Columbus: Downtown: Merchant Building
Wasn't that before the parking garage was built and took up some space?

Columbus: Downtown: Merchant Building
Do you think the dimensions of the lot make a tower realistically doable?

Columbus: Downtown: Merchant Building
I hope you are right! Given the small size, it would definitely force you to build up pretty high and would hopefully result in an interesting design as well.

I actually love the church, but I hate the surface lot. I wish something could be done about that.

I've thought about that parcel a lot and even mentioned it on here as a potential lot for a new hotel tower. I'm just not sure it is feasible though. I'm no engineer or architect, but it seems like you would have to get extremely creative to make anything work there. I hope I'm wrong though!

Columbus: Downtown: Merchant Building
I think we will see another large (25-30 stories) hotel near the convention center announced within the next 5 years. I would really like to see the Drury Plaza Hotel demo’d and replaced with a new hotel tower. The current building is so bad.

Same! This thing is really starting to make its presence known! Can’t wait for the next tower to get started downtown.

It's planned to be 382', I believe, so it will be right between Three Nationwide (408') and One Columbus (366').

I like the Continental Center too. It's pleasantly simple.

Well, they had the financing lined up until the financers backed out haha. Sucks it didn't happen though.

Look at them go! Hopefully as we get into spring/summer we'll see more movement. People tend to move during the warmer months.

Columbus Crew Discussion
The other issue is the field is artificial turf and it's way too narrow. NYCFC's field at Yankee Stadium has been much derided for being too narrow, and the field at Ohio Stadium would be even more narrow.

Columbus Crew Discussion
They tried changing our name and logo, and even remove yellow from our team colors. We got them to back down completely on the name change and color change, and we forced them to compromise on the logo change. I have absolutely no issue with them marketing to areas outside of Columbus. Totally fine. But playing the biggest home game of the season outside of Columbus is a complete and total slap in the face to the city and fanbase. I highly doubt they sell any more than about 35k tickets for this game. Messi mania has mostly subsided by this point, April in NEO is not great weather-wise, and the Crew fanbase is totally uninterested in this. Furthermore, season ticket holders are already canceling their plans. When the long term revenue stream starts to dry up, it will force them to reconsider.

Columbus Crew Discussion
Sickening. Totally unacceptable and tone deaf by the front office. Crew fans are not ok with this and I wouldn't be surprised to this plan scrapped within a few weeks.

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
Somewhat off topic, but Crew fans are about to raise holy hell over this. What a debacle by the Crew front office. Don't be surprised if this plan is scrapped within the next month.

Town and State have so much untapped potential. Let's hope they well to allow for redevelopment.

Columbus: General Business & Economic News
Generally speaking, in the corporate world, that's not a high salary unless you are at the staff/senior level. But compared to the average salary in the area, which I believe is around $65k, it's pretty solid. It's also a good salary if you are in the first few years of your career.

I guess it depends on the level. Less than three years of experience? Yea, that's a good salary.

Columbus: Restaurant News & Info
cbussoccer replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentYes, that's where it will be. You can search the parcel number on the auditor website to see exactly where it will be. I'm somewhat skeptical of the location. It's going to create a lot of traffic being funneled into that small area. Hamilton really needs to be reconfigured.

Columbus: Restaurant News & Info
cbussoccer replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentLooks like Groveport is getting a Chick-fil-a. https://ca.columbus.gov/Permits/columbus/columbus.aspx Project Description: CFA / SR 33 & Hamilton Rd. FSU #05817 - The project is for a new build, new install Chick-Fil-A restaurant located at 4015 South Hamilton Road, Groveport OH 43125. Parcel ID number is 530-193321. I'm kind of surprised they are building here as opposed to somewhere on Gender Rd. The Hamilton/33 interchange will definitely need to be addressed sooner rather than later.

Delaware County: Rts 36/37 at I-71 / Northstar Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to ColDayMan's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionYea, it was being discussed about 15 years ago: https://www.dispatch.com/story/news/2010/06/05/contract-awarded-for-zoo-hotel/23089588007/ I think it would be a great addition. I'm not sure what ever came of the studies, but it seems like it would be a pretty big money maker. It would be a great revenue stream in the non-summer months when Zoombezi Bay is closed. They could also include a conference center to attract some business from local/regional companies.

cbussoccer replied to ColDayMan's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionApparently the zoo in CVille was only open for a total of five months in 1905. It closed for “unknown reasons”. I think it’s time for sleuthing to figure out what actually happened.

cbussoccer replied to ColDayMan's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThe last of the interurbans were shut down just a couple years after the zoo opened, and I’m not even sure any of the lines ran out that way. I’m not sure if it was possible to access from any sort of rail. It might have been accessible only by the people wealthy enough to own a car.

cbussoccer replied to StuFoote's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionDo you travel much? Architecture all over the country is boring right now. I’d say what you see being built here is pretty normal around the country, unfortunately.

cbussoccer replied to ColDayMan's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWe pretty much have to plan it as an all day affair. Which is fine, but it's hard to justify actually buying a membership because of that. Regardless, it's a great entertainment option to have in the metro area.
