Columbus: Downtown: Merchant Building
You are disappointed that we have a 352' tower about to start construction across the street from a 362' tower that is nearly topped out? I'm not sure why.

Columbus: Downtown: Merchant Building
I think this is very possible. We have this, WMC Tower, and the tower on the peninsula that we already know about. Harmony tower is also a potential one to add to the mix, although I'm not overly confident on that one. But that's just what we know about now. I think we'll see at least one more tower on the peninsula that, at the very least, comes close to 300 feet. We have the Greyhound station that could potentially result in a sizeable tower. We also know that the convention center will still need another large hotel, even after the Hilton Tower opens. I think there's a very good chance that hotel will end up being in the 300'+ range. On top of all of that, there will most likely be other projects being announced that aren't even on our radar. So it's not crazy to think that we could have seven to eight 300'+ towers pop up in the next decade.

I believe you are correct! It will be interesting if they are asked about the TMUD credits and what impact that might have on them getting started.

Columbus: OSU Medical Center Expansion
cbussoccer replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionEhh, I'm not too worried about that. I think the new tower will be better looking. Also, you'll still be able to see the current tower as you travel up and down 315 until you are due west from the complex.

Columbus: OSU Medical Center Expansion
cbussoccer replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThe construction update I posted above notes that the north and south elevator have surpassed 1,000 feet above sea level. Based on the FAA apps, which list the site's elevation to be about 725' above sea level, this would mean the elevator cores have reached about 275'. They still have about 125'-130' before they reach their final height.

Columbus: OSU Medical Center Expansion
cbussoccer replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionHere's a construction update from the project's webpage: https://buildingthefuture.osu.edu/news/2021/12/07/slideshow-inpatient-hospital It has the same aerial pics that were already posted here, but they seem to be a bit higher res. I love this shot with downtown in the background. You can see Hilton Tower, the elevator core at Thurber Village, the peninsula buildings, and Gravity 2.0.

Breeze adding another destination from Columbus. They will add a weekly flight to West Palm Beach starting in February. https://thepointsguy.com/news/breeze-islip-long-island-west-palm-beach-new-routes/ CMH currently enjoys the most destinations of any "non-focus" city. Once the West Palm Beach route starts, we will have 6 routes on Breeze.

Columbus: Downtown: Hilton Columbus Downtown Tower II
Based on the renderings, the crown is fairly tall. Looks to be equivalent to about two floors.

cbussoccer replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionAlthough one tower crane was removed, two more will be going up soon. I just saw OEAAA filings today for a 254' tower crane, a 182' tower crane, and a 110' building. https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external/searchAction.jsp?action=displayOECase&oeCaseID=502119305&row=394 https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external/searchAction.jsp?action=displayOECase&oeCaseID=502145793&row=396 https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external/searchAction.jsp?action=displayOECase&oeCaseID=502119759&row=395

Columbus: Scioto Peninsula Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to StuFoote's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionIt very well could be, but it would also be kind of stupid to say otherwise before it's determined who will get the credits. I read this as them campaigning for the credits, which makes sense from a financial standpoint.

Columbus: Scioto Peninsula Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to StuFoote's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionMy guess is not very dependent. This whole project was organized and envisioned before TMUD was a thing, and phase one was started before TMUD was a thing.

Columbus: Scioto Peninsula Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to StuFoote's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionOur 3 tall residential towers around downtown average about 12 feet per floor. If we assume this tower will be similar, the tower will be about 360 feet tall, not including the parking levels. If we conservatively estimate the parking levels to be 10 feet each, that will get us to 400 feet.

Columbus: Scioto Peninsula Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to StuFoote's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionQuoting my own post from two years ago so we can see where we will be with the first two phases compared to what the finished project is supposed to be. Office space: 478,000 sq ft (24% complete) Residential: 730 units (41% complete) Hotel: 180 keys (75% complete) Parking: ~2,000 spaces Retail: 54,000 sq ft (27% complete) Acres: 11 acres (42% complete) Some of the phase one figures have changed since the table above was published, so this is just a rough estimate.

Columbus: Scioto Peninsula Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to StuFoote's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionSo it will actually be a 34-story tower, in addition to a 11-story tower, if I'm reading this and counting the floors on the rendering correctly.

Columbus: Scioto Peninsula Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to StuFoote's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionAwesome! Great news that they are following through with giving us some height and they are planning to start next year. That means we should expect to have three towers in the 350-400' range under construction by the end of next year. In addition to those, we should have about three more in the ~15 story range under construction. It looks like Columbus will continue to be littered with tower cranes all around the urban core!
