  1. What kind of height are we talking here? ~10 stories?
  2. You aren't quite on my level yet ?
  3. I say discuss it here. It's part of the overall Scioto Peninsula development envisioned by CDDC, so I think it belongs here.
  4. Correct. I never said otherwise.
  5. Oh baby look at that crane action!
  6. I just posted the same picture over in the random Columbus pictures thread lol. It's an awesome picture though!

Here's an interesting and unique skyline shot from r/Columbus. You can see a lot of the recent and ongoing infill developments around downtown. You can also see the newer Children's hospital buildings to the left and you can see the Short North and campus off in the distance to the right. I'm not sure I've seen too many pictures from this vantage point, so I think it's pretty cool.
  8. Here's the CBF take on the potential Chase job relocation to Columbus. https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2019/10/29/jpmorgan-chase-considering-shifting-jobs-out-of.html?iana=hpmvp_colum_news_headline
  9. I just came here to "jump all over it" but you beat me by a few minutes. I'm wondering how many thousands of jobs they could be moving, and how many of those could we land in Columbus. We've been talking a lot about how the CDDC thinks they will fill 2 million sq ft of office space on the Scioto Peninsula. Perhaps this could assist in filling that, although they could also spread out some of this positions in their preexisting locations here in Columbus. Regardless, the jobs would be great for the area!
  10. The flights have also been pretty full out of Columbus as far as I know. There’s no reason they wouldn’t see the same level of demand in Cleveland though.
  11. This is actually a common setup in Europe. Definitely uncommon here though!
  12. I think this looks like a great location for the next hotel tower. It would force the developer to build up pretty high and would likely lead to some interesting architecture given the weird lot shape.
  13. Yea I understand. I definitely wish we had more of what you are looking for. We are about to get some interesting pedestrian only areas in Franklinton with the Gravity project, but nothing like what you posted.

^ Something like that. The skyline picture at the top is at least 13 years old. The North Bank Condo tower isn't even built yet.

The main photo on wikipedia is incredibly outdated lol it's pretty funny.
  16. This is why I speculated about CDDC being in talks with SW (or some other big time company) to potentially take up a large chunk of space. If they plan to fill up 2m sq ft of office space in a piecemeal manner, they are going to have vacant office space for a very long time.

I am young (25-30 range) and have never once heard anyone +/- 10 years from me say anything even remotely similar to this. I drove a 2006 model up until just a few months ago. Never once did I have a fellow youngster complain about the safety features, or lack thereof. My wife still drives a 2007 model and she's never received a complaint either. In fact, most of my friends drove cars older than 2009 models up until recently when we started making enough money to upgrade. What kind of young people are you hanging around? The only people I've heard comment on safety features in cars are the over 40 crowd.

    Now try urban capitalism.
  19. OSU kinda tried it on a very small scale with the Campus Gateway Development. https://www.google.com/maps/@39.9940263,-83.006543,3a,75y,67.97h,92.01t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sDuE77JQhG4-DzZDQusrSqQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656
  20. Work underway on new 460-room Hilton tower by Columbus convention center As Franklin County commissioners approved their financing toward the $220 million, 1,000-room Hilton hotel tower next to the Greater Columbus Convention Center, some officials already are wondering when planning should begin on the next hotel expansion to keep up with demand from large conventions and other gatherings. https://www.thisweeknews.com/news/20191024/work-underway-on-new-460-room-hilton-tower-by-columbus-convention-center?fbclid=IwAR1t5bkpAEaLlbKXVuVnswfGcTv1OhsSTkkQ7BtHWS_6RWvrzWwoXU81ORc There isn't much new or groundbreaking news in this article, but I did find it interesting that they are already talking about when we need to start the process for the next big hotel development. Don Brown, executive director of the Franklin County Convention Facilities Authority, said they are ready to take up the next hotel project and they have a couple ideas already, but they don't want to get ahead of what the county thinks they should do. I would love to know what ideas they have.

Remember when the river was stagnant and gross? I think I prefer the current iteration, especially in its fall colors.
  22. Excellent point. I didn't see that about the vacancy rate. I wonder how the vacancy rate now compares to what it was in early 2017 when the Scioto Peninsula plans were first detailed. A lower vacancy could certainly lead them to feel more comfortable building more space, although more than doubling the amount of space still seems pretty ambitious to me.
  23. So wouldn't Columbus' success also be Cleveland's success? If things truly are getting a little more rocky than people initially thought in NEO, wouldn't it better for SW to move to Columbus than some place like Charlotte? I'm not rooting for SW to leave Cleveland or anything, I was simply speculating about the fact that CDDC has doubled their planned office space bringing it up to 2m sq ft. I can't imagine they would be twice as confident in filling office space than they were three years ago unless they have a big time tenant (not necessarily SW) in mind. SW just so happens to be looking for an amount of space equal to the amount of remaining office space to be built after phase one. As I said, if anything it just helps to conceptualize how much office space remains in the coming phases.
