Columbus: Downtown Developments and News
I don't think that quote really give us any indication one way or the other. I doubt we will get a "significant tower" (i.e. 30+ stories) but I don't think it's out of the question for us to end up with at least one ~20 story building. Even something in the 15-20 story range would have quite the impact. One component that could certainly drive up the height would be hotel use. I'm surprised we haven't heard anything about them trying to incorporate some hotel use given the centralized location of the lots and the need for hotel rooms in the downtown vicinity. Getting a someone like Marriott or Hilton to sign on using one of their boutique brands could easily give us a 10-story bump in terms of height.

cbussoccer replied to ColDayMan's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionIt looks like the old run-down Eastland Golf and Family Fun Center is going to be redeveloped into some type of extended stay/apartment development. I believe the company behind this development is also currently building a 240 unit apartment complex in Reynoldsburg. It also appears that an Aldi grocery store will be built as part of this development. The below application was recently filed for the same parcel.

cbussoccer replied to ColDayMan's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionHaha no worries. I suppose they could be doing some utility work there right now. I never drive past this corner so I didn't even know anything was going on here. I never get further west than the Chick-fil-a. It does seem kind of odd that they are building a 7-story hotel way over there though. You would think they would want it within walking distance of the mall.

cbussoccer replied to ColDayMan's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThere's a CBF article today about all of the hotels currently under construction in the Columbus area. One of the hotels listed is a 240 room Hilton Garden Inn & Homewood Suites at Easton. I don't recall hearing anything about that being built at Easton and the article I can find relating to it is this article from PACE Equity. Including in the article is the below rendering of a 7-story hotel, but nowhere in the article is the location of the hotel mentioned. Does anyone know where it's being built at Easton?- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Congrats Cleveland friends! This is great news and super exciting. I can't wait to see some renderings.- Columbus: Children's Hospital Projects

According to @DevolsDance on the previous page, it should top out at 342'. That height is "from ground to crown", so it will probably be more like 325' due to the fact that it's base will be lower than High Street.- Columbus: Downtown: Hilton Columbus Downtown Tower II

cbussoccer replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionAddition Proposed for Downtown Warehouse Building A plan to breathe new life into a mostly-vacant warehouse building on the northern edge of downtown was presented to the Downtown Commission earlier today. The four- and six-story building, which sits at 260 E. Naghten St., contains about 100,000 square feet of space that would be renovated for office use. The proposal then calls for a 50,000-square-foot addition onto the north side of the building, which would require the demolition of a two-story brick building at 245 Mt. Vernon Ave. Ben Punturi, of the architectural firm Ford & Associates, told the commission that “in order to structurally stabilize the building that we want to keep, that [smaller] building has to come down.” The existing surface lot to the west of the site would be utilized for parking. The project was reviewed conceptually, meaning that the commission provided initial comments but did not vote on approval. Several commissioners spoke favorably of the proposal and alluded to the fact that previous attempts to redevelop the site have not been successful. “It’s great to see someone doing something with the building,” said commissioner Otto Beatty. Also heard at today’s meeting was a new plan for the PNC Building, as well as a significant proposal for the corner of East Broad Street and North Grant Avenue. https://www.columbusunderground.com/addition-proposed-for-downtown-warehouse-building-bw1- Columbus: Downtown: Discovery District / Warehouse District / CSCC / CCAD Developments and News

cbussoccer replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionAwesome! The only issue is the parking decks fronting Grant. I know they are working in a pretty tight space here, but they need to figure out how to include some ground floor retail or something along at least a portion of Grant. - Columbus: Easton Developments and News
