  1. I think they did a good job architecturally, but it's ridiculous the commission won't allow the southern portion of the building to be taller. Regardless, 11 stories will still provide a good presence from the street level.
  2. Yea, there's still a ton happening downtown. And let's not forget, downtown has had to compete with the Short North (and VV, IV, and Campus) which is the most walkable and densely populated area in the city, if not the state. The Scioto Peninsula combined with East Franklinton is pretty much on par with Bridge Street, and it's really just getting started and is far from the only thing happening. Downtown just wrapped up a tower, has another one coming soon, has a 13-story tower under construction, a 15-story on the way, and much more. As the metro area continues to grow, I think it's a good thing to see multiple quality urban developments popping up outside of downtown as well as within downtown. Spread the wealth around!
  3. Has anyone been past the North Market recently? Are they still working on excavation?
  4. Oh I'm definitely not complaining about @CbusOrBust's construction updates! Just making a lighthearted joke.
  5. Given @CbusOrBust's camera quality, it looks more like a colorized WW2 battlefield photo.
  6. Yea, I was thinking like 5-6 stories. Still great to see a hotel finally going in though!
  7. Do we have any idea how tall this thing will be?
  8. I definitely agree, although it's important to be careful with how we invest. You don't want to over-commercialize a state park because you risk losing the authentic feeling of actually being in nature.
  9. A third lane is desperately needed. The drive from Columbus to Cleveland is so much smoother than Columbus to Cincinnati because of the third lane. The drive from Columbus to Cincinnati could probably be reduced by about 10-15 minutes if a third lane was added due to the amount of time you currently spend stuck between two semis driving side by side at about 60 mph.
  10. If the public could view the items, then it would just be a museum wouldn't it? A storage facility does not sound like something that would be open to the public.
  11. It's not like nothing over 10 stories is being built downtown. We have Hilton that just wrapped up and Merchant Tower coming up. There's the 13 story on Broad and the 15 story at High and Gay that should be starting soon. We have everything happening on the Scioto Peninsula. The old Greyhound site will presumably have some at least 15-stories. In addition to those, there have been about seven or eight buildings of at least 10 stories that have gone up in the last 5-7 years downtown.
  12. Agreed. More height would always be nice, but this far from a "wasted opportunity".
  13. Does Jobs Ohio have any ability to impact what CVG does, given that it's located in Kentucky?

  15. FB comments should only ever be read for comedic purposes. If you are attempting to use logical reasoning to understand their "arguments", you are doing it all wrong. Just read it, laugh, and move on.
  16. Proposals have been filed with the FAA for five crawler cranes reaching up to 500' tall. https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external/searchAction.jsp?action=displayOECase&oeCaseID=547640545&row=345 https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external/searchAction.jsp?action=displayOECase&oeCaseID=547640546&row=346 https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external/searchAction.jsp?action=displayOECase&oeCaseID=547640547&row=347 https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external/searchAction.jsp?action=displayOECase&oeCaseID=547640548&row=348 https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external/searchAction.jsp?action=displayOECase&oeCaseID=547640549&row=349
  17. At least the ground floor along Broad is somewhat attractive. And as bad as it is, I don’t think it will be worse than the Kaufman building on The Commons. The white portion isn’t bad but the rest is horrendous.
  18. The entire Keystone building, which stretches between Burr and Williams along Yard, has ground floor office space that could be easily transformed into restaurant or retail space. The new building at the northeast corner of Williams and Yard will have office space as well which could also be converted if they feel the area can support it. Also, I have to say that when it comes to comparing the architectural style of GY to Bridge Park, I much prefer GY.
  19. You mean like this suburban-style, car-centric area?
  20. Looks pretty cool! Now if only we could get that surface lot in the top right corner developed...
  21. Here's a non-exhaustive map of car washes in Brooklyn, one of the least car dependent areas in the country.
  22. Yep, but neither one of us said it would increase walkability. I don't think anyone here is under the impression that a Moo Moo Car Wash is going to completely the trajectory of any neighborhood. However, people do favor them over most other car washes and will often go out of their way to use one even when there are more convenient options. A mixed-use neighborhood will certainly have services such as this, unless cars simply don't exist. If anything, this car wash will drive the others in the area out of business which will allow that land to be redeveloped.
  23. I don't think anyone suggested this.
