Columbus: Downtown: Hilton Columbus Downtown Tower II
The surface lot on Goodale is a much better location, at least from an urban planning perspective.

Columbus: Downtown: RiverSouth Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionIt’s kind of odd how all of the momentum that was building in this area seemingly came to a screeching halt.

Columbus: Downtown: Arena District Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI would imagine all those surface lots and one story buildings will be redeveloped over the next decade or so. And if they can move that electric substation things will really take off.

I would imagine that crane won't be around too much longer.

Columbus Crew Discussion
HUGE signing by the Crew. Cucho Hernandez, a 23 year old winger/forward, scored 5 goals in the Premier League last season for Watford where he played mostly as a winger. Watford were relegated at the end of the season which likely prompted Cucho to search for different playing options outside of Watford. Cucho could have easily found a landing spot at another Premier League club going into this next season, or a club at one of the other big leagues in Europe, but he chose to come to Columbus. The pay will likely be better than what he could have got from a team that would offer him substantial playing time in a top European, but the brand new training and gameday facilities here in Columbus are also as good or better than what he would have found with those teams as well.

New Albany: Ohio One (Intel Semiconductor Facility)
cbussoccer replied to cbussoccer's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI was talking about the overall area. The Polaris area has been adding some mixed-use development and is continuing to grow at a pretty good rate, unlike Tuttle which has pretty much been completely stagnant for the past decade. And Polaris has done all of that with Easton right down the road. They've even converted portions of the mall area to be more of an outdoor shopping center like Easton, albeit on a much smaller scale.

New Albany: Ohio One (Intel Semiconductor Facility)
cbussoccer replied to cbussoccer's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionPolaris isn’t too far from Easton, and is slowly becoming more like Easton. They don’t seem to be cannibalizing each other. But yea, hopefully they can do something a bit different than Easton to offer a different experience.

Columbus: Children's Hospital Projects
cbussoccer replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI just saw this while driving through downtown on 670/70. I came from Grandivew and took 670E and then took 71S to 70E. During that route, I think I counted 10 different tower cranes in various parts of the city. I could see both of these from 670 which was pretty cool.

I've always liked Huntington Tower and Riffe Tower. They are both very unique and easily distinguish Columbus from any other city.

Columbus: Random Development and News
cbussoccer replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionGreat work! I think we can exclude single family homes, but this is impressive. I've already found like 10 that you missed as well. Just imagine what this shot will look like in another ten years.

Columbus: Random Development and News
cbussoccer replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionHow many buildings can you count that were built in the last 10 years? I think it's at least 50.

The Hilton Tower is a great addition to skyline when viewed from the Short North, in my professional opinion.

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
CMH has 4 hotels onsite with another ~12 hotels at the entrance to the airport area. I have no idea what the occupancy rate is for the rooms, but they always seem full when I drive by and 3 or 4 of them are new within the last 5 or so years. If CMH can support that many hotels (granted not all rooms are specifically related to airport travelers), it seems like CLE could still support one.

Springfield: Development and News
Interesting project. This development will only be 40 minutes from downtown Columbus, just 5 minutes further than the travel time to downtown Dayton. That's a very easy drive to both downtown areas and gives you reasonably quick access to a ton of entertainment options and jobs (non-remote obviously).

Columbus: Polaris Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI just came across this Final Site Compliance Plan that was filed with the city today. https://portal.columbus.gov/permits/ Project Description: The Galaxy at Polaris The construction of one (1) mixed-use building, one (1) residential building, and one (1) 6-story garage with associated stormwater management facilities and required utilities. A six story parking garage is pretty large, so I'm wondering how big the mixed-use and residential buildings might end up being. I think the garage at The Pointe is only 4 stories.

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
Having a rental car facility attached to the terminal is such a great feature, especially for people traveling for business. It always sucks when you finally land, get off the plane, get your bags (if you checked), and then have to wait at a bus stop for 5 minutes and then take a 10 minute bus ride in a cramped rental car shuttle bus. I know it doesn't really add a ton of travel time, but it's such an annoyance. I always liked the fact that our former rental car facility here at CMH was directly attached to the terminal, and I'm even happier that the new rental car facility will be directly attached to the new terminal once it is built.

Columbus: Downtown: Merchant Building
They are probably just talking about the downtown area, but you are right the new hospital tower will be about 410' tall.
