Columbus: Franklin Park / Trolley District Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionIt seems there might be some apartments coming across the street from the Trolley Barn. This could be an interesting development. https://portal.columbus.gov/permits/ Project Description: Trolley District Apartments Proposed development of a new apartment building located at the southeast corner of the intersection of Kelton Ave and E. Oak St. with required utilities and stormwater management facilities.

Columbus: Random Development and News
cbussoccer replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionIf you live south of the 70 divide, you’ll understand that the people north of 70 are mostly oblivious to anything south of 70. It’s like a foreign land to them. I’ll tell people I live in Groveport and they’ll say “oh is that like close to Grove City or something?” Canal Winchester isn’t even on their radar (even though it should be, the downtown area is lovely), and I’ve heard many struggle to pronounce Pickerington correctly. So I say all that to say, the fact Rathmell was identified as being in the same general area of the metro area is enough to impress me.

New Albany: New Albany International Business Park / Silicon Heartland
cbussoccer replied to aderwent's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionNo, county boundaries do not change. There are cities that overlap counties. Pickerington is a good example of that.

Grove City: Developments and News
Groveport is the real Grovetucky.

Cleveland: Population Trends
Yes, obviously population trends will eventually change, but I have serious doubts about the data when it suggests that Austin, Nashville, Charlotte, Columbus, Orlando, etc. all suddenly began losing population. Sure, it could be true, but it certainly warrants some speculation.
-
Cleveland: Population Trends
Yea, the data doesn't seem very reliable. It suggests cities like Orlando, Austin, Nashville, and Charlotte experienced outflows significantly larger than Cleveland and many other cities which have been consistently stagnant or shrinking for a while now. That seems highly unlikely.

Grove City: Developments and News
Exactly. The more urban nodes we have spread throughout the metro area, ideally connected by reliable mass transit, the more realistic it becomes to live without a car or turn a two-car family into a one-car family.

Grove City: Developments and News
Some Columbus suburbs are really starting to bring the heat with more and more urban (or urban-lite) development. It's great to see!

New Albany: Ohio One (Intel Semiconductor Facility)
cbussoccer replied to cbussoccer's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionEven with the potential of more Japan-CMH business travel, I think it will be tough to swing a direct flight. That is an extremely long flight, so they'll need to be sure they'll have very strong load factors to make the numbers work. It's not out of the realm of possibility though. The retail companies in Columbus also do a lot of travel to Asia. They don't do much travel to Japan specifically, but a direct flight to Tokyo could be partially sustained by the retail companies as it could act as a connection to China, Vietnam, etc. where a lot of their vendors are located.

New Albany: Ohio One (Intel Semiconductor Facility)
cbussoccer replied to cbussoccer's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionHere is the list and where each company is Headquartered: * Amkor Technology - Tempe, AZ * ASM International - Geauga County, OH * Daewon Semiconductor Packaging Industrial Co. Ltd - Hanam, South Korea * Daifuku - Osaka, Japan * Disco Corporation - Tokyo, Japan * EBARA Corporation - Tokyo, Japan * Edwards Vacuum LLC - West Sussex, England * Fujimi Corporation - Tualatin, Oregon * Hitachi High-Technologies Corporation - Tokyo, Japan * Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc - Tokyo, Japan * JLL - Chicago, IL * KLA-Tencor Corporation - Milpitas, CA * Lam Research Corporation - Fremont, CA * Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company Inc - Tokyo, Japan * ModusLink Global Solutions Inc - Smyrna, TN * Murata Machinery Ltd - Kyoto, Japan * The PEER Group Inc - Kitchener, Ontario * SCREEN Semiconductor Solutions Co. Ltd - Kyoto, Japan * Shin Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd - Tokyo, Japan * Shinko Electric Industries Co. Ltd - Nagano, Japan * Siltronic AG - Munich, Germany * Tokyo Ohka Kogyo Co. Ltd - Kawasaki, Japan * Tosoh SMD, Inc - Grove City, OH * Tosoh Quartz Inc - Portland, OR * VWR - Radnor, PA * Veolia North America - Boston, MA * Nanium (acquired by Amkor) - Porto, Portugal (Tempe, AZ) Assuming many of these vendors set up shop relatively nearby, this should increase demand for flights to Japan. If I remember correctly, Japan was one of the most popular international destinations out of CMH before the pandemic and was one of the reasons we got a direct flight to SFO. I don't know that we would ever get to the point were a direct flight to Tokyo would be necessary, but this should help drive up demand for more flights to the West Coast.

Columbus: Near East Side / King-Lincoln / Olde Towne East Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionAlong Broad you could easily go 10-15 stories. There are already buildings of that size along Broad so it wouldn't be too out of place.

Groveport: Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to ColDayMan's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI don’t blame them at all for putting up that fence. The young couple that lives there have two dogs and I’m guessing they probably plan to have some kids fairly soon. I would not want my kids and dogs out in that yard without a fence knowing how busy College is and how fast people tend drive. The guy who lives there owns his own fencing company and put the whole thing up himself. He’s a really nice guy and is from the upper peninsula so he has quite an interesting accent. He also put the fence up for the young couple that bought the house next to them. It’s great to see so many young couples moving to Groveport. Off the top of my head, I can think of 15 couples around the age of 30 (many with young kids) who have moved to Groveport in the last few years, just in the area north of Main between Front and West streets.

cbussoccer replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionOne crane comes down (Gravity 2), another crane goes up (Parkside on Pearl). cbussoccer replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionYea that's how I read it. So my point was that just losing the Little Bar building isn't a significant historical loss.- Columbus: OSU / University Area Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionIt's definitely less of an architectural loss than the older buildings south of it would be. I'm excited to see renderings of the planned buildings! - Columbus: Short North Developments and News
