Columbus: OSU / University Area Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionYea I don't think I would get too worked up over it being torn down, but it's nice little quirky campus bar in an ever increasing "corporate" campus environment.

Columbus: OSU / University Area Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI'm fine with tearing down the church. It's not really an architectural masterpiece so it wouldn't be much of a loss, and it's good that the church will continue to exist in the new space. I'm not sure how I feel about tearing down Little Bar though. It's not a stylistically urban building, but it's quirky and provides some extra character to the area. With that being said, if we ever want to see the surface lot north of Little Bar developed, Little Bar's character (which is largely reliant on the north face of the building being visible) would lose it's effect on the area. With that being the case, maybe tearing it down to redevelop the entire lot isn't such a bad idea. It's definitely a tough call. I definitely like the height. It's nice to see developers continue to push higher than the conservative 6 stories, even though they continue to get push back.

Dublin: Bridge Park / Bridge Street District Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionIt happens regularly to me and I've heard the same thing from many others, so you are apparently in the very small minority. It doesn't scare me, but it's not a pleasant experience, especially when it's someone on drugs or with mental issues who is acting erratically. One homeless man did attempt to grab my wife's arm one evening but I was able to pull her to the other side of me quick enough to keep it from happening.

Dublin: Bridge Park / Bridge Street District Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionIt's not the mere presence of homeless people that makes other people feel uncomfortable in the SN. It's how aggressive the homeless people in the SN are toward people in the SN. It's a real problem.

Ohio: General Business & Economic News
This area makes the most sense to me, although I would push the southern further north past downtown Dayton. If you stay north of Dayton, you'll likely find cheaper land, be closer to the Marysville plant, and be closer to I-70.

Hints emerge that new $4.4B Honda battery factory will be built in Ohio https://www.daytondailynews.com/local/hints-emerge-that-new-honda-battery-factory-will-be-built-in-ohio/KNHVWOJ26RBM7HYEPB6LIC64ME/?outputType=amp I wonder where this might end up being built. One would think they probably want locate relatively close the Marysville plant...

I feel like this building, or at least part of the building, could be turned into a pretty cool hotel.

Columbus: Downtown: Hilton Columbus Downtown Tower II
Wow, LC must have blown some serious cash by having the tower crane for their 8-story Riversouth building sit there for about four years.
-
Columbus: Downtown: Hilton Columbus Downtown Tower II
My guess is renting a helicopter for a couple hours is cheaper than continuing to rent the tower crane for X number of weeks for it to sit mostly unused.

cbussoccer replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionBridge Park is far more urban in terms of the layout and mix of uses than the Riversouth District, which just so happens to be the thread we are currently discussing the Bridge Park development in, lol.

Columbus: Near East Side / King-Lincoln / Olde Towne East Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionSeems kinda...sunny. I'm assuming there are limitations on planting trees given that they didn't plant a single tree there. Perhaps they engineered it differently than the cap in Dallas, given that Dallas planted numerous trees on theirs.

New Albany: Ohio One (Intel Semiconductor Facility)
cbussoccer replied to cbussoccer's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI have to take 161 east from 270 to get to work, so as excited as I am for this boom to happen, I'm really not looking forward to a massive increase in traffic. I'm such a NIMBY, lol.

New Albany: Ohio One (Intel Semiconductor Facility)
cbussoccer replied to cbussoccer's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionOk, I'm not going to continue debating this. I think we've collectively laid out the situation as it relates to the CHIPS Act and effect on the Intel development, so let's move on. I didn't want to see a giant political argument break out and shut down thread which is why I jumped in, and I think we've avoided that so that's all that matters.

New Albany: Ohio One (Intel Semiconductor Facility)
cbussoccer replied to cbussoccer's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWho cares who started it? Just stop it. It's annoying. See, this is just reductionist child-like nonsense that leads to jabs from the other side. The politicians are politicking, just like they always do. Your side does it. @John7165's side does. Everyone's side does. That's how the legislative process currently works here. The legislatures are working to pass/stop legislation based on what their constituents will generally support. It's not one group being mad at the other, or anyone trying "own" anyone. It's literally just politicians doing their job.

New Albany: Ohio One (Intel Semiconductor Facility)
cbussoccer replied to cbussoccer's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & Construction"the GOP was willing to own the libs rather than passing important legislation" "Now House GOP is whipping against just to own the libs. This is not a serious governing party. " "Chew on that as long as you have to when the GOP pretends to care about veterans. " "One political party has decided to play politics instead of supporting legislation" It's statements like these that are completely unnecessary, yet you make them to rile up the other side in an attempt to score pointless rhetorical internet points. Then, people like @John7165 take the bait and make their own unnecessary quips because they feel the need to defend their side, and we end up with a pointless political bickering session that eventually results in a locked thread.
