  1. Here's another example of the opening framing the skyline beautifully. Too bad those power lines are in the way...
  2. A pedestrian bridge would be awesome. Unfortunately, the RR bridge makes things very inconvenient. Below are three different options for a pedestrian bridge, in my opinion. The red is probably the best option in terms of how things are currently built out. The purple could be a solid option depending on how the vacant lots behind Vets Memorial get developed. The yellow is probably the worst option in terms of accessibility from the Scioto Peninsula/Franklinton Developments, but would likely be the cheapest option due to it likely being a shorter bridge.
  3. Here's a few I grabbed from the team's Twitter account. It also looks like they've added an LDC logo above the Nordecke. I don't think that was there the last time I was in the stadium a few weeks ago.
  4. This was posted by one of the national soccer writers yesterday during the team's training. I will never not love the way the opening in the SE corner perfectly frames the center of the Columbus skyline from this vantage point. It's picturesque.
  5. The tower is looking great! And that's a great view of it. Careful driving @WagChase!!
  6. Hopefully you can get it figured out because we'd all love to see it.
  7. I'm seeing the same issue. Maybe upload the video to imgur and convert it to a gif and then post the link here.
  8. Shot of the tower posted by one of the national soccer reporters in town for the US-Costa Rica game tomorrow night. One day soon, the Hilton Tower might not even be visible from this vantage point because of Market Tower.
  9. You definitely don't want your stops too far apart, but you also don't want stops that don't serve much of a purpose. You have to have the surrounding the population and job numbers for a stop to make sense. There are certainly stretches, such as the stretch between Riverside Hospital and Henderson, where a stop would unnecessarily increase the route time. Also, there are certain stretches where a stop probably isn't necessary now, but where a stop could be added in the future if development occurs. There's certainly a risk of not having enough stations, as you mentioned. But, there is also a risk of having too many stations. Unnecessary stations reduce the cost effectiveness and efficiency of the overall system. If it takes you too long to get where you need to go, you'll opt to use a car instead. And if enough people do that, the politicians take away the funding. You gotta hit the sweet spot.
  10. Yep, they've been staging them there for a while now. The scope of this project is insane.
  11. As if the three tower cranes on the site weren't enough, a large crawler crane is now being used as well.
  12. I checked the construction cam today, and it seems like the tower is now growing by about a floor each week. If this progress holds, the tower should top out in about a month and a half.
  13. The profit margin for an "affordable" unit is lower than the profit margin for a market-rate unit. Each additional "affordable" unit results in a further erosion of the overall profit margin. To do their best to offset this reduction in profit margin, they would likely look at how construction costs could be reduced to allow them to still hit their initial profit goals. The insistence on the inclusion of affordable units is good in theory, but it will inevitably hold some projects from their full potential in terms height, quality of construction, design, etc. That's not to say diversification of price points shouldn't be encouraged, it's just acknowledgement of the effects it has.
  14. I haven't seen one, but I could have missed it. Sometimes an application doesn't pop up until right before the crane goes up.
  15. Weren't they limited on what they could build given that they were building on a landfill?
  16. Regarding the surface lots south of Lane, I could potentially see the university building a hotel to supplement the Blackwell. It's a great location given it is an easy walk to The Shoe, The Schott, and all of the dorms lining Lane. It would be a great asset for the University.
  17. It might not take a genus, but it most definitely takes a phylum and maybe even a species!
  18. Yea, that's what I would expect on the surface lots next to St. John. Which is fine, I'm not hoping for anything amazing over there. The north side of Lane is where I'm hoping for some bold mixed-use development.
  19. They certainly won't. The hope would be for a developer to purchase the entire parcel. The chances of that happening are likely very low though.
  20. The surface lots around Riverwatch Tower could probably fit a sizeable parking garage along with an additional tower or two. And the surface lots on the other side of Lane in front of St. John's and the Field House have a ton of potential. I know the plan is (sadly) to demolish those buildings, so I will be curious to see what the university ends up building there. There's just so much untapped potential along Lane. Hopefully that potential will soon be realized.
  21. It's a shame the previous plans for the 10-story tower redevelopment of this site got scrapped. It was a good looking proposal. Regardless, this one looks good too. It actually activates the street level area which is something the current tower does not do at all. I'll think we'll see a lot of redevelopment along Lane in the coming years. Much of the north side of Lane is filled with non-historical buildings that are ripe for redevelopment. It could very well turn into a nice secondary commercial strip to compliment High Street.
  22. Let's be a bit realistic here. They had a crane in the sky and construction was well underway for a 7-story residential building. Then, Covid happened, the government forced brick & mortar retail to shut down for numerous, and then made it very difficult for those same retailers to operate even after they allowed these retailers to operate once again. Easton's entire business was largely wiped out for the better part of a year. I get it, one 7-story building in the past couple decades is not good enough, but they were literally in the process of doing what you are chastising them for not doing when Covid happened. Had Covid not happened, there would be a 7-story building standing there and who knows what else already under construction.
  23. That is one hideous building. Some of the new branches aren't too bad, but this one is horrible.
  24. The Buckeyes sure could use Harrison Afful's tackling ability this year.
