more than 15,000 tons of steel throughout the tower. The inpatient tower is 1.9 million square feet and 26 stories (24 floors) – the tallest building on Ohio State’s campus. It will have up to 820 beds and state-of-the-art diagnostic, treatment and inpatient services including 24 operating suites, 10 interventional radiology suites, imaging, labor and delivery, critical care and more. Each patient room will include a private bed, bathroom and space for a family member to remain with their loved ones during their hospital stay. A large, bright café with indoor and outdoor seating and surrounding park areas will provide restorative spaces for families to recharge. A 1,887-space visitor parking garage is connected. The inpatient hospital tower is expected to open in 2026.
  3. Here's what the building looked like when Wendy's was still open. I'd say it looks a heck of a lot better now.
  4. I found the filing for a 277' tower crane. It should be quite noticeable in the skyline from most vantage points. https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external/searchAction.jsp?action=displayOECase&oeCaseID=569754542&row=215
  5. Based on this plan, which I believe is the last detailed plan that was submitted to the commission, it looks like it will top out at 352'. I also found this FAA application for 382'. It says it's for a highrise/skyscraper, but I wouldn't be surprised if the 382' is the top out height for the tower crane. Usually you'll see an app for a crane and a separate one for the tower, but I only recall seeing one app for this project.
  6. CMH and LCK are only about 15-20 minutes apart and serve the exact same market. CLE and CAK are nearly an hour apart from each other and serve overlapping markets. For reference, CLE and CAK are only about 10 minutes closer to each other than CMH and CVG are to DAY.
  7. 7.46m through CMH and 293k through LCK. So 7.75m combined. For comparison sake, CVG had 7.6m and CLE had 8.7m.
  8. Be prepared to see far fewer projects happening if this is a requirement you want. The cost this would add to projects, both in terms of construction and ongoing maintenance, would be immense and likely make many of them impossible. The one benefit I suppose is that it would indirectly incentivize developers to just forego the parking garage, but that's only an option if the city steps up drastically on public transportation.
  9. If they can manage to get past 15 stories, I would be ecstatic. I'll believe it when I see it though as this still sounds very conceptual.
  10. Based on this, it appears to have topped out.
  11. I wasn't arguing. All I said was New Albany obviously wouldn't let anything go throw town, but there's plenty of empty land out there where the new highway would likely go.
  12. You made a comment about a highway running through New Albany. I simply pointed out that New Albany is powerful enough to not let that happen. I'm not sure how that's contentious. With that said, I don't foresee a second outerbelt being built. It would be massive and take many decades to complete. I do foresee a connection being built near Heath between 70 and 161 though. Maybe in the future it will extend to 71N. I also wouldn't be surprised to see it extended south of 70 toward Lancaster, but that would be the extent of it.
  13. You think New Albany is going to let a huge highway run their town? Don't be ridiculous. There's plenty of open land to build a second outerbelt on, just like the open land that 270 was built on a half century ago.
  14. This is on the upcoming agenda for February, and has apparently grown to 15-stories and 180' tall.
  15. If there's any street in Columbus where ten stories shouldn't be a tough sell, IT'S HIGH STREET!!!
  16. Yep, I think the OP on reddit was a bit confused or just worded it poorly. There are definitely people out there who don't understand the difference between an airport and a terminal, and to them a new terminal is a new airport.
  17. Ok, yea I remember the initial confusion around the height. The article I mentioned was within the last week or two, but I'm sure the author was referencing one of the inaccurate articles from the initial news.
  18. So this is confirmed to be 15-stories? I saw in a CBF or Dispatch construction roundup article this project being referenced as 12-stories or something like that. I assumed it was a mistake, but I couldn't remember if something had changed.
  19. Cosi is a great looking building surrounded by a submarine.
  20. That would be great! The Short North and Campus have dominated the tower crane scene in Columbus for far too long haha
  21. I believe a tower crane will be used. I'm pretty sure I saw FAA applications for one a while back.
  22. I can't wait to see a tower crane in the air for this one!
