Cincinnati: Pendleton: Development and News
https://www.dropbox.com/s/rshemkwsciojw1q/2018.11.02_HistoricSubmission.pdf?dl=0 Proposal for a new apartment building on 12th. 5 stories, 4 floors of apartments with the first floor open air parking. In addition, a new surface lot at the end of 12th at the intersection with Reading. 56 units, 54 parking spaces. I like the density, but don't like the first floor parking, as the two garage doors will hurt the pedestrian nature of the street. I hate that the undeveloped lot on the corner will be a surface lot. Pendleton Council meeting tomorrow at 6 will vote on supporting it or not. HCB meeting is 12-17-2018 at 3:00. I plan on going tomorrow, and suggesting that a garage should be built on the lot at 12th and Reading. Then they can turn the first floor the building into apartments, and add another 10 units or so. A three story garage on the that lot would give them all the parking they need. Or they could make it 5 stories, and then rent out the rest of the spaces for other people on the street. Does anyone else have any other or better ideas?

While I don't love the zippered windows. I do really hope this project comes to fruition. This would be fanastic to fill that giant surface lot.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
I really wish they weren't voting on both the residential parking permits for OTR and the removal of parking minimums at the same time. I am afraid those two items will be lumped together. Removal of parking minimums needs to happen regardless of what happens with residential parking permits.

I am surprised 3cdc wants to renovate something north of Liberty.

Are you referring to the Kroger's Site, or the two historic buildings they are turning into Office space?

Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
Much of this discussion is centered around showing off our city, specifically OTR, to potential new tourists. With the idea that that convention center would bring in new potential tourists that would otherwise never have come to Cincy. However, since the area around the convention center is such a dead zone, and increasing the size of the convention center will only exacerbate the problem, it seems the best route forward would be to focus on improving the area around the convention center. Get some first floor retail in place, New 3cdc hotel on 5th, new residential in the area, maybe a Cincinnati Special parking garage with apartments on top to replace the horrible garages on 6th. Make the area surrounding it inviting so convention goers are enticed out into the city.

Agreed, that still just looks like a giant spaghetti mess. Woof

I already dislike how the current convention center breaks up Plum. I would hate it spanning Elm as well.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Fourth & Race (Pogue Garage) Redevelopment
I am sure it is massively frustrating to watch 8th and Sycamore apartment tower go up, and now the Central and walnut tower go up while this project sits in limbo. I can sympathize with him there. However, Tower place mall got converted to a parking garage, it is across the street.

I didn't realize the CCAC was moving into this development. That will bring a whole lot of activity to this building.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Encore
I have a question for the architects on this forum. Many of the older parking garages around the city are suffering from years of exposure to the weather, crumbling concrete, exposed rebar, etc. Now that we are building these structures that are parking garage base with apartments on top, is there anything that can be done to keep garage portion intact? Are these buildings just doomed to 50 year life at most?

Hopefully they can also get that surface lot next to the building and get some infill going there.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Holiday Inn
When I think of a holiday inn, I see neon green signs and beige stucco walls. I am pleasantly surprised this building actually has a mostly brick facade. It is turning out far better than I had thought it would.

Door was open to Bayhorse Cafe this morning, looked like some work was going on inside. Anyone have any information on this?

Cincinnati: East End / Linwood / California: Development and News
So it seems like Inman has taken the lead on developing this neighborhood since DCI has moved across the River for the Manhattan Harbour development. These homes are going to have a great view of the River. I just hope a couple more businesses can fill in around the intersection of the Collins and Riverside. Not much of a neighborhood if it ends up just being all high end town homes. Any one know if DCI ever plans on finishing out that last Condo building next to 2206 Riverside ?

Cincinnati: Downtown: Dennison Hotel Demolition
Fairly ridiculous that 2 members voted to allow demolition. Is their any way we the people can have input on who sits on that board? It would nice to populate it with some urban minded people.

Just as soon as that magical Fortune 500 Company shows up

Cincinnati: East End: River's Edge
I believe they have demo'd the old East End Community Heritage School at 2423 Riverside Drive. The land has been graded, looks like it is being marketed for some high end homes. Does anyone have any information about this? I had though DCI was originally going to convert that into condo's.
