Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
One thing to consider is that because the city of Columbus gobbled up so much area, it prevented very dense areas of the city from being their cities/suburbs like you have in Cleveland. For example, Clintonville and the Hilltop “neighborhoods” could each be their own city and would be pretty high up this list. The densities in those areas are both around 4K I believe. The Cleveland area is certainly more dense in general, but because of how much area Columbus takes up, it makes it seem there are far less dense areas than reality.

You might be thinking of New Albany. Bexley is definitely wealthy, but it’s close to downtown and one of the older parts of the city. It’s very dense.

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
I was talking about DEPACincy's charts on the previous page where he calculated the densities. He used land area for his calculations as opposed to total area, so the amount of uninhabitable water does not skew the density.

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
The density numbers in the charts are based on land area for the counties, as opposed to total area. Cuyahoga's density is accurate and is not skewed by the large amount of Lake Erie included in it's total area number.

Columbus: Downtown: Hilton Columbus Downtown Tower II
This rendering makes it look only marginally taller than the Hyatt, which is kind of surprising. I wonder how many of the 28 floors will be below High Street.

cbussoccer replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionSeems like we might need a new district for this area. Maybe the “Surface lots and ugly 1-2 story buildings with no urban feel” district.

I could certainly see the possibility of a pedestrian bridge being added over the top of the tracks. A few of those already exist around the city. It seems that it would be something that everyone involved would want to make happen.

I figured. That county has been growing like crazy and made quite the jump in just 8 years. It's on the way to being around the 10th largest county within the next decade.

^ Great metric. Very interesting to analyze! I believe Delaware County should actually replace Medina County if you want to look at the 15 most populated counties as of 2018. Delaware County is up to 204,826. Here are Delaware County's stats: 2010 pop: 174,214 2018 pop: 204826 Change #/%: +30,612/+17.6% Land Area: 443 2010 Density: 393.26 2018 Density: 462.36 Change: +69.10

Here's an overly vague article from ABC6 saying that the redevelopment plan was approved by Southwest Area Commission 7-4 last night, and that the plan now "moves to the city for consideration". https://abc6onyourside.com/news/local/plans-to-redevelop-old-cooper-stadium-site-approved

Upper Arlington: Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionTwo Upper Arlington developments have received approval. https://www.columbusunderground.com/two-large-projects-in-upper-arlington-moving-forward-bw1 The Golden Bear Project will be a five-story building containing ground-level retail, second-floor office space and 79 condominiums on the upper floors. In addition to 81 parking spaces available in surface lots, a 217-space parking garage located behind the main building will provide parking for the project. Arlington Gateway will now hold 225 residential units (up from 220) and 864 parking spaces (up from 843). There will be about a seven percent decrease in retail square footage, while the overall amount of office space was reduced by about two percent. The height of the office tower was also reduced, from nearly 152 feet to 144 feet.

Columbus: OSU / University Area Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI would imagine the 240' crane is so tall because they need multiple cranes that will overlap each other and it needs to have enough clearance. Also, I just went back to the OEAAA website to look at the current pending applications, and I noticed there are now three different tower crane applications for this area. "Tower Crane A" - 174' tall: Location on Google Maps "Tower Crane" - 243' tall: Location on Google Maps "Tower Crane B2" - 178' tall: Location on Google Maps In terms of buildings, I've only seen one structure application submitted, which is "Building A" - 91' tall. Here is it's location on Google Maps. I think the pictures below from CU and CBF will help conceptualize what's going on a bit better.

Columbus: OSU / University Area Developments and News
cbussoccer replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI drove past this sight over the week. The bases for the two tower cranes are now in place. It won't be long until we have 2 tower cranes on each side of High Street in this area.
