  1. Here's the CU article: https://www.columbusunderground.com/downtown-soccer-stadium-approved-bw1 They have a rendering showing some info on the materials to be used.
  2. It looks pretty spaceship-like from this view:
  3. Check out the smokestack in this rendering. Hopefully this actually happens.
  4. I think it would be cool if they added "Columbus Crew" in bold yellow letters on the roof so that it could be read from an aerial shot of the skyline taken from the west. It would be iconic.
  5. Here's the article from The Dispatch: https://www.thisweeknews.com/sports/20190924/crew-unveils-detailed-renderings-of-arena-district-stadium Unanimously approved by the commission.
  6. Totally agree. I think it looks great. I could understand some complaints about it's bold and different design if it were in Huntington Park's place, but it's all the way at the end of the AD. The inside looks absolutely amazing and the community space they have added, such as a bar that will be open to the public and a small concert venue, are really cool. Here is a website for the new stadium: https://www.crewstadium.com/index.php#home Here's an article with some info on the stadium: https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2019/09/24/columbus-crew-reveals-new-stadium-renderings.html?iana=hpmvp_colum_news_headline
  7. LOL. We constantly hear complaints about the AD being unifrom brick buildings. We finally get something different and interesting....and it's met with complaints. These are pictures of pictures. Of course they aren't the best quality. Higher resolution renderings will be released soon.

Saw this on the Columbus Reddit. This shot provides a great view of the recent Children’s Hospital developments, River South developments, Vets Memorial, Gravity, Park’s Edge Condos, Neighborhood Launch, and other various projects that have really improved downtown over the past few years.
  9. Not sure if we should lump in the redevelopment of the current Mapfre Stadium site with the new stadium thread, create a new one, or just track it here. Regardless....the engineering application have been submitted to begin preliminary site work in preparation for the new training facility and community center to be built around Mapfre Stadium. https://portal.columbus.gov/Permits/Cap/CapDetail.aspx?Module=Engineering&TabName=Engineering&capID1=19PCS&capID2=00000&capID3=00226&agencyCode=COLUMBUS&IsToShowInspection=
  10. Luckily we also have Rickenbacker which, if they ever add a second runway, could handle a decent amount of passenger traffic as well. LCK currently handles all Allegiant flights, although that's only about ~300k passengers per year. I would imagine they could increase their capacity in the future by quite a bit to take some stress off of CMH.
  11. It was mostly just cosmetic if I recall. They were just giving it a face lift. And the new terminal is still at least a decade away, so the cosmetic updates they did on the current terminal will still have a 15-20 year life before we shift to the new terminal.
  12. Judging by the picture, it will be demolished and new hangars will be built there to replace the ones that will be removed to build the new facility.
  13. ^ Wow, those views are great! I need to find my way up to one of those rooftops ASAP.
  14. The CU article has been updated to state that 20% of the total number of units will be "affordable" units. So, assuming 230 total units, there will be 46 "affordable" units. Does that tickle your fancy, or does it still not reach your arbitrary threshold of affordableness.
  15. Just eyeballing it, it looks like it will be a tight squeeze, but there appears to be room. I'm sure they've considered the space limitations and are confident they have enough room.
  16. Yep. The reason they are building the garage in this location is because the new terminal is planned to be across the street, with pedestrian walkways connecting directly to the terminal. Here's the overall plan for the area.
  17. Just a little baby crane lol. The third crane will be halfway between those two in height.
  18. Once we see these guys walking around on site, we will know it's go time.
  19. I hope we will be getting high rises much taller than 12 feet ?
  20. WE HAVE A PORT-A-JOHN FOLKS! I REPEAT, WE HAVE A PORT-A-JOHN! IT'S HAPPENING!
