  1. That tower crane is also visible on the construction cam for the new James Outpatient Care building which is wrapping up construction and has recently had its tower crane removed. It's pretty cool to see two tower cranes in UA at the same time!
  2. Awesome news! Lancaster has so much potential for good urban development. If we could build a commuter rail to connect Lancaster to Columbus, I think the residential area east of Memorial Drive and north of Main Street would become quite popular. Much of that area still has a 1950s neighborhood vibe in that there are still corner stores and businesses mixed in with the residential houses. It's actually a decently walkable area, and could become more so with more investment like this.
  3. This is pretty standard for ceremonial groundbreakings, especially during crappy weather.
  4. The press conference was in one of the VIP areas in the stadium, so this must be for something else.

He's world class in his position. Such a joy to watch. I think it's going to be difficult for Leeds to hold on to him much longer.
  6. Those pictures are crazy. The foundation of my 160 year old house looks better than that….
  7. Providing food recommendations along with construction pics. @CbusOrBustis really taking things to the next level, and I’m here for it.
  8. 250 High always surprised me because of the area’s constraints.
  9. Oh, no worries. I was just specifying in case it wasn't already clear.
  10. Sun Country said that their expansion to about five cities, including Columbus, is related to their MLS charter contract. It’s not speculation, it’s what they actually said. It might not work out, but I’m guessing they did a bit of analytical homework before finalizing this plan.
  11. Kind of a brilliant move. I'm assuming there are one or two flight attendants on the Crew charter flights, so these revenue flights won't really require any additional expenses aside from maybe a bit more fuel and fees for the gate space. The break even point to make these flights profitable should be pretty low.
  12. Based on the below quote from the article, it seems the TMUD credit is viewed as a solution to push a project over the line that otherwise would not have been financially viable.
  13. Rockbridge has reapplied for TMUD credits, claiming that the project "in jeopardy the tax credit". This could be true, or they could be playing the politics because, if the project isn't in jeopardy without the credits, why grant them the credits? I guess we will find out eventually... https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2022/11/02/tmud.html
  14. Enrollment is 2,316 according to this: https://nces.ed.gov/ccd/schoolsearch/school_detail.asp?Search=1&DistrictID=3904696&ID=390469602720 I believe it's the largest high school, by enrollment, in Central Ohio. Olentangy Orange is close though.
  15. I completely agree. The comparison is not really like for like. Comparing Grandview Yard to Bridge Park is a bit closer, but even those two are quite a bit different in terms of end goals, surrounding area, etc.
  16. I think it makes sense that we would hear about a lot of apartments going up first. We will need housing for the construction workers and contractors long before permanent Intel employees and their suppliers. Most construction workers will only be here for a portion of the total buildout and their employer might provide them with a housing stipend during that time which would just go toward the apartment. I could also see construction companies leasing blocks of apartments for their employees.
  17. This update is better than all your photo updates combined! Hahaha
  18. This along with the elevated park is one of the projects I’m most excited about right now. Can’t wait to see how it turns out!
  19. It could be a nice dog park for surrounding residential units, but that's not a big money maker. The only way I could think to monetize it would be to offer it as a "members only" facility and have surrounding buildings (Arena Crossing, Flats on Vine, Merchant Tower, and future developments) pay for access and then grant it to residents.
  20. How big of a tower are we talking here? 12 stories?
  21. Maybe the commission will say, "you know what, maybe we don't want those buildings demolished so go ahead and build the 17-story plan." One can only hope.
  22. Awesome news! I think we are going to see a lot more of these demo and rebuild projects on 5th. Now if only we get a streetcar or BRT route going down 5th all the way to High...
  23. Honestly, I'd rather one developer do something with the Telhio building and have someone else eventually develop the surface lot at the corner. If a developer has a smaller space to work with, they'll theoretically have more incentive to build higher. It also creates a greater architectural diversity. And on that note, this discussion should probably be moved out of this thread and over to a more relevant thread.
  24. Oh I definitely agree. It's more of a win-win situation in my opinion. But yea, I hope we do start seeing some fresh faces moving to the downtown area.
  25. I highly doubt anyone is going to turn this building into any kind of a restaurant. The drive thru area is too large and mostly unusable for a restaurant, unless you are Chick fil A. This would be a great spot for a residential tower. It's right around the corner from all the restaurants on Gay Street, and just a block away from the bars and breweries popping up like Pins and Jacki O's. You even have a self-storage facility directly behind this lot. To @amped91's comment about it being disappointing that the Scioto Peninsula is only poaching other downtown tenants so far, I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. As you can see with this situation, tenants vacating their current offices opens up the potential for office-to-residential conversions or even total redevelopments.
