It looks like about half of the seats on the east side of the stadium have now been installed.

Awesome! Do we know what the building will be used for? I'm assuming residential, but I can't remember if we've seen the specific plans yet. Now, can we please start knocking out some more of the surface lots in this area of downtown. There is a solid of stock of pretty cool older commercial and industrial buildings surrounded by a sea of surface lots. Those buildings provide a nice a base for us to start working off of. The neighborhood launch area has been a good start, but we need like 10 times more of it.

Whitehall: Developments and News
Way too much space dedicated for surface lot parking, but at least they hid it in the middle and lined the streets with the buildings. Not half bad for the location.

I just drove through this/by this on Saturday. It's pretty crazy how much work is going on. The amount of engineering is insane.

Columbus: Scioto Peninsula Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to StuFoote's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI stumbled across this picture on Flickr. It was taken by a train enthusiast, but it gives a unique angle which gives a good sense of the scale of the buildings. The picture is a month old, but the office building was already topped out and the elevator cores for the apartment building look to be topped out as well.

You can see the tower beginning to rise in this view from the Crew's OHPC construction cam which finally updated its HD panorama shot for the first time in nearly two months. https://www.columbuscrewsc.com/ohpc/construction-cam

Columbus: Downtown: Franklin County Government Center Projects
After reading the letters from the Board of Commissioners and Pizzuti, it sounds like they are already pretty strapped for parking, and the situation will continue to get worse as the county population continues to grow and various county departments are relocated to the FCCC. With that being the case, I think we can be fairly confident that a parking structure will be built on this lot and the pre-existing surface lot next door in the near future.

Columbus: Franklinton Developments and News
That project was ridiculous. What made it even crazier was how fast the larger Kaufman projects went up nearby. May 2014, both 250 High and LC are starting site prep/foundation work: June 2014, 250 High is working on their 3rd floor, LC has done nothing more than move some machinery around: August 2015, 250 is completely done, LC has installed a tower crane and poured a little bit of concrete: August 2017, LC has finally topped out and Kaufman's second project, 80 on the Commons, is close to being topped out: October 2018, 80 on the Commons is done while LC is mostly done except for it's courtyard area which is supposed to contain a pool: November 2019, the pool/courtyard still isn't finished, and for some reason the railing area has been completely redone: November 2020, the pool/courtyard is finally done...I think, 6 years after the project first broke ground: Although, to their credit, the second LC building only took five years to complete.... August 2015, demolition is done and site prep has started: November 2020, finally done....I think: Let's hope Gravity 2.0 does follow this same trajectory.

Oh gotcha. My point was "the drawing" mentioned in the article was that slide from their presentation. No renderings have been released.

Columbus: Downtown: Lower.com Field / Astor Park
Yes it does. It's a future phase, so it's obviously subject to change, but the 20 story tower is listed on the map.

I believe this is what they are referring to. It was part of their presentation to the commission last month. https://columbusohdev.app.box.com/s/15y2rtkb5g87b87b1hywiozea73uy3p7/file/775326222380

cbussoccer replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionSome form of residential conversion would be great. I wonder if they could somehow redo some of the facade to be able to incorporate balconies for potential residential units. Balconies are pretty vital for urban living and I feel like residential units would be a tough sell here without them. If they can’t make balconies happen, perhaps hotel use would be the better option.

Yep, the launch area will be under the bridge.

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
Alright, this conversation is getting ridiculous and redundant. Newark is NEVER going to be it's own MSA. The name of the Columbus MSA is not going to get changed to include Newark, no matter how excited we all are that it's being revitalized. People around ere can "acknowledge the positive population growth" (whatever that means), without making unqualified changes to MSA designations or names. Newark is growing. That's awesome. So is practically every other part of Central Ohio. It's all exciting. Now let's put this conversation to bed.

Columbus: Downtown: Lower.com Field / Astor Park
The team released a new rendering of what is now being called the "Astor Park" neighborhood. With a name derived from the birthplace of American soccer, Astor Park pays homage to the location where the game was officially made a national sport. Founded in New York City in what was the time’s most noteworthy hotel – Astor House – where, in April 1913, Thomas Cahill founded the United States Football Association, which later became the United States Soccer Federation. Pizzuti, Haslam Sports Group, and their development team have released new contextual renderings of the neighborhood, which highlights the stadium; office and residential components; a public parking garage; and the riverfront park. Scheduled to open in July 2021, the stadium is slated to host soccer, entertainment, and corporate events year-round. The second phase of construction within the neighborhood will focus on the residential component and is expected to break ground in Q4 2021 with an estimate completion date of Q2 2023. https://www.columbuscrewsc.com/post/2021/03/16/pizzuti-companies-and-haslam-sports-group-announce-name-neighborhood-and-mixed-use?utm_campaign=Astor Park&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_content=Astor Park Release Twitter Here's a few more renderings of the neighborhood:

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
The sentence in bold is the reason why Newark will continue to be part of the Columbus MSA rather than becoming it's own MSA. The level of commuting from Licking County (and Newark itself) to Franklin County is way too high.

Columbus: Italian Village: Jeffrey Park Development
cbussoccer replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionSo now that the developer reduced some of the parking and slightly changed the footprint while still maintaining the same overall density, we need to all be upset and come up with a plan on how to fix the problem of escalating house costs, lack of transit options, and availability of amenities in certain neighborhoods? You really just need to relax.

Newark is never going be it's own MSA. Do about 5 minutes of research on MSAs and you'll realize it's just not going to happen. I love the Newark pride around here, but let's come back down to earth. It's just way too connected to Columbus from an economic standpoint, and that connection gets stronger every year.
