Columbus: OSU Medical Center Expansion
cbussoccer replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI'm much too busy browsing recent Google Streetview updates. I can't possibly fit Wikipedia updates into my very full schedule.

Columbus: OSU Medical Center Expansion
cbussoccer replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionOk, which one of you is responsible for updating the tower's height on the Columbus tallest buildings wikipedia page? And which one of you wants to update the "Announced, approved and current proposals" section. Cleveland has buildings as short as 11 and 12 stories on their list, so I think we could add a good number of buildings. The 15-story Edwards tower on High, the 15-story tower on Broad in Franklinton, Gravity 2, Arlington Gateway, the Scioto Peninsula 11-story apartment tower, the 13-story Edwards tower on Broad (that is currently just a hole in the ground), and the 12-story Children's Hospital tower all come to mind as potential additions.

cbussoccer replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionMarket Tower is definitely a candidate. I believe they just confirmed a couple weeks ago that they are applying for the credit. The 15-story Edwards tower on High next to Madison's/White-Haines might also be a candidate but I'm not sure about the total square footage. I guess Harmony Tower could be a candidate as well, but we haven't heard from that project for a while.

Electric Scooter Sharing
The scooters also provide for an inconspicuous mode of transportation. There are tons of people riding those scooters up and down High Street and various other parts of the city. It's very easy to blend in with the crowd and still get away without being overly noticeable or identifiable. If you are driving a car, you are easily identifiable and your mobility is very limited in the SN area. If you are on a bike, you still have good mobility but your bike will be identifiable and just the fact that you are on a bike (at night) will be significant differentiating factor. I'm not going to argue for or against the scooter situation because, quite frankly, I don't care. I'm hardly ever in the SN and I never use the scooters. But, I can certainly see the logic behind removing them as part of a (hopefully) larger overall effort to reduce crime in the area.

Electric Scooter Sharing
Violent crime is way up in the city. It's already the second most violent year on record in terms of homicides, and we still have 3 months to go. We are way ahead of last year's pace, which is currently the most violent year on record. Now, that's for the entire city, but it certainly seems to be way up along High Street as well. There have been a few nights recently where multiple people were shot in the same night.

This view will be even better if/when the 166' tower gets built at Broad and Gift Street. Hopefully we get an update on it soon.

John Glenn Columbus International Airport
Based on the current CMH flight schedule available on their website, Spirit will be bringing back their 4x weekly seasonal flight to New Orleans on October 7th. This flight will be in addition to the 2x weekly flight Breeze is currently operating between the cities. Spirit will also be bringing back their 1-2x daily flight to Ft. Myers on November 17th. It also appears Southwest is bringing back their daily service to Washington DC on November 7th. https://flycolumbus.com/storage/production/20210902170429-sample-flight-schedule-from-columbus-2021.pdf

Columbus: Downtown: Hilton Columbus Downtown Tower II
The tower crane generally ends up being about 20-30' taller than the actual building. I'd say, conservatively, it will probably climb to the bottom of the second crane section from the top.

Kaufman frames out their buildings so fast. Both 250 High and 80 on the Commons flew up as well.

So apparently this CMH-AUS route starting in November will just be seasonal during the holiday season. However, starting on March 10th SW will begin a daily service between the two cities. https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2021/09/16/cmh-adds-nonstop-flight-austin.html?ana=TRUEANTHEMFB_CO&csrc=6398&utm_campaign=trueAnthem%3A New Content (Feed)&utm_medium=trueAnthem&utm_source=facebook&fbclid=IwAR1zDUc7Cjyft7jrRjXItaHrJZrx-BqfOCW6LfWcrQ_IfIZK13bRng-SA9g

I believe the crane has reached its final height.

One more section to go now. The tower will probably rise to just under where the boom currently is in this picture.

Looking good. And it still has 100’ to go!

The crane is jumping and they've adjusted the camera so we can continue to see the building as it grows.

cbussoccer replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionConstruction update from OSU: https://buildingthefuture.osu.edu/news/2021/09/13/slideshow-inpatient-hospital Once again they are referring to the tower eventually being 410' tall, which is about 40-50 feet taller than what I thought it was going to be. Wikipedia says the tower will be 375' feet, but I don't know what that's based on. If it truly does reach 410' feet, it will become the 10th tallest building in the city and will become the city's 11th tower to surpass the 400' mark. This would mean that, once the SHW tower is complete in Cleveland, Columbus and Cleveland will both have eleven 400'+ towers and Cincinnati will have seven.

It will be 12.

@ImwalleWe need a construction update pic for Gravity 2.0! I'm guessing they are close to topping out.
-
Columbus: Downtown: Hilton Columbus Downtown Tower II
Thanks! So it looks like we'll get a 100' jump, meaning the tower will grow by about 100' still.

How tall is each section? 20 feet?

Lancaster: Developments and News
Some people want to live in a house that sits on more than one acre, and they will pay extra for it. This is catering to those people. Not everything has to be a dense development to maximize population density, especially not in a rural area outside of Lancaster.
-
Lancaster: Developments and News
It's located outside of Lancaster in rural Fairfield County. These lot sizes are completely in line with the surrounding area. I don't see the need to worry too much about rural development in a rural area.
-
Lancaster: Developments and News
None of the three are. They are all in the "Greater Lancaster Metro Area", aka just outside of the Lancaster city limits.
