Columbus: Scioto Peninsula Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to StuFoote's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionAnd don’t forget Market Tower coming next year. But what we are seeing start to happening is what I’ve been talking about for a while. As much as I would love them, We don’t need the 400’+ towers. We need the 12-20 story towers. We need towers in the 180-250’ range. Those will help make our skyline more dense and seamless. Our skyline competes with almost any other metro area in our peer group when you look at the 15 tallest buildings. Compare is to Cincinnati for example. Their 15th tallest building is about 315’ tall. Ours is about the same, although after the Hilton2 and Wexner2 are finished our 15th tallest will be about 350’. Their 10th tallest is 354’. Ours is 408’. Their fifth tallest is 423’. Ours is 504’. It’s not the tall buildings that make the difference between the two cities, it’s the mid-sized towers.

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
They both seem pretty childlike to me. But then again, a lot of sports names are fairly childlike, so I don't really mind the name. I feel they could have done much better with the logo though. Two flying Gs carrying a baseball? What the heck is that? And the new C is inferior to the old block C. They could have just kept that old C. Working off of the guardian statues makes sense. It's a local unique feature and it's next to the ball park. But if you are going to work off of that, at least make something epic by building off of the intimidating statues. Don't drop cartoonish flying Gs carrying a baseball on us.

Central Ohio Metro Parks / Columbus Recreation & Parks
Great point. I don't want to really get into politics here, but I will say that I tend to be more hesitant than most to support increases in government spending. With that said, I never hesitate to support spending when it comes parkland and greenspace.

I would definitely recommend going out to Chestnut Ridge and Slate Run. The Chestnut Ridge trail actually has quite a bit of elevation changes, and has an area with a nice view of downtown on a clear day. Slate Run is a lot more than just the farm. They have quite a few nice trails through the woods. You could actually hit both of those on the same and then make a stop in downtown Canal Winchester for dinner on your way home. It's been a long time since I've been to Pickerington Ponds, but I've heard the wildlife viewing is pretty good there. I believe there's a bald eagle nest over there, so it's a popular stop for the bird watchers.

Wow, I love those plans. A tower at that location would be incredible. The views would be amazing and unique. And I love the Scioto Hub idea. This would further cement the river as a focal point of the city, rather than a peripheral item.

FC Cincinnati Discussion
He made a few massive saves at the end that saved your butts. I wouldn't save he completely redeemed himself for some of his recent performances, but he definitely made some amends. Nope, not yet. Two draws and three losses. Yea, the past month has probably been your best stretch since joining the league. You've earned points in five of the last six games. I know back to back blown leads to Columbus and MTL really sucked, but those are teams that you wouldn't have even competed with in prior seasons.

Columbus: Downtown Developments and News
Main Street and 4th Street both have a ton of potential. They have a good core of attractive old buildings to develop around. We've already seen The Harlow pop up, and I think we'll continue to see more infill in the area. Depending on what happens with this Greyhound site, we could really see things get kicked off on Rich Street as well. One big thing holding this area back, in my opinion, is the large one way streets with fast moving vehicles. It's just not a very comfortable area to walk around because of that. It would be amazing if we could turn all three of those main roads into two way streets. I think it would be a game changer for the area.

Columbus: OSU Medical Center Expansion
cbussoccer replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThis construction update article from a few weeks ago states that the tallest elevator core will rise to 410 feet. I'm not sure if that means from the ground floor or from the base, given that there are one or two levels below ground. https://buildingthefuture.osu.edu/news/2021/07/07/slideshow-inpatient-hospital

Columbus: Downtown: Hilton Columbus Downtown Tower II
I'm pretty sure NRI owns about 80% of that vacant lot, and the city owns the remaining 20% closest to the Police HQ. I've been hoping NRI would build some type of hotel right there and then the city could put a little pocket park on the corner, but I doubt that will ever happen. It would be a nice spot for a hotel though. It seems isolated in the middle of a bunch of parking garages, but it's actually just a couple blocks from Nationwide Arena and the rest of the AD. It's also an easy walk to the Scioto Mile and the Palace Theater.

I wonder if this 15-story tower might come back to life once the Greyhound station moves. I doubt it, but one can hope.

Based on the above quote, this development better have some good height. I don't expect anything super tall due to the large size of the lot, but I could easily see two 15-20 story towers going here. Being located directly above a BRT terminal would be a huge draw for businesses and residents alike. It would also be a good spot for some hotel space. It would likely be linked to the airport and the proposed BRT line could easily get visitors over to OSU.

Columbus: Downtown: The Madison / 100 North High
According to Columbus Underground, it's actually going to be a 15-story building. The renderings they have are different (i.e. taller) than what The Dispatch had. https://www.columbusunderground.com/15-story-building-proposed-for-downtown-bw1/

Columbus: Downtown: Discovery District / Warehouse District / CSCC / CCAD Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionHas anyone seen much progress on either of these projects? I haven't driven by either one in a while. I'm guessing they should each add another tower crane to our sky which would be oh so exciting.

Columbus: Downtown: The Madison / 100 North High
That's odd. I can only count 12 floors in the renderings.

Columbus: Downtown: The Madison / 100 North High
I think the height is very appropriate for this block. Not everything needs to be 30+ stories. Now hopefully we can still get Harmony Tower built a block up High Street....
