  2. I don't think that quote really give us any indication one way or the other. I doubt we will get a "significant tower" (i.e. 30+ stories) but I don't think it's out of the question for us to end up with at least one ~20 story building. Even something in the 15-20 story range would have quite the impact. One component that could certainly drive up the height would be hotel use. I'm surprised we haven't heard anything about them trying to incorporate some hotel use given the centralized location of the lots and the need for hotel rooms in the downtown vicinity. Getting a someone like Marriott or Hilton to sign on using one of their boutique brands could easily give us a 10-story bump in terms of height.
  3. It looks like the old run-down Eastland Golf and Family Fun Center is going to be redeveloped into some type of extended stay/apartment development. I believe the company behind this development is also currently building a 240 unit apartment complex in Reynoldsburg. It also appears that an Aldi grocery store will be built as part of this development. The below application was recently filed for the same parcel.
  4. The birds need somewhere to sit.
  5. In today's Dispatch is the below rendering for this building.
  6. Haha no worries. I suppose they could be doing some utility work there right now. I never drive past this corner so I didn't even know anything was going on here. I never get further west than the Chick-fil-a. It does seem kind of odd that they are building a 7-story hotel way over there though. You would think they would want it within walking distance of the mall.
  7. If there's something under construction, it's probably the hotel. The CBF article listed hotels currently under construction.
  8. There's a CBF article today about all of the hotels currently under construction in the Columbus area. One of the hotels listed is a 240 room Hilton Garden Inn & Homewood Suites at Easton. I don't recall hearing anything about that being built at Easton and the article I can find relating to it is this article from PACE Equity. Including in the article is the below rendering of a 7-story hotel, but nowhere in the article is the location of the hotel mentioned. Does anyone know where it's being built at Easton?
  9. Congrats Cleveland friends! This is great news and super exciting. I can't wait to see some renderings.
  10. An engineering application has been filed today for this building. Hopefully this means we will get some official news fairly soon.
  11. According to the Arlington Gateway project page on M+A Architecture's website, it's estimated completion is 2022. http://www.ma-architects.com/portfolio/arlington-gateway According to the LoopNet posting for the project, it appears they are planning to be finished by 2021. The posting was last updated on 12/12/19. There is a PDF available on the posting which is dated 8/23/19. In the posting, the below page is included which lists occupancy beginning in April 2021.
  12. Don’t forget the 8-story hotel under construction just to the left of this picture and the potential 8-story office building next to it. The drive down 670 sure has changed over the last decade.
  13. A lot of work is currently being done on the foundation of the stadium. To the right of the screenshot you can see some of the below ground foundation work.
  14. Probably because they only built it half as tall as they should have.
  15. Agreed, but I’ll gladly accept additional service to Seattle. Even if it’s just a seasonal addition. Have we had direct service to San Jose before. I don’t remember ever having it.
  16. Alaska Air to add 2nd, seasonal flight from Columbus to Seattle The seasonal flight will operate from June 18 through Aug. 17, complementing Alaska’s year-round, daily nonstop service from John Glenn Columbus International Airport to Seattle that began last March. https://www.thisweeknews.com/business/20191231/alaska-air-to-add-2nd-seasonal-flight-from-columbus-to-seattle
  17. Lots of construction activity on a crisp cool December morning.
  18. According to @DevolsDance on the previous page, it should top out at 342'. That height is "from ground to crown", so it will probably be more like 325' due to the fact that it's base will be lower than High Street.
  19. Submitted on 11/22. We are getting closer.
  20. Addition Proposed for Downtown Warehouse Building A plan to breathe new life into a mostly-vacant warehouse building on the northern edge of downtown was presented to the Downtown Commission earlier today. The four- and six-story building, which sits at 260 E. Naghten St., contains about 100,000 square feet of space that would be renovated for office use. The proposal then calls for a 50,000-square-foot addition onto the north side of the building, which would require the demolition of a two-story brick building at 245 Mt. Vernon Ave. Ben Punturi, of the architectural firm Ford & Associates, told the commission that “in order to structurally stabilize the building that we want to keep, that [smaller] building has to come down.” The existing surface lot to the west of the site would be utilized for parking. The project was reviewed conceptually, meaning that the commission provided initial comments but did not vote on approval. Several commissioners spoke favorably of the proposal and alluded to the fact that previous attempts to redevelop the site have not been successful. “It’s great to see someone doing something with the building,” said commissioner Otto Beatty. Also heard at today’s meeting was a new plan for the PNC Building, as well as a significant proposal for the corner of East Broad Street and North Grant Avenue. https://www.columbusunderground.com/addition-proposed-for-downtown-warehouse-building-bw1
  21. Proposed 11-story tower could add artistic flair to downtown Columbus https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2019/12/18/proposed-11-story-tower-could-add-artistic-flair.html?iana=hpmvp_colum_news_headline Below is an interesting comment relating the issue of the parking garage fronting Grant: The developers intend to return in January for approval. Based on that, they seem to be pretty serious about the project.
  22. Has anyone noticed any further activity at the Market Tower lot since this drilling was going on?
  23. Wow, that really will stand out. For comparison, the High & Long building is 153' tall according to Emporis. And the DoubleTree Hotel is 162':
